My Favorite Pokémon Games Are Pokémon
Scarlet and Violet. They Are Amazing With An Amazing Region Gen 9/paldea, One Of The Best Regions in Pokémon TO EXPLORE, it's Big & Most Of The New Pokémon Were Awesome, koraidon & miraidon Were The Best Boxart Legendaries, They're Dragon Types Just Like The Gen 4 & Gen 5 Boxart Legends & Have Awesome Lore Of Being Dragons From The Past & The Future. And The idea Of Paradox Pokémon is Awesome. The DLC is Sure To Make Gen 9 The Best Gen in Years Since Gen 4, Gen 5
And Even Gen 7. Does Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Count As Hard Games? imo, They're Quite Hard.

So my only gripe (glitches aside) is thst it needs more dialogue with NPCs, houses and stores you can go into, more detailed world and biomes, and whats an open world without side quests granted by NPCs. Imagine you pass by a town where the protective fence is dammaged and taurus have run wild causing mayhem in the town you have to fix the fence and drive the taurus out of the town unlocking some areas of the town like the pokecenter, mart or something else. Theres so much potential of what could have been and its also a good sign of things to come.

It's my first mainline pokemon game, and I seriously enjoyed the plot and the story, and the mechanics were fun, but I also ended up glitching through the bottom of the map (I actually recorded footage of that happening) in Violet, and found one of the Pokemon league reps not existing, with his speech bubble hovering above the ground, before he popped up properly in Scarlet (got video proof of that too)

How is making the outfits all gender neutral a step in the right direction?

Can’t disagree with anything you say. I am also one of these people who doesn’t care too much about the graphics/performance in a pokemon game. You have to bear in mind the limited time given to develop the games, and the fact that Game Freak is still a relatively small company (it’s no Bethesda or BioWare.)

That said it is really embarrassing that it was released in this state.

i love scarlet, but im pretty sure the pokemon gholdengo existing is a message from the pokemon company of what the intentions with these games were.

The SV characters are old and ugly, there are no dresses and skirts for the girl player nor casual clothes for the players, schools are restricted places that go against the open world theme, Abilities only work during battles, the gym tests do not really have you face trainers in your way, and there is no gym level scaling to face the gyms in a proper order.

The Pokémon games should have stayed as Japanese 2D video games for plenty of content, smoother gameplay, and stable physics potential.

It’s much worse than sword and shield imo

I'm surprised how much I like scarlet, haven't noticed anything major glitch wise. The graphics are lovely and I am tempted to get violet for another play through with a different team 😅

The video is great, though I very disagree with the conclusions. This game is bad for many reasons - plot, pokemon, time wasting, bugs, difficulty. That's just to say the least

I was kind of hoping we would fight Nemona at the end of the Elite four instead of Mesagoza but it's alright since it provides a sense of progression for me

"im the type of person to go in every building." Then how can this be one of your favorite regions. There is literally nothing to do in the cities and routs besides catching pokemon and doing the gyms. Above that the region has no real identity or lore. Its just a wild area with cities that all have the exact same stores and zero interesting npc's to talk to. Like what are you gonna be nostalgic about in terms of the region?? "Awh yeah remember that town with the....................... sandwich shop where you entered and only got a menu screen, good times." Remember that snowy mountain which was really big, but didn't have any interesting areas to visit or anything to do besides catching the copy and pasted pokemon."

This is the problem with the pokemon community. You just explained how almost everything was average but still you say "it would be my favorite pokemon game without the bugs". bruh how

To be honest, the region is kind of a letdown.

I love modern Pokemon, but this... well, I did have fun.

The fact that nothing from PLA was used is a letdown, the stories other than Victory Road weren't fun, a LOT of the new Pokemon are uninteresting or bad e.g Tinkaton the overused, any of the Paradox Pokemon, the starters, etc, and the music is just so clearly made by Toby Fox that it doesn't feel like a Pokemon OST and instead feels like an Undertale OST (except the Team Star Boss theme and the Quartet of Ruin's theme. Those were amazing).

