This isnt music, but it deserves a spot in my music playlist.
Little bit of motivation everyday is priceless.

ОтветитьGreat video!
Ответитьdon't let that small little problem overcome you. but if the problem is that you aren't getting any game ideas... halt. play some popular games and get some inspiration.
ОтветитьYIKES
This sounds delusional
thanks, this helps me as a 12yo game developer (well not yet developer)
ОтветитьI needed this video in my life right now, I was minutes from deleting my game engine
ОтветитьVery motivational video!
Ответить18 years old Got no money no home family disown me I think I will just rob a bank and make my own indie game that is totally not inspired by other games I think I will call it Robbery Bob 3: Scorched-Earth
ОтветитьI’ve been in burnout for about a month now from over working trying everyday for sometimes over 6/2 hours to learn how to make games in unity I’m still struggling to get out of it but this I think as definitely helped and I feel a little bit more motivated to try again tomorrow even if it knocks me down (thank you)
ОтветитьI needed this so much. thank you
ОтветитьThank you for this video. It means a lot to remember that each failure is another step. The only time you actually fail is if you give up.
Ответитьthank you! recognition really goes a long way
ОтветитьEmbrace failure and keep going. Hats off to all the Indie developers out there. Great motivational video, love the background music. Take care.
ОтветитьI needed this thank you
Ответить(Semi)successful game dev here. While this is good, something most fail to understand is how important marketing is. A diamond deep in a cave won't pay rent. A shiny turd in everyone's mouth, will. Try to aim for a kinda-pretty but well-known game
Ответить😤
ОтветитьI though I would quit or truly started to hate game dev but then I realized how hard I am resisting to quit even tho I am in depression. I realized that no other career interests me like game dev does I am born for this I actually quit 3-4 times and at the end I realized those weren't real quit those were burnouts. Burnout is kinda weird u think it will feel like u are tired but mostly its like hate and questioning your career choice and ofc depression not wanting to live another day, I remember designing table games at middleschool, crafting my own tcg, paper toys and selling them to my friends in primary school. if u can't imagine yourself doing another job other than game dev then there no reason to have doubts about it. You are experiencing burnout, take a few day rest without thinking anything related to game dev and u will be good. Cravings will start and eventually u will find out yourself on game engine doing something in no time.
NOTE: if you're doing it for solo purpose of making big money then u will fail since there easier jobs that make same amount of salary and they will eventually get you to their side.
I thought the video was going to show a bank account statement of ConcernedApe but this is probably the 2nd most motivational thing
ОтветитьIm the dev of REMOTE LIFE and CRUDE...and u can tell... success is if u r able ro finish a game...the rest after is just a + 😅😂
ОтветитьI've created a bunch of different playlists for myself on game dev for various topics (marketing, game design, optimization, etc.). Basically just videos that I wanted to consult at a later date or things I want to remember. This video made me start a new playlist called 'motivation'. This is some great stuff to hear. Thanks for making this video, Brandon and Nikki!
ОтветитьNow I know why people like those generic motivational videos, felt like I needed that! I will now ignore that feeling entirely and go back to being cynical, if you don't mind.
ОтветитьMy issue is that this same monologue runs through my head everyday, but it tells me I'm in the 95% lol 😂....😅....😢
ОтветитьKinda had a lowpoint in the mental rollercoaster of making a game, and just typed "indie dev encouragement" for some motivation. Very good words in this video, I feel more capable now.
Ответить<3
ОтветитьThank You for making this fantastic video.
This is a very good Insight... reminding us that the one that holds us back is: ourselves
If we release our fears... and learn to "play with our fears" Instead, then we would achieve more things 💯💪🏼🔥😄
The difference between a master and a beginner, is that a master has failed more times than a beginner has tried. These words motivate me when I develop my indie game.
ОтветитьThis is phenomenal!
Sometimes it gets pretty hard and challenging in game dev. Videos like this help remind me of the end goal.
Thanks, dude.
Love it, thanks for the vid and the inspiration!!!
ОтветитьThank you.
ОтветитьI came here looking for a place to whine about my current barrier that I'm facing and about all the whole trail of tears that's led up to this current fail block. Because misery loves company? But this space is like holy ground.
I just can't piss on holy ground.
