I have these panels and they work pretty good. however, moving them around and getting them to stand correctly can become a chore. The kick stands are good but as you mentioned, they are a little flimsy and don't allow you to push them further down as you would like.

Hi Jason, great videos! I have a quick question. I pre-ordered the pecron E1500LFP and I am looking for the best solution for solar powering it. Do you think 400 watts would be sufficient? And also would you recommend a single 400w panel like the one in this video or 2 200w panels?.. right now on Amazon there are 2 200 watt allpowers deal for about $400, while the single allpowers 400w panel is quite a bit more expensive...

Another great video Jason. One thought for your bigger comparison video is the quality of the sewing and fabric. I'm not sure how you would rate such details but considering how often portable panels get moved around and baked in the sun, it might be worth figuring out.

would this panel work with say a bluetti eb3a?
its difficult using just 100watt panels and finding adapters. i think im done with 100watt solar panels.
i also have a pecron 600lfp, ecoflow river 2 max and river 2.
looking for one high wattage ring, hehe, panel to charge them all

The problem with these portable panels is secure deployment. Sure, setting one in your backyard next to your garage is easy, but try this in a windy campsite. I have a couple of Ecoflow 160W portable panels. They are great producers, but securing them against wind (not to mention theft) is such a chore that I rarely use them. The fixed panels on the roof of my Airstream are hassle free.

I didn't know about the heat affecting the output of the solar panels. I live on the Gulf Coast where we have had many days of above 100 temperatures - 104 today. Will the extreme heat damage the portable folding panels?

As always great video. Would be interesting to see the comparison videos. Seeing that I just purchased two bifacial solar panels, makes me wonder if going this route with a single 400 watt folding panel would be a better set up at the beach where it is normally very windy.

I am thinking 200 watt is large enough in the 'portable' category. IF you need 400 watts of power on-the-fly it would be easier to set up two 200 watt panels . . . . and depending on 'best' scenario wire them in series or parallel . Also 'shading' could become more of an issue with the one large/long panel BUT with separate smaller panels they can be set apart for bestest solar exposure . . . . Stretch them wires ! !
Okay, I am always looking for options . . . . . Nice Review ! Thanks, rh

Oooooh let's see the EcoFlow panel wipe the floor with this one. 😬 I was very intrigued because of the price but seeing the wattage input made sense. There's usually a reason the expensive panels are expensive!

I have the AllPowers 100 watt foldable panels and when I saw you were testing these I had to see how they performed. The foldable panels are good to just throw in a pile and hook up to. They're so flexible you can nearly forget trying to get an angle on them, but they perform fairly decently. Two running in parallel will give me north of 150watts just laying flat on the ground in Ohio in early August. I say north of because my little solar generator only accepts 150 watts and scraps the rest. In other words, I have all that I can use now. I am really just getting my feet wet in all of this stuff and I subscribed a few months back along with hobotech and a few others. Now that I'm starting to pick some of this stuff up I'll comment on those videos that are about them. It's good to see how other people are getting along with this stuff. It tells you if your stuff is working right or maybe you've got an issue if nothing else.

Wow, great price and review! You should see if you can get one of the EcoFlow 2 axis trackers to use with your reviews. I think that you would be surprised with the difference in the amount of power you can collect with tracking (about 30% more than fixed). Maybe they will give you one for review!

Those look really flexible. Which I actually have learned to not enjoy. When they age a little and get really hot, they are super difficult (at least the ones I own) to keep up-right. They just want to sag. At least the sections have lots of kick stands.

Just adding to the discussion regarding real world performance for those interested. I purchased Bluetti's PV420 panels (portable 4 panel monocrystaline; $699) on Indiegogo September 2022 and they arrived Jan 10, 2023. Immediately tested the panels in the early afternoon here in Phoenix using my AC200 (not 200P or 200MAX) and consistently got 373 Watts for 88.8% efficiency under non-ideal conditions here in Phoenix, AZ. Ambient temperature was about 67°F (19.4°C). The four panels appear to be wired in parallel as determined by intentionally shading each panel independently. Each time, the total output dropped by approximately 25%. BTW, the panels have 'kickstands' that can be adjusted to one of several different angles to maximize captured solar energy.

Great review Jason!
The highest I've gotten on my Allpowers 400W panel was 324W yesterday which has off and on clouds. I think there's a little more there so it'd be great if it could hit 350W.
It's pretty heavy compared to newer 300-400W panels, so I'd love to see how the newer panels from other brands compare. There's a decent amount of offerings in the 300-400W range now compared to before when it was only EF and Bluetti.
Look forward to a comparison!

you were saying that these Solar Panels don't perform at their maximum output when they are hot.
I was wondering if a Fan was placed to blow across the panels, while they are in direct sunlight as this test was, if that would have a change in output.

I have the Bluetti 350 watt folding panel I got on special on Bluetti's site for $509 a few months back. I haver not had the chance to test it. The weight of the panel is an issue since I am older. I believe at 30 lbs. On the last wave a sales I did pick up two Bough RV 180 watt panels for $224.00 (a steal on that) I will attach those to an RV and use the Bluetti if I am parked overnight. Note. I am running the AC 200 Max solar generator. My goal is a full 900 watts solar for the AC 200 Max.

This review did not improve my opinion of AllPowers; I believe one of their smaller folding panels is the only panel I have ever simply tossed for incompetence; it could not charge my Samsung cell phone. When I tested it under bright sun, iirc it was outputting around 4.7V instead of 5V (most smaller panels I've tested actually output 5.1V-5.2V). That no-load voltage probably dropped to under what the phone needed once actually connected.
It would be great to see a review of a "real" 400W panel, which I suspect Ecoflow and/or Bluetti actually offer. I believe the big Dokio panels are also ETFE. The included charge controllers are cheap and the label rather melted off of mine in the heat, but the panel was working. Note it uses SAE rather than MC4 connectors.

Looking forward to the comparison video. I have one of these, and three of the EENOUR 400w panels that I use for backing up my FFPower stations. In addition to a comparison of the Solar Panels, I'd really love it if you could identify any portable ACs that can run off the FFPower or Oukitel or other powerstations without tripping the protection circuits. Thanks again!
