VERY very helpful! I just would like to know how to upload photos off my camera, taken in raw mode, onto a computer/laptop/website similar to facebook. I am trying to start up a soap making business and would like to create a website or use Facebook temporarily to sell. I have taken nice photos but cannot upload them onto mac laptop or hp laptop. :/ Thanks!
ОтветитьI have a question. I used to have a Lumia 830 back in 2014 and that takes RAW files and shoots 4K.
What is stopping my SX530 to at least shoot RAW?
While I see your point - and you sure got it right - this is still no fair comparison. The curve tool is a VERY limited tool, when it comes down to work on details not visible by default. I have seen comparisons Lightroom RAW vs Lightroom JPEG, which are not as dramatic in its results.
ОтветитьYesterday when i shoot some landscape pictures when trying out raw, some parts of the sky has this wierd and odd magenta color, it's mostly noticable around trees and etc. Why do i get this wierd effect?
ОтветитьIt matters not how you got me to follow along with the visual tutorial, what matters to me is I FINALLY GOT IT! This was a tool to teach me in the shortest amount of time and provide a visual example of difference between JPEG and RAW. I have sat through two courses and neither teacher was able to create a presentation as clearly as this 10 minute video did. Thank you Karl! This 7D is getting less scary and more usable after east tutorial. Every one loves RAW! And now I know why! Thanks so much Mate!-Bunnie
ОтветитьVery easy to understand, thank so much
ОтветитьThank you for sharing your expertise and experience
ОтветитьThanks for the tutorial Karl! Just starting on my Photography Journey and everything you went over in this tutorial makes sense. Big Thumbs Up and a new Subscriber. Be well, stay encouraged, and an Encourager!
ОтветитьNow this is the best presentation of the RAW vs JPEG topic I have seen. Great demonstration of the capabilities of each file type. And from the comments I am reading, some people just aren’t getting it. Karl never even mentioned “bad exposures” once in this tutorial. It’s not about making bad exposures look good. It’s all about using the tools that will allow one to get the maximum best out of his or her images to produce the best image quality in their work. Oh, by the way... That image that Karl is using in the demonstration happens to be a perfectly good exposure. We have to remember that as advanced as today’s image capturing devices are, they are not and may never be as advanced as the human eye. So even when getting a perfect exposure, the camera has limitations as far as range goes when capturing all the details. RAW records as much information/data possible to allow one to bring out the details which are concealed in the dark shadows and bright high light areas independently without effecting the entire image.
Now, I’m not lobbying against JPEG. I will shoot JPEG “only” depending on the situation and what I am shooting. It almost seems like many are taking it personal when it comes to the file format they choose for storing their images. In much the same way it seems many take it personal in regards to what brands of camera is better or which brand everyone should buy to which I also feel is nonsense.
Does RAW look better than the jpeg before you edit it?
Ответитьgreat video! especially for someone like me who's a beginner
ОтветитьOutstanding explanation. thank you so much. !!!
ОтветитьThat's the most awesome squarespace commercial I've ever seen.
ОтветитьRetired my Nikon D80 and replaced same with a Nikon D5600 only problem is my photoshop won't open my raw images with my new camera.
ОтветитьRaw is for pixel peeping junkies or high clientele photographer. I shoot event photography im not going thru 150 200 raw images. Fuck dat. You gonna get these S fine shots and have a nice day lol
ОтветитьWhat's the point of using raw if you can't uploaded what you edit with raw. No Instagram no gurushots and no messages.
ОтветитьMy good friend Pedro says, not one size fits all.. If youre doing a baby shower, if your doing a toyota photoshoot, if your doing work in a riot, if your doing the nba finals, or if your doing ants, like a chameleon, youd adjust n readjust to the situation; at times jpegs are the way to go, at times raw, etc.
Ответитьso just go for raw? mine has L+raw too.
Ответитьwhat is CR2?
Ответитьwhich version lightroom you used?? my lightroom 6 does not have any fill light mode
ОтветитьMay I just focused with the dialect? :D
ОтветитьThanks for the Knowledge mate. Was thinking about that today.
but i noticed tho that , my continous shot didnt keep up . only reason why is probably i cant have screen showing up after every picture i take. I cant explain it .but will shut it off for a test run
Thank you for explaining this so clearly!
