Im Switching to an alcatel flip phone starting next month. Heres how i handled it From an XR And A SE OG:

-99% Of phone tasks------>Laptop
-Voice Memos--->Sony Voice Recorder (Love It!)
-Pics/Videos--->JVC Everio (Am Wanting To Start Using A 2000s Sony Camera For Pics)
-Location Sharing (To Be Tested Next Month: Apple Airtags)

I'd like to know if this phone can work to connect whatsapp web, the CAT S22 can, but I didn't like that phone, can you try it?

MAJOR RESPECT about the maps dude that seems like it would be a Huge challenge for me b honestly that maybe be more insensitive to try

I started on a flip phone and liked it then moved to a smart phone mainly because I broke my Nikon camera and wanted a decent replacement that didn't cost $500, but ended up loving the texting on the smart phone. But I am really fast on the old T9 style texting and I don 't do social media on my phone so I'm thinking of going back to my flip. I grew up on the lowest of low-tech so I'm totally used to stick shifts in cars, typewriters, dial phones and not being a slave to tech-toys.

My loved one lives far away she cant receive my texts what is a main cause or not getting a messages from an individual ? She has a consumer celler phone. Yes i might go to a old phone one day soon . I neee to get off my addiction to digital.

We can listen to our radios in our cars . It keeps many employeed at radio stations !!

Hello! I have previously tried CAT® B35, it was good with the opetation system, KaiOS. The sound quality (regular phone calls) was excellent when talking to people. But due to the limitations of the screen I could not use WhatsApp in an efficient way. Or use social media apps with any kind of success (there are apps in KaiOS with limited functionality).

The distancing from my smartphone addiction was good, my brain needs it. I could even share my 4G internet connection from CAT® B35 to my smartphone when I needed to use internet. It was a sealed device, which means you could not replace the battery when it got bad (didn't got to that point). For some reason I sold this wonderful phone. The phone used a lot of power if I enabled the tracking security system in KaiOS, so I disabled this.

I could even sync my google calendar with this phone...that was a really good feature.

I have questions for you about this Nokia phone.
- How good are the sound quality when speaking with people on this phone? (from both sides).
- Can you share the internet connection?
- Battery consumption with light use.

I remember flip phones having gps back in the day 🤔🤷🏽‍♀️ can u access maps through Internet? Also I just burn(copy?) the CDs in my laptop and move them into an SD card so I have the music I like with no ads 👍

I have been thinking about this challenge, but here, in Argentina, its too difficult to find flip phones or dumb phone or that type of phone, i'm hopping to someday get one and feel the experience 💪.

You should have enabled ultra power saving on your Samsung phone (One ui)that only allows basic things and 4 optional apps and also extends battery for over a week

I have a lot of respect for anyone who decides to get rid of their 'smart' phone, for a multitude of reasons. I am grateful I have never made that leap from a flip phone, and never had a job or anything that required me to have one, thank goodness.

A bit of a devil's advocate, but you can have the best of both worlds with some self control, restraint and boundaries. Switching to a dumb phone won't really solve the root cause of the problem, only make it impossible to get "caught up" in it again. If you can reach a point in your life when you don't actually have any need for stuff like social media, you won't need a dumb phone to keep you away from it.

arent there feature phones with headphone jacks and bluetooth? listening to music would be a top priority for me and i dont use any streaming service. i only need a micro sd card slot and a good music player + headphone jack and bluetooth

Your mindset is what you need to change, not the phone.
Have fun listening to music on that... Or not being able to type efficiently, not being able to take good pictures of nature or view pictures, the list goes on and on. lol
You don't need a flip phone to resolve your social media issue. If a flip phone is required for that then you are not targeting the issue correctly. I barely go on social media, like EVER, and I have all of the social media apps installed, which I open once in a blue moon.

A wonderfully charming video, I really enjoyed it. BUT! You accurately highlighted the pitfalls of what is essentially a reborn flip phone form the 1980's. Technology and the Internet have certainly moved on the the 2023 phone market reflects this with phones able to a) navigate b) play music c) use chatGPT d) surf e) watch video content f) emergency flashlight g) location broadcast h) read and reply to email and messages i) control the smarthome, [and more], oh and make and receive phone calls. All these features are there and sure they can be overused. You can doom scroll, you can hours per day pointlessly surfing. But that is an individuals choice! You just don't have to. That is the key point. I'd love to persuade you to come back to the 2023 style of doing things. Until then, take care and keep smiling, and definitely running.

I tried this last year and went back to a smartphone after a couple of months.. What I did that was great for me though was quit social media altogether. It was strange at first, but then I got a life and it’s been great - never going back. People need to live in the real world and not live a fake online life! All of my social media accounts being permanently deleted feels FANTASTIC! I only kept a couple messaging apps to stay in touch with people I actually talk to.

My phone just broke and I think I’m finally ready to downgrade and just as the dread of not having strata almost dissuaded me from the idea, I saw this and realised I can buy myself a flip phone and ask my paternal unit to splurge on a garmin for me (finally). Genius, genius!!

Yep I I tried this when I was in BE scores were high in that semester but Just gets difficult when you have UPI system nearby you.
