Popular luxury watchmakers have priced themselves out of business. Most younger folks can't afford to go out and buy themselves a brand new Rolex or Omega to reward themselves for a well earned promotion or a raise or achieving some milestone in life (which was how the brands earned their success with previous generations) as they are now priced 3-4 times what they're worth.
The current strategy will greatly affect brand recall in future generations and these brands will be relegated to the likes of the uber rich who are definitely less price sensitive but have many options at their disposal.
Since no one likes to spend money when there is so much uncertainty surrounding the global economy, the slow growth or decline in sales of luxury watches would make sense. After everything settles down, I believe things will return to normal. I appreciate the enlightening video.
ОтветитьThis video is missing the larger picture. It's not what's happening in the watch industry that's relevant. It's what's happening with people in general. When I go out, no one wears a watch. No one. Not my friends, not strangers on the street. Oh wait, except the apple watch. My friend Andrew has one. That's it. I walked into a star bucks, only two baristas had watches. Guess which one. Yeah, the apple watch. That's the real danger.
ОтветитьThe swiss need to get on their hands and knees and thank the heavens above for their consumers continuing to support the hype and the hikes.
ОтветитьSwatch will ultimately kill the Swiss Watch industry. Take an awesome workhorse like the ETA 2824-2, make it virtually unserviceable by removing the regulator arm, castrate a 4 hertz movement to 3 hertz & call it a day. I would gladly pay a premium for the old school but I will learn to adore Sellita. Dummies…..smh……
ОтветитьI feel bad for a person who legitimately needs a tool watch but can't get their hands on one. Say, a diver who needs a Submariner as a backup to their dive computer. I guess they can buy grey market or an Omega but sheesh, what a pain.
ОтветитьThey had it too good for too long
ОтветитьThis seems like a bad time for watch investors
ОтветитьI had no idea the watch market was in trouble, wow!
ОтветитьI did not realize that the Swiss watch industry went from 60 million units to today’s current 15 million units. No wonder the Big 3 command 6 figure resale per unit. Of course, if a watch costs what a car , house, or condo costs, then only a select few can buy a luxury watch from the Big 3. Even younger people won’t be able to buy the Big 3 and will find other affordable brands like the rest of us.
ОтветитьI believe with the grey market being so high, it kept normal people outside the watch market. If the grey market weakens it will just open up opportunities for normal folks to get desirable watches
ОтветитьMy young adult children have no interest in analog watches, worse they cannot read non-digital watches at a glance, unlike my generation (GenX) and older.
ОтветитьIsn’t FP Journe bought by 10 people and they all work at Govberg lol?
ОтветитьI m sorry but watches have become overpriced
ОтветитьThe fall of Greed…
Ответитьwell the slow growth or drop in sales on luxury watches would make sense, no one likes spending when there is so much uncertainty on the world economy. I think everything will be back to normal after everything going on cools off. thanks for the insightful video.
ОтветитьVery informative video, it's a great learning for me today. Thank you for sharing~
Ответитьhelpful video thks
ОтветитьExcellent video with detailed explanations
ОтветитьAlso, most of the smaller, more affordable brands are owned by LVMH, Richemont and Swatch etc. and they’ll be fine… ‘affordable luxury’ won’t last :)
ОтветитьSpeculators that get burned buying to make money took a risk, it didn’t pay off - what so investment companies always say of speculation ‘investments can go up as well as down’.
If this helps make brands that have been difficult to get like Rolex more affordable then that’s a great thing - if speculators lose money, that’s too bad - maybe they ought to do something else.
Worry, fear, uncertainty, are a problem, especially in a situation that we still face, post pandemic.
Ответитьthe pandemic then the war it seems like these businesses are only going to keep finding it more difficult to manage overtime though not in the long term
ОтветитьSure they have to worry, they'll notice a huge drop in the following period, economy drop affects every sector
ОтветитьMore people going homeless... It's the global elites plan...
ОтветитьInvestment in this niche is really uncertain, we should diversify our investments soon, nice video
ОтветитьUncertainty is surely a big problem especially after the pandemic, most of the things changed
Ответитьi can see the difference between the swiss Watchmakers and the other marks
ОтветитьThe manufacturers have a sense of worry, which means they have been rational, but the quality assurance of luxury watches has the prospect of this investment and I am still optimistic. Thank you for the wonderful content, which has inspired me a lot.
ОтветитьI'm always learning something new on this Channel...Keep up the great content
