I also want him to write to parliament in a language that they would understand, as one (ex) public servant to another ie with facts and numbers, because I feel this is the only way that laws will be changed. It’s actually so refreshing to hear someone in the force (even if they’re retired) say we need to decriminalize drugs. He’s so right about the people who get addicted & who sell.

Yeah I hear people say more or less "longer prison sentences! More laws! More fines! That'll fix it!" Meanwhile lol...that has been done now for decades, upon decades, upon decades, upon decades nearly as long if not longer than the united states has ever even existed and look around.
No matter what President has been in charge or which political party, they seem to all say the same things and try the same things over and over agian and always come to more or less the same result.
I saw that albert einstein said that doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result is basically what insanity is Something new needs to be done.
There are people, who when this man said regulate drugs or whatnot they immediately shut their mind right off yet if you were to ask them what should be done....I can just about guarantee you they may very well say " Longer prison sentences! More laws! More fines!.....that'll get it."
Something new needs to be done because what they have done so far has done more and more harm than any good from all I've ever seen.

Anyone who even remotely thinks of the drug addiction problem and the solution we are offering will agree with this man.

I did a bibliographical study about 10 years back about the issue, I found that 99.5% of the budget to battle drug addiction goes to either arming police, paying their salaries or paying for prisons, only 0.5% went to actual treatment of the addicts... (USA numbers)

Who is better equipped to handle a health problem, armed policemen or doctors and psychologists?

Not to mention the fact we created a blackmarket for criminally minded people to thrive on and fund them with billions they can spend on weaponry...

I am not too fond of the pharmaceutical industry but give them those billions worth of business, at least some of that money will go into research.

You could cut 'illegal' drug use in the UK by 50% overnight IF doctors prescribed appropriate affective pain relief to patients who need it! As it is, there are many people with chronic pain who have a doctor who is SO terrified of prescribing pain relief in case the patient becomes addicted, and as a direct result, the patient is forced to source pain relief from somewhere else.

It must take a certain kind of snake to be an undercover copper, gaining peoples trust, even friendship, all the time lying through your teeth and the whole time thinking you're the "good guy" stopping the "scum". Anyone stupid enough to sell drugs to this fool deserved to get caught.

NO NO NO NO, drug addicts are not poor sad little innocents. They know they are doing wrong right from the start.

I know someone who recently got arrested for possessing that’s quite close to me, it was cocaine. He’s 19 and has been raised my 2 alcoholics has autism, is in the process of an adhd assessment, has CPTSD and was introduced to drinking at 14. He has sworn off all drugs and is learning how to drink a normal amount. His idea of ‘social drinking’ from his parents was 40 units minimum on a night out and he’s being treated as a complex case study at the course the police put him on. Now because it’s his first offence they offered a program for him to go on and if he does a set amount of sessions all mention of the arrest will be wiped from his record. He finished the program the day before he found out his new job wanted him to do a dbs check. This one stupid mistake could have ruined his entire future. He’s trying to get a job in an industry he’s wanted to work in but didn’t have the confidence to try and his stupid mistake almost lost it all. He lost a lot of other stuff too including the trust of his partner and his partners family so they’re trying to fix that and his family are split in that they are either ostracising him or supporting him. He hates that one stupid habit he got into because it made his head stop and the flashbacks would stop almost ruined his life, but luckily he’s been able to make it with minimal damage.

Some of the biggest buyers of drugs and I don't mean Pot is the Middle and Upper class, I grew up in a middle class background went to private school drugs were everywhere in six form and in the area. At University drugs galore, I didn't touch drugs I had a cousin who did he died of a drugs overdose aged 22 at Oxford. What a waste !!!!!!!!

For such a smart guy it's surprising that he is convinced that "people will demand" anything from politicians. That is not how it works and he either a scammer or very naive.
