To be fair there's plenty of boring conversation out there. I've sat around women, and sometimes men for that matter, but it's more often women at work who are talking about literally nothing that matters while I'm thinking about the bruising sign on the cosmic background radiation map being signs of other universes pressing against the fabrics of this or the collapse of our civilization or even our species, and what if we really are the only technical civilization in the entire cosmos, the only time the universe has truly become self aware on this level? The responsibility to not mess this up is enormous.

As much as Elon Musk is glorified, there are some serious problems. Tesla and SpaceX exist because the government heavily supports them. There is no discussion about whether Tesla would have survived without the emergency government bailout in 2008. If this is true, why are we glorifying Elon Musk? He was blessed by the government. He is the richest man in the world because of the U.S. taxpayer. Why is that being glorified?

What she is describing is a classic symptom of Asperger’s /ASD.
He might be unable to feign interest so instead it’s probably better to say nothing. He might genuinely not know how to properly behave in these situations. I don’t think we should be too hard on him for this. There is a difference between being awkward and coming across as rude and being genuinely mean to people. As long as it’s not the latter I think we should give him a pass.
As a woman on the spectrum myself I’ve often been unintentionally rude or came across as bored and blank faced. It really hurts me to know that people think I’m being rude because I don’t want to be, I just don’t know how to fake interest or what to say about things that I don’t think about regularly.
