I knit a Ranunculus sweater with the Coast and a Kidsilk held double. I can really recommend the yarn and the combo. Cheers!
ОтветитьHello from Toronto. I agree that Supersoft is a misnomer.not a yarn for me as I have super sensitive skin. Even some merinos bother my skin.,
Ответитьcassis = ka-SEECE = blackcurrant in French. Crème de cassis = blackcurrant liqueur = kir. Put kir into champagne and you're got yourself a Kir Royale. And then knit.
ОтветитьAbsolutely love your color choices!
ОтветитьI knitted a couple of Tshirts in Holst coast and they are my favorites to wear.
Ответитьwhere did you get those rolls of yarn from?
ОтветитьGreat video and useful info. I use these yarns for Stephen West shawls mixed in with other brands. I’m glad to know I can double the strands to make a sweater. Thanks so much for providing this helpful material. 😊
ОтветитьI was just trying to research this topic and your video just saved me a ton of anxiety about ordering!! I will try both but I am super excited about the cotton blend one. So Coast is my favorite ❤️
ОтветитьI am Danish and I have knitted a lot with Coast and the fabric is wonderful to wear!
ОтветитьI actually have thought about buying the super soft cones in my favorite sports team colors for a hat and knee high socks. I'm tiny so it sounds like I'll get more than a hat and pair of socks lol.
ОтветитьGod I miss this handsome man
ОтветитьWow these yarns are magnificent!!❤🎉❤
ОтветитьI know this is an old video, but they probably left on or reoiled the yarn for knitting machines, and yes once it's washed it'll come up soft. Thank you for the review it was very interesting. Cheers!
ОтветитьInteresting yarns. TFS! ❤
ОтветитьHi from UK. Thank you so much for this video. I’ve found it very informative and useful.
ОтветитьI really want to know how it took the dye and what dye was used!! Plzzz
Ответитьthank you so much for the review. I just received my order of the Supersoft. Anxious to try it out
ОтветитьThis is a game changer! I really wanted to knit a thin summer sweater for my mum but with how long she wants it, it would be close to $70 for just the yarn. I would want to see peoples finished garments and ask about pilling or memory but this looks amazing.
ОтветитьGreat review, thank you.
ОтветитьWhile I'm still trying to downsize my stash I couldn't help myself and purchased 2 spools to treat myself for how much I've reduced my stash. Got one spool of tide and one spool of super soft. I usually crochet but just taught myself to knit and can't wait to play with these spools.
ОтветитьLove this review! I just ordered my first come to make the Ankers Cardigan by Petite Knits!
ОтветитьThanks for the great tips
ОтветитьI find I use budget friendly yarns more than the pricier ones I spurge on since I'm waiting for the absolutely perfect pattern for the pricier ones.
ОтветитьSo I bought a cone! Can’t wait to start a new sweater!
ОтветитьGreat video, nice to see some quality but affordable yarn being promoted. Just found your videos recently and really enjoying your back catalogue. Something specific to this video I was wondering was how did you go about doubling up on the yarn from the cone? With small balls I'd run from 2 balls at once but with the value of the cone I'd rather just work from one. Did you wind it into smaller balls manually? Thanks.
ОтветитьThose big cones make me so giddy lol. So much project potential
ОтветитьI just ordered and used the Supersoft for the first time. I know this video is a little old, but did you feel the yarn had an unpleasant smell? After a wet block I felt it smelled off.
ОтветитьI love the idea of saving money with the cones .I bought some but how do I make knitting from them more portable? Do I have to hand wind them into balls? Thank you
ОтветитьI'm planning on trying my first sweater, not sure if knit or crochet - but having a budget friendly way to do it is really exciting. Glad I found this recommendation, great review.
ОтветитьI can’t imagine the shipping and duty you must have paid for such large cones 😱
ОтветитьI love holst garn yarn, and I find that it usually seems to take until the third wash of a sweater/hat before it really softens up. I think the oil just hangs out for awhile even if you Think you have gotten it all off.
ОтветитьI currently knit the sonrae sweater out of the coast in cobalt and californian breeze. This yarn is amazing I already knited a sweater (Gogink from Marmelade / Marie Amelie Designs) in the supersoft however it feels a bit scratchy on my skin.
ОтветитьThanks for your recommendations on the Coast cones. I will be purchasing some soon and hope to start a blanket.
ОтветитьCassis id red currant in French. Maybe also in Danish?
ОтветитьI just found your video and it's completely convinced me to order some cones from Holst! Thanks for the swatches and info about the bloom - super useful.
ОтветитьHow do you hold the yarn double from a cone? Did you wind off balls then knit from two of them? Thanks!
ОтветитьI made the Ravello out of the Supersoft knit single stranded.
ОтветитьI have been knitting with Holst Supersoft for several years and love it. I tend to hold it double together with one strand of Holst Titicaca alpaca. It makes up into a lovely soft fabric. I highly recommend it.
ОтветитьI know it would take time to do this but what if you took the turned it into a skein and washed and dried it before you use it would it make it better to work with . And that is a good deal and beautiful done up.
ОтветитьAre cones only available as a special? I only saw individual skeins. Maybe I’m overlooking it?
ОтветитьHoly cow. The size of them would overwhelm me.
ОтветитьWould you please review Holst Garn Noble, when you get the chance? Thanks for the great content!
ОтветитьCaleb with the large cones, how do you get the second strand? Is there a way to pull from the center? Thanks 🧶🧶🧡
ОтветитьYou have a Bryan?! I have a Bryan too. 🥰
ОтветитьI enjoyed this episode a lot. I have heard people talking about this yarn before so I was interested in your review. The swatches looked lovely. I’ll be checking this out for my next yarn purchase.
ОтветитьGood review! I've recently discovered Hobbii, which is also in Denmark. Might check Holst Garn next time I want to make a yarn order. Love being able to get lots of yardage of a quality yarn for not expensive
ОтветитьRealize this is a bit older video. Wet Coast Wools, a lovely LYS in Vancouver, BC has both of those yarns. Not sure about cones.
ОтветитьI love indie dyed yarn and have quite the collection, but I have a special place in my heart for Holst Garn...particularly their Coast and Noble lines (Supersoft is a bit scratchy against my skin). I am actually knitting the Rowe Cardigan by Michelle Wang in Coast (I'm holding the yarn triple to get a Worsted gauge) and I'm loving it. I've knit some summer tanks out of Coast and they were in heavy rotation this summer.
ОтветитьVery interesting. Thank you.
ОтветитьDo you have a link to the cones? I couldn’t find them. Thanks