Also, Penny's theme is bad. It actually hurts my ears (no, seriously. It actually hurt my ears when first listening to it during Penny's battle) and is just horrible.

Also. Fuck Arven. Arven's an asshole to Koraidon/Miraidon and the Dragons are good bois.

Ok I won't lie. The title was correct. This was an honest review. However it was a HEAVILY boast review.

If I read this correctly, that means Breath of the Wild has been in development since B1W1

If Game Freak could make a third version of this gen, fixing most of the problems and maybe... adding a new legendary.

Last pokemon game I played before sword/shield was yellow.. didn't enjoy s&s and loved arceus and let's go.. and love violet even more.. but I get people who played all games might look at it different.. also I only had 1 crash in 300 hours and barely any glitches

For me personally the game was good. Heck, GREAT! But it could have been amazing if GF just had the right amount of time and that's my upset. Still fun as heck though!

Never played a Pokémon game. I know, I know. But I’ve now got a switch and I’m tempted to give one a try. This has been getting such bad reviews I’m reluctant in buying it.
For a noob to the series like myself, is this the best to start with?

Many of the game's perfomance problems is the fact that the Switch has a pretty weak processor and there are a lot of pokémon on the screen.

I have a powerful PC to run the game on the emulator and the stuttering can be completely gone.

I do love the visuals in the Scarlet and Violet ending though. And area zero looks very cool.

But except for the steel types that now look more metallic, I honestly prefer how pokemon looked in SwSh. In Scarlet and Violet I tend to think that they look as if they were made of Play-Doh.

In SwSh they had way more vibrant colors and in my opinion pokemon camp is cooler and far more inmersive than pokemon picnics.

You give WAAYYY TOO much "benefit of the doubt". These games, since you arent a "gamer", are what is associated with the best of the best in terms of price. That means thats the standard the company set forth. They exceedingly underperform in that regard in both terms of content and performance. Period. Saying you arent a "gamer" with the amount of viewers you have based on gaming and that you arent trying to convince anyone just seems disingenuous, and seems you are attempting to shield yourself as well as the game from criticism while being extremely upbeat and ok with the robbery of millions of fans who paid the industry standard for the best of the best.

Pokémon needs to stop with the gimmicks…period. Terastalyzing is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. They could have made it look so much better. And the end of the game pissed me off… literally a fucking running simulator… just run for forever until you reach the bottom.

Going into this game I was hoping for this game to surpass or at least be on par with Gen 7 and I’m happy to say that these games made me not biased towards Gen 7.

Also the Area Zero theme/battle instant classics.

Area Zero has to be one of my favorite Pokémon areas I’ve ever been too.

Yea it may not be as cool as going to different dimensions but the idea that a world like Area Zero exists in earth is so cool.

If it had set mode, this game would actually be decent in how challenging it is. But since I could switch when I wanted to, why wouldn't I take the opportunity to. I miss Set mode

I'm imagine engine noises whenever i see footage of Miraidon driving around.
Still kinda wish it would walk with its damn legs sometimes but oh well.

soundtrack, story, and shiny hunting wise these are my favorite games

Talking about the Pokémon, i don't like a lot of gen 9 new mons, i liked more the gen 8 ones if i have to compare the last gens

There is no way in hell there's hundreds of trainers to fight there's like 120 tops but I love it cause I got a female cat but then talked to the Tauros owner and my game froze so I lost her 💀 I did skip Arc though cause I knew it wouldn't be used for the sequel game

The bigger issue than any of the performance is the fact that you can't wear anything but the school uniform imo. I love customizing my character in pokemon games and felt like this game was a bit lacking as a result. Which sucks because the character models are more detailed and customizable than ever.

Everything else outside of the performance was mostly awesome. The games aren't perfect but they're a hell of a lot of fun and they push Pokemon in a good direction.

