So much programming for SH. I just have 2 Boss BCB-6's filled with effects, because Programming works with an agreed Set (even if it is just Bass like me). But he is full digital here.
I used to walk into Open Mic Nights, and park as long as I possibly could, if no other bassists showed up, I ran for a common 4 hours, there is no program in that.

As prolific a performer for as long as he has played, written, and recorded, the digital programming was invariably the only way SH could go to not disappoint people.

So his Amp is just doing the Power Section and the Floor unit is doing all Effects, all Pre, and all Amp Models. Still cannot blame him. I did not think I would look at his set up, I came to see CS's.

So CS was an Ampeg and Marshall guy. I knew of the Ampegs, but what is amazing is how old his Marshalls are.
I saw he was using Fender back in the YesSongs Video from the early 70's. The vibrato tones and things I thought were in on some Fender Amp, but Mutrons etc, no wonder people pay crazy prices for some of those effects. Nice that they all got racked.

A distant friend of mine, worked for Manny's Service and years ago had every single SVT of the Sting Tour come across his Repair benches. Was curious to see the use of the SVTs. They must have held up. Amazing relics, some of this gear. None of it would have been my choice, even back in their days.

I Peaked Out with the Yamaha PB-1 Bass Preamp, that in the end, decades later in an audio shoot out beat out the Neve Preamps for tone. I bought it because it was a seemingly affordable move to frequency biamping. 35 years later paid the same price for it as in 1982.

I never got to Entwistle's Ashdown, or Lee's Ashley, or Clarke's F-1 Alembic. Opening for Petra back in the late 80's the guys who made CS's 6x12 were running sound and had 2x Meyer's Cabinets, probably running McIntosh Amps, backfill per side. I turned off my Crown MicroTech and left the Speaker Cabinet in the trailer for the whole tour. That was a pinnacle experience working with Clair Brothers. (There are 2 PB-1's over here in a corner, bought one for the shoot out, Matt Forger, Engineer for Michael Jackson was shocked at its showing against the Neve.)

I never embraced running Tube Power Sections, even despite once having a Fender Bassman. Too unstable. Digital never did it for me. Only Heavy Copper Toroidal power Supplies made me happy.

After walking away in the early 90's, selling my bass to the Manny Repair guy, who some might have guessed is Andy Fuchs. I picked up a 5 string Ergodyne in 1999, and a Digitech BP-8 because it had a Jam-a-long Jack. I did not intend to play for people every again. (There are 3 of those laying around here and there in the house.) The point, the selections I made, were not scientific, and they turned out to be pleasant surprises. Same with the last Pre-Amp I performed with.

I was not going to play again, but a boss of mine who was a childhood friend of cliff burton, and carried his casket, heard me play and remonstrated with me to get an amp and play for people again.
Like CS I chose 12" speakers. I knew I did not want Tube power drama. Was not going PB-1 and power amps etc. Just picked a Genz Benz 12" combo with 300 watts and a SS and Tube Pre. I have 3 of those pre's in amp from laying around here, and one of them with the power section removed by Andy Fuchs.

(Again, what a surprise. I never expected sonic inspiration. I lucked out again on buying on spec.)

I cannot understand Chis Squire's choices of Amps, and a little envious of the 8 string option he had. Look at the GEQ settings pushing the high end off his tone! On BOTH! I always perceived his tone to be a little bright. TO think he was trying to get it under control, or not needing it to punch past the Organ and Keys? That wows me.

But the Marshall Amps...?? He still had them. All of Entwistle's Fender Basses disintegrated in the same time period. Yikes. And his SVTs, and his Ric, kept going.

The man was a blessing to my life.round

Sounds like a Great Set, Parallels, Turn of the Century, Awaken....
we're gonna pass on to his Tech because Obviously Chris Just Plays them he does not care what is under the hood anymore.
Steve..... The Exact Opposite, Knows his gear. Lot of his Guitars have been stolen. I like the Line6, but I am surprised it's his main Amp. That looks like it had Tubes in it though. probably
"The modeling front end of a Line 6 is merged with Bogner's world-class tube amp design and the result is an amp with rich harmonics, subtle compression, and the signature attitude of the vintage greats. The HD100 has two 12AX7-B preamp tubes and four matched 5881 power amp tubes". The Internet

Music is the key that can unlock one's inner feeling(s) that reside in some cases,
dormant in our souls till that combination of melodic genius meets the refined
precision of a master such as Chris.
He has the ability to reach deep into our souls, and touch parts hitherto unknown.
It's an awakening of spirit to be sure, what we choose to do with this gift of course is up to us.
Appreciate, share, marvel at his use of time and space, how he shapes the very essence
of each thought, and can transfer his gift to everyone.
Some of us are more fortunate than others, when we can connect with him on a different
plain, where he bridges that gulf of time and space, it is a true connection, that we are
powerless to control, we revel in every moment, the cadence, the tenor, the timbre of
each note can take us to another dimension.
My heart and soul become one during this embrace, and the feeling is one of pure delight.
Thank you Chris, when you gear up, there truly is a disturbance in the force, and it is heavenly, sublime.
Rest In Peace in God's grace, my friend, you are truly missed.

Met Chris in van nuys CA in 2002 when he had a solo project called Conspiracy, he was rehearsing with Billy Sherwood, Jay Shelling on drums and my friend Scott Walton ( also my pot connection) on keys. He was the nicest guy, watched them rehearse for an hour by myself, smoked a joint with him ! and left when they broke midway for pizza. When I was schlepping his gear in I confided he must have heard that ..he was a big influence on my bass placing, and he said yeah I hear that a lot.

I cannot believe the levels of history and musical invention we're seeing here. The bass and the player that paved the way for the entire genre of music, that rumbly, juicy, gnarly and sexy fuzzed bass with a melodic life of its own.
The bass that brought forward Genesis, Rush and similar bass tones of other bands.

The tech is hilarious:
"So what's this we're looking at?'
'Well, I don't know really, I guess Chris he just puts it..'
'You mean it's been like that all the time?'
'Yeah, since the 60-s. Well, gee. I guess we never really talked about it.'

Epochs came and went, while this bass and this sound were grinding away, all this time.