ОтветитьGood explanation
ОтветитьWhich editing software you use
ОтветитьSo why can’t you paint or brush a tad more exposure into the shadow areas in jpeg mode? I don’t need a bunch of childish answers. I’m not a professional I’m just asking questions. Thanks in advance
ОтветитьThank you, this was the shortest and most simplest explanation video.
ОтветитьTechnically correct but not often justifiable for the most part in added time in post. I shoot as close to perfect in jpg mode and occasionally shoot both when I want a backup/failsafe option for high end client jobs. Otherwise JPG gives me awesome and manageable images.
ОтветитьHe uses the mouse with left hand. 😳 I’m amazed.
Ответитьcan you get the same quality of a RAW image if you have to convert it to JPEG due to your computer?
ОтветитьI have an old Kodak point & shoot camera, it is interesting that after taking a picture, that camera would display the picture for a few seconds before saving it to the card - and what it's displayed at this moment is a RAW file, with much more contrast, saturation, etc. But once the file is saved, when I open it in the camera or download it to the computer it is of course a washed out jpeg file. I wonder why can't these cameras just have an option to save the RAW files? It shouldn't be anything extra programming to add, basically it shouldn't cost anything more to have such option on any camera. Of course, most consumers wouldn't care about RAW files, but since it won't cost anything more.. And it's not about printing pictures from RAW files, sometimes it's only about being able to download RAW files to open them on my computer
ОтветитьThanks for the video!
ОтветитьTks so much for answering my newbie question!
ОтветитьIn the Raw+Jpeg modes do you you get one picture or two?
ОтветитьTake a shot every time he says RAW
ОтветитьThank you so much for this
ОтветитьBeautifully explained
Ответитьhe answered the question way at the end
ОтветитьThis makes me appreciate real time Smart HDR on the iPhone more.
Nevertheless having the RAW files can save your ass.
Thanks for u r knowledge sharing
ОтветитьRAW is definitely a superior format, no question there. But shooting in RAW is really only possible for the freelance photographer who has time to turn around images. Even if you nail the exposure, you’re gonna lose details somewhere. A perfectly exposed image taken in one shot (not combined) does not mean every part of the image is exposed for. Photography means you work with your light and make decisions for the image at hand. However, if you work in a fast paced environment where you can only edit a little, JPEG is really your only option. Especially for sports photography.
Having said that, RAW has absolutely saved some of my images. You don’t always calculate the exposure perfectly, so when you nail the mood and emotion but maybe lose some detail because you underexposed by a stop or so, RAW is a truly wonderful thing.
Also I think it should be noted that burst shooting all the time in every situation is wrong. Sometimes, you only need one shot and can therefore shoot in RAW and edit your image(s) quickly. It all really depends on your workflow.
In terms of file comparison, RAW all the way no doubt. It’s superior in every way. In terms of workflow, every photographer needs to make that decision for themselves and what they’re doing.
Can I ask you some questions please, i'm new with raw files and photography.
- Is it normal that my unedited raw files looks 3 times worser (litterly 3 times less pixels) but the file size is way larger, but when i import them into photoshop they autmaticly get 3 times higher quality?
- In what format do you export your edited raw files? I dont know in what format I need to export them...
Why shooting raw if you cant open it, edit it, or use it at all... just a wasting of memory.
ОтветитьBasically it’s uncompressed.
ОтветитьUnfortunatly, this is a very bad demonstration . He uses two totaly different techniques and tools on the images. So, of course, the jpg looks like shit in the end but that doesn't prove anything.
Ответитьprofessionals dont need raw that is only for idiots who cant to do nothing correct because professional can make brilliant photo with any camera on jpeg format photos ! i buy good camera with raw but i fuck that raw because i want make good photos self NOT WITH PC HELP !
ОтветитьI shoot TIFF no compression gfx100 can deliver 16bit tiff/raw
ОтветитьSo can I just shoot raw format on my TZ-80 and upload them to my p.c. as usual? Or do I need some special software?
ОтветитьWho the hell has time to do all that editing shoot jpeg bang your done still might have to tweak a couple of things.
Ответить
