What are Red Dot Magnifiers Really For?

Very dependant on vision. Some people can shoot well at 200y with iron sight only. I found 3x already inadequate at 100y as someone with below avg vision. I go with G45 5X, and am very happy with this choice.

If red dots came with magnification ........

I need a magnifier. Me with my leupold 1.5 to 6 torqued to 60 just shrugs.

I always saw them as an easier way to identify a threat at that distance of around 250 yards where you could still land rounds unmagnified but want to be sure what your shooting is a “bad guy”. Personally never was a huge fan, felt like extra weight that is underutilized. What do you guys think?

In my experience I had quite some issues trying to fit Juliet 3x with Romeo 4 and 8. I endend up using the triji one which works really good. No idea why, one would think that the same brand should work just fine but this was not the case

I have a Vortex 3X magnifier behind a Trijicon MRO green dot. I don't have experience with anything else, so I don't have any problem with it.

I think from what I've seen D J Shipley would disagree about your opinion of risers. I can't say yet that I'm comfortable with my Unity risers, but I do see what he's talking about. You just get so used to having to crane your neck down to the buttstock, that it's hard to change that.

I am looking to run a exps3 with the unity ftc /g33. This is the first video i've seen where someone says the magnifier obstructs nods. Is there a better solution?

I use the HOLOSUN 510C OPTIC with the HOLOSUN 3X MAGNIFIER on my Ruger 9mm PC CARBINE and it works fantastic!

If the magnifier is behind the dot, wouldnt it magnify the dot really big?

WHY IS THIS A DEBATE!!!! THERE ARE VIDEOS FROM FIELD CRAFT WITH GUYS WHO KILL FOR A LIVING UNLIKE YOU OR US THAT STATE UNEQUIVOCALLY THAT A LPVO WITH OFF SET IRONS OR RED DOT IS SUPERIOR!!! END OF STORY.

I don't know, for me, I just like having magnified optics, especially an LVPO, because it makes things easier to see. To me, 200 yards is pretty damn far to see what I'm shooting at. I even like magnified optics for 100 yards.

The way you guys whine about stuff (ie magnifier in the way of night vision) is so absurd. I can't loosen this bolt with my Philips screwdriver. Screwdriver manufacturers are so stupid!

Magnification helps with camoflaged targets, moving amongst cover, providing very temporary partially obscured targets at unmarked ranges. Basically, combat beyond CQB range.

That last issue is one of the reasons why I try to run my red dots and magnifiers absolute cowitness.

The flip to center are qd so them getting in the way of night vision isn't really a concern.

I noticed that you omitted the Trijicon magnifier for this video. Where does it rate on your list?

My mentality is that I will only go to an LPVO if I plan to make use of wind holds, bullet drop, team navigation, leading targets, range estimating... etc.

I if I only need magnification, I will use a magnifier on a red dot. Vortex 6X works good for me. If I don't have time to get my head into position, then I'm not flipping the magnifier over.

It it's easy to see that when I need an LPVO I use the PLX-C with the M8 Raptor.

What experience do you have besides the b roll bs I see in the vid? You trash on bullpups, red dots and a long list of other gear.

Flip to center mounts also are difficult to use in conjunction with irons. Flip to side are much easier.

Great video. ..but question/statement... while usuing an optic is possible with nvgs...... thats why you have a zero'd laser on the gun. Correct? I was always taught to use your laser as primary zero. The. Redundancy is the optic with your nods. As its not ergonomic at all lol.
