Really well said!
ОтветитьThanks for this inspiring info! Very much nreded!😉👍♥️
ОтветитьI watched it to understand. I still don't. Someone stealing their childrens childhood because you like things more.
ОтветитьIm a hoarder! I built up mess, things, dust, notebooks, everything to keep me safe. I have ptsd from DV and Autism, and i really did build up a wall around myself to keep me safe and keep people out.
I used to legitimately miss it when i was out, missing my mess and wanting nothing more than to go in and sit in it surrounded by MY stuff. I didnt know what i was doing was hoarding, i didnt understand why i was doing what i was doing, i was just doing what i could to survive.
After lots of hard work, and i mean..these last few months have been some of the hardest times of my life. I woke up one day and seen the mess for what it was. I phoned cleaners who specialised in hoarding and trauma cleaning and tomorrow theyre coming to get rid of everything except my bed and electricals. I packed a small suitcase and put some books in a box, the rest is getting dumped. I now focus on having as few items as humanely possible.
Items will always hold extra value to me. I will always find comfort in my own mess in a way. I hope to find ways now to have that but not have it be my entire life.
The best advice i could give is, when youre ready, if possible, have someone else throw out your stuff. Not family, not a friend, but someone you have 0 emotional attachment to. There are lots of cleaners who specialise in hoarding and they understand how difficult and sensitive it is.
I picked out a few clothes, my instruments, some books, family photos and the rest is being dumped. If i havent used it in a month, i wont miss it. Im not going to be present while they dump my stuff because i cant bear it, but i truly cant wait until its gone.
Your channel is healing ❤
ОтветитьOMG, you are an angel. I have found someone who understands ❤
ОтветитьSo glad I found your channel! I need you so going to watch all videos
ОтветитьThank you!!!!!!!!!!!! Love from Ania from Poland
ОтветитьYour courage never ceases to amaze me. 💛
ОтветитьThank you so much for making this channel!❤️😢
I am a hoarder,and I relate so much to her❤️
What a beautiful and sensitive and loving soul she is to share this with us all❤️😢
Can anyone tell me what the song is that they played at the start? It’s really pretty ❤️
Loved watching this video - we need to offer a way of reaching out in a person-centred way based rather than a 'case-based' way where the person feels like an object of others talking about their home!
ОтветитьExcellent video! It is true that no one without a history of anxiety, depression and hoarding disorder can understand what it's rooted in and feels like. I have spent my life struggling with the exact same dynamics and root causes and self-comfort reactions that she is describing. Nothing makes me happier than, say, going on a trip and staying in a minimally furnished motel room where I'm not suffocating in mountains of crap. But when I get home and return to the triggers that affect my issues and disorder, I'm paralyzed again. I just recently retired and am determined not live out the last 20-30 years of my life like this, so I'm trying to heal my own disorder like she is. It's actually not so hard if you've already been in therapy. It's pretty easy to know how a therapist would guide you based on ample experience. But therapy alone does not fix the problem because you have to actually do the hard part -- the work! -- yourself. Anyway, so glad she's doing this, and doing such an excellent job of it.
ОтветитьListening to you.I come realize im.a organize hoarder.
ОтветитьI thank you for sharing ur story with us all. You're journey has helped me on my own. I used to have such a hard time getting rid of stuff when I was younger. I convinced myself as I got older it had tapered off but that wasnt the case. I do have ocd and anxiety and ur channel really helps me in my adult years. I got rid of so many clothes that I had kept since high school because I couldnt bare to part with them and ur channel helped me realize that it hadnt tapered off that I had just gotten used to doing it and i didnt see a problem with it..but as a wife and a mother now...I knew that had to change and you helped me do that. I got rid of over half of all my clothes keeping only what I wear. I was able to declutter my sons clothes as well keeping only the outfit that i brought him home from the hospital in. I feel so much happier with myself and with life in general. You are truly an amazing person and an inspiration to so many!
ОтветитьYou are such a hero! I’m new to your channel. I grew up in a hoarded house. My mom was a hoarder until her death. I joke that I’m one foot not in hoarding with the other foot on a banana peel…I’m just one more major catastrophe from slipping into hoarding. It is a daily personal battle that I am waging.
ОтветитьI’m trying to use your content to help my mom. Her condition is destroying her & her bonds with her family. I’m trying very hard to work with her & prevent or at least ease her anxiety. My sister & I both hoard though.& because of how I grew up I have always struggled with having a clean environment, but I am trying to fix this in myself. I’m trying to help my mother because she has said she is a hoarder & doesn’t want to be like this anymore
ОтветитьI don't think I'm a full blown hoarder, like I don't have actual hoarded spaces. But I had a lot of the same childhood symptoms. My stuff made me really happy, I had multiple collections, and I'd notice EVERY TIME my mom got rid of something. I'm working on being more of a minimalist now at 30, but I can see how it's genetic too. My mom has hoarding tendencies as well (worse than me) and I have an aunt who is a full blown hoarder. My boyfriend's mom is also a bit of a hoarder. I'm trying to be better so hopefully our baby won't grow up to be a hoarder, or at least be better at managing their items than I have been lol.
ОтветитьAmazing interview! 💖💖💖
ОтветитьAwesome interview, Mrs. Heart!
ОтветитьA really helpful channel to check out is Nourishing Minimalism....her advice gets to the roots of the hoarding mind set.
ОтветитьThe continuous lock down in my country has made my hoarding only worse. Not being able to have access to shops is currently stopping me mentally to continue decluttering.
ОтветитьYou are amazing.
ОтветитьExcellent interview! Took a lot of confidence to come clean, so to speak, on hoarding and telling us your personal story. Best of luck on your journey and thank you for allowing us to follow along.
Ответить❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

ОтветитьThank you always for your stories❤️ Both hoarders, and non-hoarders living with them, feel so helpless. So yes, let’s humanize hoarding, talk about it, believe that change can happen, and celebrate small steps!
ОтветитьFirst of all...bravo!👏 You articulated everything so well. Second, you look fabulous!
ОтветитьThank you for sharing your experience. I have nothing but love for you.

Courage...courage to go forward publicly revealing weaknesses and finding ways to overcome obstacles of collecting things. You rock Melanie ! Love your courage ❤
ОтветитьLove her channel
ОтветитьYou just triggered a memory in me. I would surround myself with things as a child to feel safe. I would pile laundry or plushies on my bed and sleep in the middle of the mounds. I'm not a hoarder but maybe I could have been if I would have had access to more things as a child. We were dirt poor. You are so sweet and have came a long way. Super proud of you!!🥰
ОтветитьGreat listening
ОтветитьBeautifully explained, you are such an inspiration! And I love that your name means Melanie "Reborn" 💗
