ОтветитьGetting close , nice !!!
ОтветитьCome on dude I want this
ОтветитьDave!!....dang man this thing is coming along nicely, your not messing around bro. I can't wait to hear how she's gunna sound.
ОтветитьDave I am about to start my first kit. Did you place the trim around the headpiece of the neck or was this included in the kit? BTW fantastic axe and I'm digging the theme music.
ОтветитьThat's not how you apply wood glue
ОтветитьTip: moisten wood surfaces first..let set for ten minutes.....this opens the cells to accept the glue...
Properly done, a glued joint is stronger than the surrounding wood...if it breaks, it won't break at the glued joint.
Having built about 12 guitars from kits over the last 4 years, I was surprised that you made no mention of checking the scale length before gluing the neck. I have built a couple of kits where the measurement from the bridge to the 12th fret was 7mm longer than from 12th fret to the nut (would be unable to tune ) This required the heel of the neck & fret board shortening by 7mm, trickey but possible.
ОтветитьI agree with Douglas. I can't believe you didn't measure the the distance between the nut and the 12th fret and the 12th fret to the bridge. If you were able to properly set the intonation you got lucky
ОтветитьThese kits are a bit fucked... I own a small US based electric guitar company and thought about breaking into the kit market for a minute. I ordered one of these from the same vendor... I noticed pretty nasty joints and glue stains... Also the neck break angle was ridiculous and required modifications beyond the reasonable mark.. The spalted veneer is paper and way too easy to sand off if you get it too wet. Anyway, I hope it turned out ok...
ОтветитьI think you should get a job at gibson as chief neck setter, they have millions of pounds worth of specialist equipment and still manage to put the necks on at strange angles!
Ответитьare you sure that the neck wont snap out of the body?
ОтветитьHave some guitar with your glue dude...
ОтветитьWrong GLUE! I can't smell it! Hide glue, after the Kentucky Derby the price is right! Free burgers!
ОтветитьGlue to Glue?
ОтветитьJust my personal opinion. I think you should have let them clamps on at least 24 hours just saying.
ОтветитьI usually just set the pick up with the trim ring in the cavity so I know exactly how far to slide the neck down, just something I learned to do over the years. I have done many kits over the years and you pick up little tricks. Also, keep a bowl of warm water next to you, with a sponge, to wipe off the excess glue, the warm water works great at removing the excess glue, makes it easier than having to sand off the excess dried glue later. I use Gorilla wood glue also, never had a problem, guitar snobs will tell you to use Hyde Glue or Tite Bond.
ОтветитьHaha love the entertaining personality, Dave! I almost thought you were Fred Durst 🤣 Haha loving your videos man! You earned my sub
