LiDAR is sold separately by DJI official store, and is not included in RS3 Pro Combo. Also, LiDAR requires additional power supply unit(aka battery) in order to work. Source: Amazon

Hi Film Riot, Thanks a lot for this informative video -- I really liked the closeup shots of the gimbal so I could see the build quality. At this point, I am not sure whether it is best to keep my Zhiyun Crane 2 for the next few years or upgrade to the RS3 Pro. I have had the Zhiyun Crane 2 since 2018 and have been using it to make walking videos -- feel free to check them out on my channel. It is calibrated nicely to compensate for sudden turn movements (good amount of deadband). Though the micro jitters and z axis bounce movement can bother me sometimes -- especially on intense hikes.

I am wondering in your opinion whether it is worth it to upgrade from the Zhiyun Crane 2 to the DJI RS3 Pro?

Can the Ronin Rs2 assesories work with the Rs3 ?

Would the Ronin Rs3 be able to support the Canon 90d with the 18-135 mm lens ? I’m having trouble finding the answer , thank you! This would be my first gimbal so I want to be sure it works!

Why do you need focus on the gimbal when you can set the lens to auto focus? Can someone please explain this to me?

I just got my second RS3 Pro from DJI after sending the first back after unpacking. The battery grip comes off if the locking lever is on open but without the safety button even touched. Once the grip is off it is clearly visible that the safety button moves a locking mechanism inside the gimbal but it does not hold the gimbal.
Now I got a new one and it has the same issue and when I called DJI they told me: That the battery grip falls off without the safety button being pushed is normal.
I would never trust this gimbal mounted somewhere or in underslung mode when by just accidentally touching the locking switch the whole things comes off. Anybody with the same issue?

I bought the RS3 not too long ago and I love it, however I am having an issue with it. When I connect my GH5 to the RS3 using the USB-C cable I can use all the functions like the record button and focus dial on the gimbal, but after a few minutes it disconnects. Has anyone else had this problem? I can't seem to solve it even with the help of DJI tech team.

Does the camera cage have to be removed? All reviews I've seen for the RS3 are with an uncaged bmpcc.

What do you use as a power solution for your 6k while on a gimbal?

Doesn't the basic version have autofocus? The transmitter is just to control the gimbal through the app, right?

Great review..question...will the RS3 will work with the Canon R3 camera which is a bit bigger than some other mirrorless cameras but it should still be ok on an RS3 gimble or do you think i should buy the RS3 pro which is kinda double the price of the RS3...thanx..

Although I appreciate the enthusiasm in the video, and the "In practice" segments I'd be interested in the real-world setup times involved in making that work seamlessly. It's not a criticism, I own a Sony FX3 FW 2.0 and a DJI RS2 and the old RSC, and a bunch of Edelkrone stuff here and there, and love them but getting everything to work together is sometimes laborious. Auto-lock is cool but not getting me to shoot faster and without issues.

I enjoyed your review. I also wanted to share an experience I've had with this set up. 

I initially set up the DJI RS 3 Pro using their directions on attaching the BMCC 6K Pro camera to the upper quick release plate. With the BMCC 6K Pro this meant attaching the upper quick release plate via one bolt to the bottom of the BMCC 6K Pro. After doing this I noticed that even after a short use with the RS 3, the bolt came loose on the camera - not a good sign.

I next mounted the BMCC 6K Pro in the Tilta cage. The cage secures to the camera via three bolts - two at the bottom and one at the top. Then, I secured the cage to the upper quick release plate using three bolts (which were not all available in the initial set up with just the camera). Now when I use the RS 3 with the 6K Pro the camera is much more secure. No loose bolts after use. Essentially, this change enables going from a one bolt configuration to a five bolt configuration. Especially for a camera this heavy, this makes a big difference. The cage is obviously the way to go with this configuration.

I’m aware the lidar focus can be used without the gimbal but can the remote focus be used without using the lidar as well? Is there a separate focus handle that can be purchased, either third party or from DJI, that will provide follow focus using the DJI motor provided you have set it up through the gimbal and calibrated the lens?

The tuning knob is exist in the rs2 !!!
