ОтветитьWut
Ответитьim actually from cov, didnt know godiva was false, but we have a big statue in the middle of our city
Ответить5'7 is not short, it is average.
ОтветитьThe Napoleon thing is nonsense. Napoleon was indeed short. How do I know? Because his military uniform was displayed at the Musee de l’Armee des Invalides in Paris. Any visitor can make a visual assessment of his height and can compare to other uniforms in the area. I did that and I'm sure many people before me did that too. The whole business of thinking this is a hoax is itself a hoax.
ОтветитьLady Godiva
Ответитьwhy there a creeper in the painting of lady godiva
ОтветитьVikings were OP, they had Berserker Rage and the Mushrooms buffs, had to be nerfed
ОтветитьLove the minecraft reference in the lady godiva painting because the vid is so old
ОтветитьThere’s the creeper again!
ОтветитьDamn, this was 10 year ago.
ОтветитьColumbus was the last person to discover the Americas
ОтветитьColombus did not discover the US. Just saying
ОтветитьI mean video is nice, but lady Godiva, who knows her???
Ответить"5'7" is short by today's standards"
I feel attacked
Lessons we learned, don’t try fighting the French or Vikings, also that Columbus still sucks
ОтветитьImagine being on a Viking ship for months and months and discovering the americas only to realise there’s nothing to pillage
ОтветитьBack in my college days we had a frat song called "Godiva" that was sung to the "Battle Hymn of the Republic":
Godiva was a lady who thru Coventry did ride
To show to all the villagers her lovely bare white hide
The most observant man around, an engineer of course,
Was the only man to notice that Godiva rode a horse!
Actually Columbus though the earth was pair shaped not spherical
ОтветитьI miss videos like this.
ОтветитьI love how the end ties back to the beginning. Well done!
ОтветитьReasonable people don’t object to taxation, we object to excessive/unjust taxation and wasteful spending.
ОтветитьLatina non mortua est! Est mortabula
ОтветитьNot amerika but lower
ОтветитьHorned helmet were likely artists way of depicting the pagan vikings as evil. Horns often symbolized pagan gods and the devil.
ОтветитьWell at least modern artists and medieval artists have something in common
ОтветитьActually fun fact average heights haven't actually changed significantly (for most people groups at least) for over 400 years (or longer). Estimates from the battle of Agincourt has the average height of French men at approximately 5'8 (with a 1 inch derivation in either direction falling within average) and English men at about the same; the current average height for men in France is 5'8 and the current average height for men in England is 5'9. The average approximate heights estimated from Norse men (those coming from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and the Baltics) was 6'0. The average height for men in those countries today is still hovers around 6'0. The same can be said for virtually every people group on the planet (with exception to the Scots who used to have an average height of at least 6'0; however, intermarriage to shorter people groups combined with poor diet over generations has collectively lowered their average height). The human race really hasn't evolved in over a millennia. Average heights have stayed relatively consistent (the only dips occurred in periods of famine when the food supply didn't support people's genetic predisposition to certain height ranges). Average lifespans haven't changed (again the food supply is the cause there - when allowed adequate nutrition and assuming they didn't die of disease or injury there is evidence of people centuries ago living into their late 70s and 80s; the current average lifespan is mid-late 80s, it's just more people are reaching old age since they aren't dying of disease or injury that would have killed them centuries ago).
Another weird fact is that not only was the whole flat earth thing not a thing, but there are several historical conspiracies which posit that Columbus was actually a secret Jew smuggling sacred artifacts out of Inquisition period Spain. If true, it would make the con Columbus pulled on the Spanish all the more delicious (he was an Italian who managed to convince Spain to finance a voyage intent of seeking a trade route/passage to a continent that he never reached and later convinced them to continue to finance a search for gold which they never found; granted he did slaughter, infect with disease, and enslave the local populace - so not a total loss for the, at the time, extremely bigoted Spanish and Spanish government).
Taxes can still be considered too high without being an anarchist.
ОтветитьHistory version of VIBE CHECK.
ОтветитьMaybe Lady Godiva’s R rated ride through Coventry was real, but nobody recorded it.
Ответитьi love how the video made full circle with the vikings(they were talked about in the beginning and popped up at the end)
ОтветитьFun fact: The US is actually on the metric system, but they then do a conversion to imperial. Look up Treaty of the Metre - US is a member. They joined back in 1878, which was 3 years after the Metre Convention was founded.
Ответить...
Ответитьwhile the vikings didnt have horns on their helmets, the samurai did...sorta.
ОтветитьFor a video about debunking historical misconceptions this one has its fair dose of them
Ответить“Dead useless language”
Yeah used by 2x more people then English 😂😂😂😂😂😂 angloids will always be angloids
The Massalians may have beat Columbus too. They had two expeditions out of the Mediterra and the second voyage under Euthymenes found a lush and land with trees the size of three men.
Possibly also sub-saharan africa.
HA! You did it too! St Brendan "discovered" the continent hundreds of years before those punk Vikings.
ОтветитьWe in Ireland should probably be in the 'sort of' category for the metric system as well. We still use a mix of metric and imperial measurements using imperial for somethings like height and weight.
ОтветитьPersonally I don't thank Napoleon for introducing the metric system.
ОтветитьThe stickfigures, though...
Ответитьdiscovery only matters if you tell someone about it.
ОтветитьI don’t mind taxes, I just want more influence and better accountability over how my money is spent… you dirty commie.
Ответить"Hey pa, Lady Godiva is riding to the town naked!"
"I see. Go grab my horny helm, son"
wait...who the hell ever thought that Columbus discovered the earth is round?