I killed the fighting team star boss's bus 10 levels down using a rocky helmet and roughly 25 revives

Ya know what? I loved this game. Genuinely. Graphics and animations? Meh, could use work. Everything else? I love it. I’d say this is some of the best map and character making they’ve ever done. Also area zero is personally one of my favorite video game areas period. I’ve played games like Elden ring, and I still hold it at that high of a standard.

One small problem for me is that they took away the vibrate effect for the healthbar after a super effective move was hit on it. They did it in sun and move and it felt right, because it really showed the power of the move.

This game sucked….

First things first- Nemona was a good rival. My favorite character in the game. Now time for the bad.


1. Clive
2. Everyone is a loser. Team star being just a bunch of bullied kids that couldn’t overcome natural obstacles in life and resorted to degeneracy. The box art legendary Pokémon is just a common Pokémon from its time with nothing particularly special about it, also a loser because its just a smacked ass that got beat up.

3. Horrible champion. Empty shell, corporate politician personality. Sucky Pokémon.

4. Victory Cul de Sac.

5. The corporate interview process for challenging the Pokémon league and the bland single room elite four.

6. Weak adventure. Nothing too serious or particularly threatening. No major criminal organization or earth altering events.

7. Box art legendary doesn’t have flight capabilities on par with Latios/Latias ORAS in post game. Traveling remains a chore.
8. Glitches- I got stuck in the floor of poco path and had to look up how to go back. Lost an hour of save file.

9. Uniforms and the entire concept of being a student opposed to what we previously had- freedom! Being just a random kid being sent out into the world on our own adventure.

10. Paradox Pokémon can’t breed. There’s no explanation for this. I presume their parts still work no matter what time period it is.

11. There’s no real adults in the room. It seems incumbent on the protagonist to fix all the problems. Lance battled team rocket with you, alder confronted ghetsis and N. This Gen it’s all on you to clean up a mess.

12. Penny is not in prison.

14. After credits and major events, you spawn in your dorm instead of at home. I personally didn’t care about school at all. I would’ve appreciated becoming a champion then immediately going home to mom.

14. They don’t let you choose where you want your final battle with Nemona. I personally wanted the beach as it would have brought everything full circle.

15. Generational gimmicks. I’m sick of them at this point. I like new features, but that’s exactly what I want-features! Everything is a gimmick just for the current Gen nowadays and nothing stays. There’s no reasonable canonical explanation as to why we can’t have mega evolutions this Gen. Where were all the double battles? Etc.

16. Limited access to Pokédex. It’s 2022. I want to play with all the Pokémon, not just the flavor of the week. Gen 10 comes out around the 30th anniversary. They better have something stellar for us.

16. Lack of “environmental immersion”. As stated, not being able to enter most buildings or interact with people sucks.

17. Half the populace is a student. I don’t even understand this.

18. Overall quality. Why is Colosseum still pretty much the greatest 3D game we’ve had for Pokémon and it’s been nearly 20 years?

19. Only one each of Kurts poke balls? Better hope they don’t break out!

20. Still can’t get a two parent household. Jesus.

Its the worst open world game I've ever seen, everything looks like a flat PS1 era release title and runs like a train carrying a thousand kilos of cement.

I agree and its a strange feeling. Like if they patch all these bugs this would be legit the best pokemon game ever and they would make BANK, bring in more fans, etc. I really want them to announce a proper patch and a patch the game cause I feel kinda robbed in the sense that this is a game I've been waiting for for so long but I cant help but not get immersed. This is a good pokemon fan review, I would love this game to get fixed.

This game was solid. It had some great concepts and ideas and the gameplay is good overall. The problem is that there are so many flaws here. The major one is the performance. The characters are average. Nemona is a good character but not a good rival. Team Star is by far the worst evil team by miles and the story is meh aside from the last arc

Music shouldn't be a main selling point for a game. You can listen to good music without ever booting up the game
