I use to live in a refurbished asylum in NYC. My roommate and I were not privy to the knowledge of the history, and snatched that apartment like won the lottery. It had two nice sized walk in closets, and were fashion students who valued greatly valued the space. At the time neither of us gave a nod or wink at the thoughts of ghosts, haunting or spirits. The apartment was owned by University and all the upkeep, maintenance was suppose be upheld. We did a thorough walkthrough before we moved in days later. The level of chaos and unexplainable that we ensued was terrifying. Upon moving a carcass of a pet rabbit that had been left to decay for months was in one of the closets that we inspected days earlier. I kept buttons in a sealed mason jar in a box under my bed and we would come back to the apartment to be thrown across the room, the court yard’s windows unlatched and opened, heavy metal doors open, and pasta thrown across the floor. (It was the aughts and carbs were not in the diet of fashion students.) When these unnerving occurrences happened, a disgusting aroma would envelop the room. It was the smell of a rotting fish. It happened so often that I would keep a can of Fabreeze beside my desk in attempt to coverup the stench. We went to our RA to see if we could get maintenance to come in and do something about the smell, and to share swap war stories of our hauntings. That is when we learned the history of the building and the past three tenants prior passed by evicting their souls from their bodies. My neighbor was a famous homemaking celebrity who had a tv show before her arrest for insider trading. My window aligned with her personal office and saw her Monday through Friday. We only lived there for two semesters, and decided we wouldn’t be returning. We settled for a building with no physical closets, and just two measly wardrobes. The building has knocked down since.

My wife worked in a really haunted victorian school in kent. Lots of stuff happened in there such as heavy footsteps, dragging of furniture and voices and also an apparition of an old man sitting in a chair in the small paint room. It was definitely a unnerving experience for her
