I'm not sure if I'll finish this video, given its length. But I'm sure I'll enjoy the minutes I do choose to watch
ОтветитьIncredible.
ОтветитьThis is really well put together and edited - quite the theme park magnum opus, kudos! Watching it has brought back a few memories I didn’t know I had from going to Movie World as a kid!
ОтветитьWas there in 92 as a 7yr old, bringing back some memories 😂
The Batman ride was being built while I was there
so sad how all these theme parks remove props and animatronics for cheap screens and think people wont mind
ОтветитьI'm still trying to wrap my head around an attraction based on "Young Einstein" . Thats the most random film to have a theme park appearance. Unless the film was bigger down there than it was in the states. I think they were trying to make Yahoo Serious the next breakout austrailian star after Paul Hogan.
ОтветитьCool 👌
ОтветитьThat Police Academy live show blew my mind when i was a kid
ОтветитьI love this.
ОтветитьFor context, Alf has a massive cult following in Germany, so his inclusion was connected to that. Still wild they put him in a Gremlins ride, though.
Though I find it funny that a Harry Potter attraction was replaced by a massive allegory for trans rights.
I went in 2001 during a visit to Australia. I thought we were at Universal Studios in America 😂😂😂
ОтветитьWow, what a fantastic video. I only went to Movie World in 2000, and 2008. I have very few memories of the 00 visit, but by 2008 I was into films and filmmaking and was SO disappointed to learn by that time, the movie making aspects of the park were basically phased out. So many memories have come flooding back.
Absolutely love all your merchandise, but also your collection behind you of Goosebumps, and blurays etc!
Wow, surprised to find out its only been around since 99.. thought it was longer
ОтветитьThere’s one reason why Movie World has begun investing so heavily in Wizard of Oz beyond the standard “wanting to keep true to the park’s love of classic Hollywood”.
Because with the announcement and development of the Wicked movies, the Wizard of Oz is already going through a large resurgence in popularity. And apart from one small roadside park in America, a scene in a ride at Disney or a small Wicked-esque area in Japan, Oz has been under-utilised as a park concept.
The decision to open it in December 2024, a month after the release of Wicked strikes me as them striking while the iron is hot.
Bachelor Mother was an RKO movie, Warner Bros acquired the rights to most of the RKO library decades afterwards. It's like calling Patton a movie from Disney's history. Why pick on Bachelor Mother? It's not up there with Casablanca, but it was a hit and still gets a lot of play around Christmas and New Years.
ОтветитьEntercationment made me snarf my tea. Subscribed
ОтветитьAmerica should have had a Gremlins ride! 🍿
ОтветитьA bat credit card?
ОтветитьI appreciate the length of this video. It helps me get to sleep.
ОтветитьLove the Simpsons references
ОтветитьIncredibly comprehensive and engaging. Great video. Would love to see you do more Australian theme parks.
ОтветитьI never thought Lethal Weapon/Arkham Asylum was rough and it was my absolute favourite ride.
ОтветитьYou didn’t mention the elephant in the room - the dearth of flat rides - there’s only two in Australia’s self-proclaimed “premier theme park”. Of those DDD (not Deny, Defend, Depose though coincidentally that IS the strategy MW has deployed to gaslight patrons in various ways about this ride) has been SBNO effectively for years.
That’s my biggest complaint about the park - a lack of flat rides to provide variety and help soak up the crowds on a busy day.
SeaWorld suffers the same problem made worse by unreliable new rides, one of which can’t operate in even light wind. You’d think that could have been foreseen giving their location next to the Pacific Ocean.
Dreamworld by contrast has consistently efficient ride ops and a good selection of flat rides though MW has the better coasters.
Thank you for the in-depth video and trip down memory lane!
ОтветитьStupendous video
ОтветитьYou missed out not trying to VR on Arkham. It was honestly incredible and very well done.
ОтветитьGreat video, cheers for the credit !
ОтветитьThe unsung hero of Movie World was Rodney from Tasmania.
ОтветитьIt's so boring the roller coaster I do meet the Hight but not the white even on fright night is so boring where the fun there nouthing
ОтветитьBrilliant video mate, what a great insight into the history of Movie World. I also visited Movie World in my childhood too in the mid-90s and early 2000s, and it's definitely as I remember it from your video.
Also, a very nice collection of movie world merchandise you have there. I myself still have a couple of items from my childhood from movie world and also including the film clapper that you have to. It actually came in handy when I was studying screen and media at university, lol.
Anyway, it was great watch man thanks for the memories.
Great video! A movie based theme park by design is highly reliant on movie market trends to keep making a profit to stay open. I think the tricky part is finding a balance to cater to all its demographics. I also think there should be more franchise attractions with original content, the Shrek attractions in particular are kinda genius in that they're in canon and in continuity with the movies but they're also unique and exclusive to the park.
ОтветитьMy biggest question for the wizard of oz section is. Will there be a dark ride with animatronics?
