Mongols seems to be the closest to Warhammer demonic horde in real life. Cruel to a grotesque level, unstoppable, innumerable, foreign, hard and harsh, I think only the Nazis could compare with them in the levels of genocidal rampage over the Eastern Europe. I don't blame anybody seeing them as a God's punnishment.

About 11% of the world's population was killed either during or immediately after the Mongol invasions, around 37.75–60 million people in Eurasia.

Nos amikor miránk törtek a király seregével megindult ellenük vele tartottak római papok, keresztes lovagok és más nyugati országból is jóttek katonák , az elsö összecsapást megnyertük aztán megérkeztek más mongol seregek bekeritettek bennünket, a király szekérvárba kényszerült, ahol róma orv gyilkosai megakarták gyilkolni, nagy nehézségek árán hozzá hüemberei segitségével sikerült kimenekülnie , délre menekült ott ujjá szervezte az országot várakat épitett, majd egy késöbbi nagy tatár támadást vissza vert, nagy gyözelmet aratott amit a mongolok a mai napig emlegetnek és ezután a vereség után már nem mertek több támadást inditani ☝️ugyanez volt amikor hunyadi jános nándorfehérvárnál megverte a törököket 70évig nemmertek magyar területre jönni ☝️

The Mongol Incursion: An Analytical Review of the 1241 Invasion of Hungary

Historical Review:

The narrative recounting the 1241 Mongol invasion of Hungary provides a poignant portrayal of both devastation and tenacity. This study delves into the multifaceted aspects of the invasion, examining key events and the subsequent resilience displayed by the Hungarian populace.

Antecedent to the Onslaught:

Led by Batu Khan, the Mongol horde had previously wrought havoc upon Kievan Rus' before redirecting their formidable forces towards Hungary. King Béla IV, initially skeptical of the impending threat, hastily organized defensive measures in response.

Unleashing the Tempest:

The Hungarian forces, confronted with numerical and tactical disadvantages, succumbed to defeat at the Battle of Mohi, resulting in significant portions of the country succumbing to Mongol dominion. Cities such as Aradia, despite valiant resistance, witnessed atrocities, including the desecration of churches and the execution of nobility.

Islet of Optimism, Ocean of Despondency:

In a bid for sanctuary, Master Roger and others sought refuge on an island, only to face an unforeseen Mongol assault from a concealed direction, culminating in a massacre.

Endurance Amidst the Wilderness:

The scant survivors grappled with starvation, resorting to foraging in the inhospitable forests. The specter of hunger loomed incessantly, and death became a frequent companion. Villages attempting to appease the Mongols were betrayed, with their emissaries slaughtered, exacerbating the prevailing atmosphere of terror.

Hungarian Resilience and Mongolian Retribution:

Undeterred, King Béla IV rallied a secondary military force, yet the Mongols, under the command of Subutai, inflicted another decisive defeat. As the Mongols advanced deeper into Hungary, villages were razed, compelling the populace to seek refuge in concealment. Incensed by the denial of anticipated spoils, the Mongols retaliated with merciless brutality, engaging in beheadings and plundering those unfortunate enough to be discovered.

Withdrawal and Regeneration:

Depleted and demoralized, surviving Hungarians retreated towards Transylvania. In this region, amidst persistent privation and danger, a glimmer of hope emerged as King Béla IV, bolstered by foreign knights and local forces, initiated a counteroffensive against the invaders.

Whispers in the Woodlands:

Survivors of the initial Hungarian onslaught persevered in their struggle for survival within the forests, haunted by hunger and the constant fear of detection. Roots, herbs, and meager scraps became their sustenance in the absence of recognizable landmarks and roads, perpetuating a sense of perpetual dread.

Anticipation on the Horizon:

Following days of adversity, rescuers located the beleaguered survivors, providing essential sustenance. These individuals, forever marked by their ordeal, eventually ventured back to their desolate villages.

Reconstruction from the Ruins:

Returning to a landscape rendered unrecognizable by the ravages of war, the Hungarian populace confronted the formidable challenge of reconstruction. With the collaborative support of the monarch, foreign allies, and local communities, the gradual resurgence of villages began, marking a testament to the unwavering spirit of the Hungarian people.

Culmination:

Master Roger's historical account, supplemented by contextual analysis and factual precision, affords a compelling and insightful examination of the Mongol invasion of Hungary and the subsequent resilience exhibited by its inhabitants. This narrative serves as a poignant reminder of the profound repercussions of conflict and the indomitable nature of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

Aren't Hungarians original Huns led by Attila who came from the steppes?I would of thought that the Mongols and Hungarians would have so much in common. After all Huns lived mostly on horseback against rome.

In Spanish (El Salvador) we say mongol when someone does something dumb, or are dumb. I don't know where it came from, maybe from the mongols, or the word mongoloid (Darwin and his race theories). Maybe that meaning traveled from Spain to the New World. I heard they burned a lot of libraries so idk

It is about Carmen Miserabile by Italian Roger or Rogerius. He was in Oradea în that time (1241-1242), but the name of that catholic town was "Varadinum", in Latin, from Hungarian "Varad". Master Roger was appointed archbishop of Split, in 1249, by Pope Innocente IV. We are grateful to him for writing about the event he witnessed. A unique book!

It was not invasion, it was a liberation attempt. Unfortunately, people are ignorant. They do not care history. At first, modern day people who live now in Hungary is not Hungarians, they are Magyars. And they invaded modern day Hungary in 869. Before that there lived Avars, before Avars there lived Huns. Both those people were related to Mongols. Mongols knew that they have a right to settle down in Hungary.

Complete Bogus. Kievans were equally brutal. Their queen Olga wiped out a tribe just because they didn't pay her tribute and also bcz some of them murdered her husband . And now she is venerated as a saint in orthodoxy. Have you guys heard her 'Give me 3 pigeons and three sparrows from each house' story? It's on wiki. Others were equally horrible. Past is horrible and painful and anyone who seeks glory from past is a fool.

For those wondering what happened as retribution, they were crushed into a minor existence by well equipped army's from central Europe in a later period. They didn't approach Europe again. I have always found it funny how the Mongols are portrayed in modern history as great warriors when in fact, the majority of those they fought were farmers and ill-equipped soldiers. Their winning streak ended when they met proper armies. Fight fire with fire 🔥
