Rhaenys body may not be with them, but at least her dragons skull is at Dragonstone. We get to see it HOD behind Rhaenyra a few times
Ответить“The conqueror wasn’t even that cool” we talking about the same guy? 😂😂
ОтветитьFor those interested in why Jaehaerys passed over his female children for heir, and why viserys inherited. There was a historical precedent in westeros that male children inherit over female children, this didn't necessarily apply to the iron throne, the thought is that jaehaerys was worried it would come to civil war if they changed this established order, however there are those who speculate this was a cover of his to put one of his more liked male children on the throne. Either way, when the great council came the lords of westeros chosen collectively that Viserys would rule. Establishing the future precedent for male children to inherit the iron throne aswell. This is one of the main arguments that caused the subsequent civil War to follow.
ОтветитьI love the Targaryens so much because they make their family tree so easy to remember for lore reasons
ОтветитьHonestly what this has taught me is most of the problems with the Targaryens is the faith of the Seven's fault
ОтветитьThere's an 'Aegon your face' joke here somewhere, but i can't think of it at the moment
ОтветитьI found this hilarious because you look incredibly similar to Olivia Cooke's Alicent from HOTD
ОтветитьThey had Habsburg moment
ОтветитьThe point at the end where you point out that Jon was named Aegon never bothered me before but it will now 😂 thank you Haley
ОтветитьI will have you know that this video singlehandedly got me into Game of Thrones. I started it day before yesterday and just got to season 2 😅😅
ОтветитьMore fantasy lore should be summarized as if it is some CW drama or Real Housewives show
ОтветитьWatched it yesterday and gonna watch it right again honestly
ОтветитьOh god i clicked off the video accidentally and it restarted, i have no idea where i was
ОтветитьThe two-sons-named Aegon thing... it does happen! Case in point: my father Tom. Son of Tom. Father of my three half-brothers, whom he named Tom, Todd... and Tom.
(Also Tobias, which is just far enough from Thomas to not count, and to be fair, the old man didn't pick that one.)
every family an Aegon? Sure. but 2 Aegons? Absolutely not.
ОтветитьI love family wreaths from shows I have never interacted with!
Ответитьbrb just really emotional about 7 year old twin sisters who switched places because the real aerea was young and scared of being the heir so rhaella who never wanted to be heir either gave away her life to protect her sister. that was enough but of course aerea (rhaella) then is so miserable and lonely without her sister she attempts to run away only to be killed in an insanely horrific way just a few years later, never getting to see her sister again after switching places. i’m so sad
ОтветитьAs a history student, the inbreeding and reusing of names is pretty standard for royal families. Still hurts my head to think about lmao
Ответить1. The Targaryens weren't the reason Valyrians survived after the war, House Celtigar and House Velaryon (both Valyrian, yet not dragon riders) were at Westeros already far before the Targaryens settled on Dragonstone (Dragonstone was the fartherest west of the Valyrian Empire, it was an outpost).
2. Baelor is younger than Daeron I, which is why he became king after him, you messed up the order on the board and even when you redid it.
3. Jon's name most definitely is NOT Aegon (Aemon or Viserys are most likely), you shouldn't have put it there to give it any validity, it's just shit fan fiction from a shit season.
I think dragonstone is just a pile of rocks with nuclear weapons living there. You'd probably not want to live in the medieval equivalent of a nuclear missile slio. Here in modern times, those silos are basically the number one target in nuclear war, so we build them where there isn't anyone in a 100 mile radius. Dragonstone only has enough civilization to maintain the fortress, since any dragon accidents could be worse if you had a lot of people living near there.
ОтветитьHonestly kept forgetting that this was all made up. It's truly incredible the depth of world building
Ответитьi love that rhaenyra and Laenor name one of their kids after Laenor's male lover
Ответитьi tried so hard to understand what was going on. i need to rewatch and like take notes
ОтветитьI am going to watch this video 3x for you. Also bc I'm sad
Ответить666 comments, haha
Ответитьdon't worry, I got attached to so many characters while reading Fire & Blood, I get it xD
ОтветитьI know this was 3 weeks ago, but I'll comment on why no one likes Dragonstone:
Dragonstone, rather than having sandy beach shores, is actually mostly sheer cliffs. A moss and covered Volcanic spit, geologically tempermantal, and isolated from the rest of the world (and all those people). Its like quarantining yourself on St. Helena, or Iceland.
The fortress on Dragonstone is a cold, alien structure sitting on top of a volcano with creepy evil architecture because it was built by weird evil ancient eugenicists.
I'd imagine being pretty freaked the hell out by the draconic gargoyles looking at me everywhere i go as a seven year old.
honestly the most embarrassing part of watching this video is that i already knew most of it-
ОтветитьI like the idea that there are 4 targareans left at in ASOIAF, Daenerys ofcourse, and Jon Snow, and young Griff which I'm sure he's a Blackfyre decendant, and the last one is Tyrion, he has pale hair but with one green eye and the other is black (potentially dark purple) and Aerys lusted over Tywin's wife, and they did meet together almost exactly 9 months before tyrion was born.
And that explains tywins Hatred for tyrion, and Tyrion was constantly reading and dreaming about Dragons.
Targs can’t catch a break OR keep their noses out of other people’s business 😭
ОтветитьIf you are so annoyed with the name Aegon, you have never heard about the French kings. THey had 18 kings with the name Louis, and 10 kings with the name Charles
ОтветитьOf course that is if you take Fire and Blood at face value…how much of it is true, up to debate. Like did Maegor still born children really weird dragon hybrids? We will never know!
Probably not, probably just propaganda
The crown suit you fine!
ОтветитьI will always believe and will spread the theory that Aegon and Visenya shared Rhaenys. That’s why she went apeshit when she died in dorne.
ОтветитьAh Targareyns, the ones with the family tree straighter than Arkansas!
ОтветитьStarts with Aegon, ends with Aegon
ОтветитьSomeone asking me for directions
"I'm sorry but do you know where the Walmart is?"
Me: Where is the Walmart? DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!
Loved this. Keep being you
ОтветитьJust at the start of the video instantly got some wrong. They are one of 40 Dragon families that’s it. There’s only 40 of them out of hundreds of thousands.
ОтветитьIt is funny how you can use the Targaryen family tree as a 1-to-1 correlation with all of the royal problems throughout the years. Oh one guy had six wives and no kids? Maegor the Cruel. Oh there was some insane incest tango with the post-Viserys generation? Dance of the Dragons. Oh this one king had SO MANY bastards? Blackfyre Rebellions. Honestly Robert’s Rebellion is bucking the trends by inly having the family tree be suspiciously simple.
ОтветитьTbf about giving dragons only to the kids Jaehaerys likes....he has experience with what happens when family members he doesn't trust have dragons, what with Maegor and all
ОтветитьI LOVE awoiaf and I LOVE the Targaryen family (almost as much as they love... eachother) so this video was just a banger- discovered it today. Subbed!!
Ответитьany Targ who names their kid Aegon is just asking for it at this point
ОтветитьThis is reason why we love House Targaryen, hottest bunch of inbreads ever
ОтветитьD&D (Dickhead and dickwad)
ОтветитьThe Hapsburgs: Finally, a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary!
ОтветитьThe fact that they made show rhaegar name both his sons Aegon is the most frustrating and unforgivable part of the whole series for me 😭
ОтветитьThe way you broke this down was very fun and I liked your energy!
Ответить