Get a buddy to hold you accountable every day and grind for however many hours you've set for yourself at what part of the day.
don't let your idea be a spark keep adding fuel to turn it into a flame.
Hey guys I need advice... I already asked ChatGPT but as much as he is an amazing therapist and listens like no human, in this particular case he wasn't that helpful. I think he tries to be gentle and politically nice and correct, and not straight to the point and rough.
I started to make my proof of concept game in GDevelop. It was fun, and the project has a real potential, and the GDev is really amazing software, but I don't see my future in GDev, and once I am done doing the game I am reluctant to maintain the project in GDev (I don't see growth for myself in this software. ) By now I learned Godot and Python libraries that allow me to make this game on a better engine, with more advanced code that performs better and gives more control. But rewriting the game will take me some time, and I can't decide. should I finish the project in GDev and then drop it move on and build the next version of the game in the new engine, or not lose any time to finish a dead cat and straight move on to rewriting the game as fast as possible? it seems in all cases I "lose" some time, but I end up richer by one proof of concept game on my account...In both cases those are at least months of work if not more... What should I do? finish the project in the old engine? maybe finish it roughly to have a portfolio? or move on to rewriting the game in Godot?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Bro i need help;) for you is like 2 sec for sure. I have script for Enemy randomly paroling (this case horizontal) how can i make HIM FLIP (rotate 180) right now he moves forward and backward with initial direction...:( Script is based on your last video about behaviors and scriptible enemies
public override void DoFrameUpdateLogic()
{
base.DoFrameUpdateLogic();
//transform.position = Vector2.MoveTowards(transform.position, moveSpots[randomSpot].position, moveSpeed * Time.deltaTime); //Schemat patrolu
transform.position = Vector2.MoveTowards(transform.position, moveSpot.position, RandomMovementSpeed * Time.deltaTime);
//if (Vector2.Distance(transform.position, moveSpots[randomSpot].position) < 0.2f) //Schemat patrolu
if (Vector2.Distance(transform.position, moveSpot.position) < 0.2f)
{
if (waitTime < 0)
{
moveSpot.position = new Vector2(Random.Range(minX, maxX), Random.Range(minY, maxY));
//randomSpot = Random.Range(0, moveSpots.Length); //Schemat patrolu
waitTime = startWaitTime;
}
else
{
waitTime -= Time.deltaTime;
}
}
}
Great motivational video! Success isn't about being the best, it's about relentlessly moving forward.
ОтветитьThanks for this man , i needed this cuz i deleted a small game that i wanted to make out of rage , now i feel guilty
ОтветитьAmazing video bro, keep it up!
ОтветитьJUST DO IT!
ОтветитьIt takes a lot of self awareness to say the things you said in the way you said it. Loved the video, makes me very happy to be a subscriber :)
ОтветитьMotivation for downs ! And you know it !
ОтветитьOnly 95% will still suck! No matter how good the game is... people like shit...
ОтветитьGuys? I think I " GOT THIS"
I can do this
I always tell myself that my failures are my wins, and my wins are extra surprise bonus🎉
ОтветитьFinally got this morning off work and had a hard time even leaving bed. I kept asking myself what's the point? My demo for my indie game just bombed, No matter how hard I push and promote no one sees it, and the most success I've had with the project was six years ago on a post with 40 likes and majority of the people in the comments telling me to give up. Honestly sometimes it feels like the easier thing to do but my mind just won't let me. Really needed to hear this today, I appreciate you guys' uploads.
ОтветитьGreat video tumbnail and title made me want to watch it instantly and video delivered prety well too
ОтветитьThanks for the fresh dose of motivation, I feel a lot more determination now.
Being an indie dev is one challenge, but being an indie dev in a country that doesn't care about it is even tougher. At times I'd ask myself, if I don't follow my childhood dream to make an awesome game, then what's the point?
For better or for worse, it kinda developed this sort of Badeline in me. Anytime I give up on a project of mine, I get haunted by said project in lots of nightmares until I get back to it and finish the job.
That's a messed up way of not giving up, but at least it works, right?
Anyways, to my fellow indie devs here, let's keep up the good work, and I hope to see us at the top someday. :-)
Pretty good motivation for all kinds of gamedevs! Learn more, have fun, and share your ideas with the whole world! This is what indie game dev is about. Thanks for this great video again:)
ОтветитьGame dev is Hard!
