During the Italian campaign, there was an Austrian officer who wrote to his wife: ''The French have a new general. This madman attacks us day and night, left, right front and center. That's not a way to fight wars''!

I think if Napoleon didn’t go off on a wild goose chase in Egypt and instead met Suvorov in Northern France during the War of the 2nd Coalition (1799-1800), he would have gotten his ass handed to him. Like the 3 of his future Marshals who were actually there actually did.

Napoleon like Caesar usually had superiority prior to battle. Alexander and Sulla had prior inferiority and won, so they should be rated higher. Napoleon four brothers were freemasons. He said I control the army, the freemasons and need only to control also the Church to have full power.
