Better if a thermostat locks open when it fails.
ОтветитьI know you guys were gonna blow the motor on purpose, you said as much at the start of the video and yet I still found myself getting irrationally angry at the nonstop revving. 😂
I was like "STOP REVVING THE G**DAMN MOTOR YOU PSYCHO!"
Lol I knew it was on purpose and my inner car guy still couldn't help himself
The energy on the VO made me a tad worried about morale at Donut HQ...
ОтветитьThis was a great breakdown video. I enjoyed learning about what caused what to happen.
Thank you gentleman.
Run too cold... I don't think that's how it works. The thermostat is also used to regulate the coolant in the radiator to slow down flow so the coolant can be cooled. If the thermostat is stuck open the coolant has no time to be cooled by the radiator.
Ответитьsinging the American anthem to a German car
ОтветитьIf you already checked with the 2000th inch, then all "above" should also fail... Right. So not surprising that the 7000th failed since it is waaaay thinner
Ответитьbruh 6 months ago my car overheated💀😭😭 and it messed up a lot of stuff for my civic😭
ОтветитьDey gon put an s54 in
ОтветитьOnly at Donut would an engine NOT have a catastrophic failure the one time you try to have one😂
ОтветитьYou boys should host a cruise-in here in Denver! Whole lotta donut fans out here
ОтветитьTwo cans of engine restorer would have fixed that.
ОтветитьYears later and still the best car channel.
ОтветитьAs a re-collect a 4 door E36 M3 owner I m surprised how good the car is after the rebuild, the car is amazingly modern, while it feels like the engine sits very solid with the mount! Can’t believe how yours jump, I wonder if mine doesn’t that just so I couldn’t see it, but I also semi baby that thing, don’t really drive it much
ОтветитьHEY DONUT! Test the effectiveness of turning on your fan at high heat to cool down your overheating engine.
ОтветитьI liked donut b4 it was clickbait. What happened u warped the block/head damn sucks didn’t even have to watch the vid
ОтветитьI really believe that you should have gone into the some minor non-destructive testing, it shows a lot of the cracks and fractures that can occur during overheat you can't see with the naked eye.
Great videos, keep it up
Bruh we have the technology 😂
ОтветитьDuh… come on, guys, this is basic maths: 1/2000 in > 1/6000 in > 1/7000 in.
No wonder the feeler gauge felt easier to slide under: it wasn’t 3x thicker as y’all stated but 1/3 of the tolerance.
If you’re trying to be educational, pls don’t allow for such obvious mistakes
ok it seems down for counting, but you failed big time at killing that German masterpiece 🥰
ОтветитьYou should have sent it over to "I do cars" :)
ОтветитьThe Tony Hawk special sound effect mmmm
ОтветитьZach's hair entering Fabio levels of majesty
ОтветитьYou guys make such good content
Ответитьeasiest way to fix an overheating e36,throw in a diesel radiator kek
ОтветитьI’m so weak man threw a wrench at it
Ответитьheeey Donut. Greetings from greece. Please guys update your merch stock and bring back the original black color. Turbo creeps and pop up headlights styles were dope.looking forward to new collections 🤟🤟
ОтветитьDo you have a rebuild kit for a 2003 m54 that the previous owner took poor care of and put the wrong fluids and gas in?
Ответитьcome on, cam and crank bearings only test by squish not by looks.
ОтветитьTime for a 2J swop in the BM....???
ОтветитьThe BMW gauges look analogue but they are digitally controlled and the data is altered. If you turn on the service menu on the display, you may display the actual temperature. The gauge may read dead middle even at temps as low as 75°C and as high as 115°C.
BMW did that to prevent owners from showing up at the dealership saying their car runs a little hot.
On one hand they avoided lots of false alarms. On the other hand, they stripped everyone from the ability to self-diagnose fan motor issue, stuck thermostat and other problems. I had an e46 325ci, on which the dealership forgot to plug the fan back in after maintenance.
After 2 days of driving, during which the gauge was always pinned dead in the middle, my expansion tank exploded after 1 minute of idling at the traffic lights.
If the gauge hadn't been programmed to display nonsense, I would have been able to notice something was wrong and turned the engine off before anything got damaged.
Luckily the dealership paid for everything as I recorded a video of me exiting the steaming car and opening the hood to find a disconnected fan socket.
But having a digitally altered 'analogue' gauge in a car with an inline6 engine this sensitive to overheat head-warping is a deadly combo.
When you overheat a car it gets too hot.
ОтветитьThis is why using water as your coolant is stupid. There is so much crap that could be in the water that will cause it to clog like that
Ответитьwhats that frot bumper
ОтветитьThis episode is top tier, you guys did good work and the camera work and edit is 10/10
ОтветитьThe graveside skit was funny as hell when you threw the wrench & the dirt on the engine.
Ответитьi once let all the smoke out of a piece electronic equipment. It never worked right after that.
ОтветитьI miss car shows.
ОтветитьI also overheated an engine once, just by accident. I mean the car was a little Saxo, it was a piece of shit but I really liked not having to worry about my car for once. Poor little thing.
ОтветитьI have a e36 318is with 276k miles I use for drifting, besides headgaskets I don't think my engine has ever been opened. I'm planning to open it up at the end of the next drift season as it still read good for compression at the end of the season
ОтветитьDoes a good complete coolant flush clear out those little coolant passage ways ?
ОтветитьRepent to Jesus Christ ”Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.“

Donut is probably the only channel where I actually watch their ad/sponsor portion of the video purely because they're clever, funny, and entertaining. Props to you guys. 👍 I'm sure they have plenty of happy sponsors.
ОтветитьHELL YEAH BRUTHR
ОтветитьIm glad they get to have fun while making these videos
