An average German side in a quarter final is the highlight of his tenure. The first time we play against a fairly decent team in a tournament it’s a given we will come up short. A plethora of undoubtedly talented players who are competing in, and winning the most prestigious trophies at their respective clubs, but somehow perform at a level that is far below their level of potential is so disheartening to watch. The fact that anyone could see the imbalance of the team, especially on the left side, yet the most perplexing aspect is that a left footed, and naturally gifted attacking player has bewilderingly been given a 4 minute cameo during the whole campaign. Individual flashes of brilliance by certain players is the sole factor behind our progression in this tournament. An inability to press home any advantage has cost us dearly.

I simply can’t watch another England game if Simpgate is at the helm. I’ve been watching England for nearly 50 years, and this is by far the most frustrating and saddening experience in the whole of that time.

Regarding England's performance levels at the euros. Yes, we got to the final!! But when you analyse performance to performance, we were behind in so many games and scraped through, some would say deservedly, some would say luckily. Southgate never released the shackles from the team and was reserved through out the tournament. If he had started Cole Palmer Ollie Watkins and Anthony Gordon etc we would have stretched teams and probably got ahead in the games we went behind. Ultimately in the final against a side that does all those things with their very best players. We were found out in a tight game. Yes, there is some hindsight in this post. But I honestly believe modern day football is about being on the front foot attacking with aggression. That my friends is why we failed!!!!

Declan Rice is the main reason we cant play through midfield. He's simply not technically good enough and its time for the BS about how amazing he is to stop. Kobbie Mainoo, James Maddison, Harvey Elliot, Adam Wharton - these are the types of players you need in the middle of the park, not pass it sideways and back plodders like Rice. I would also put Connor Gallagher in the same category. Not good enough.

The English system doesn't work, players made into superstars at a very young age without proving anything. Foreign players are much tougher, intelligent and able to adapt psychologically. They need to be shipped off at a young age to academies abroad where they learn life skills.
