It's a rather unnerving for this novice to have my AVG Antivirus block the fan control driver (Fancontrol.sys), citing "Vulnerabilities that can cause your PC's operating system instability (sic), or even put it at risk for a hacker attack". I would appreciate comments from anyone who understands this issue. Thanks.

I was also scammed around 2yrs ago, but luckly am type person that could prob scam you Lol... anyhwhoo I use Revo Revo Uninstaller, GPU-Z which I really don't understand much about JJjjaja . Seems going to have to make some changes to my old pc, but works like a charm ....Disk Cleaner & Optim Mthly and other clearing nicknacks, sure like to learn from you so I will be following you...............not stocking hehehe

I use RealTemp 3.70 that shows cpu/gpu temp in system tray in real time wich is good in general... but MSI Afterburner is very good.

One totally free software I use a lot is Liberkey. It has tons of useful free portable apps like those that Jay spoke about. I actually discovered them by using Liberkey.

OCCT is not free anymore

A few that I love are:
f.lux - Automatically reduces blue light during the night time to make it easier to sleep after looking at your screen.
Listary or Everything.exe - Can quickly find any file on the computer.
Lightshot - Useful for quickly taking screenshots of portions of the screen.
Treesize/WinDirStat - Great tool for managing disk space.
Obsidian - Useful for taking notes. I've heard Notion is a pretty good option as well. Has a ton of customization and plugins.
Dropbox (Free tier) - Nice place to store work and notes to have them accessible across all devices.

Here are a few browser extensions that I couldn't live without too:

Adblock Plus/Ublock Origin
Bitwarden - Great for storing passwords and can autofill the login fields on page load.

Noob here...Does fan control supercede other apps like icue where you can set fans, speed fan or nvidia panel controlling fans ? How do you know which one is actually working your fans ?

I use HiBit uninstaller. Maybe have a look at that program.

I don't use windows, I use Directory Opus. Directory Opus uses windows. Directory Opus by G.P. Software would have to be my goto piece of software, a directory utility to outclass them all.
