Did you find a way to link tracks like in ableton?
ОтветитьI've been in Bitwig for about a year now. I'm still a raving fan. There are things I wish were different, but I'm still taken back after 12 months in it. I came from Logic and Ableton, so a familiarity with the latter really took me a long way. I'm an audio engineer by trade, so Pro Tools will always be a necessity for big mixes and tracking sessions, particularly for my contract work. But when making my own content, I'm Bitwig all the way now.
ОтветитьI had to smile when I read your video title.. As a person who grew up with the birth of most all DAWs From Pro-Tools to Reason etc.. I at once fell for Ableton from its creation.. That was until Bitwig one came along.. As it was founded from some of the best coders from Ableton, I tried it out.. But like all Daws, it needed time to mature, and come into its own..So as I was with Ableton and knew it like the back of my hand, It was my go to.. On the 1st of January, a friend called ranting about Bitwig 5.1 After 2 days on the free trial, I was sold.. What a magical place Bitwig has become.. Just the sound quality out of the box is mind blowing.! Want a synth that only exists in your head.. Just build it in Bitwig ! Like you, I have to run multiple DAWs for clients that rent our Recording facility.. But anytime I play them a reference track I wrote in Bitwig, and they see “The Grid” no time is lost in downloading the trial for themselves.. With constant free updates, and open source code.. The sky is literally the limit.. Cheers, from Ireland/Germany 🔉🎶🎵🎵🎶
ОтветитьNow try Cubase for 1 day. Just switch the daw pictures in the thumbnail for the next video then...
ОтветитьI just switched to Bitwig from FL Studio. That is because I don't like FL Studio crashes from time to time. It was way too many popups and it's not possible to set a negative offset to tracks (for slow orchestral instruments). Bitwig solves all that and more.
ОтветитьThat gain tool is what I've always wanted in Ableton Live
ОтветитьThe only thing that really caught my attention was that you can open multiple projects at the same time. Now that is a game changer when it comes to creativity. So many times I do not not know where my project is heading. Having all my ideas open parallel and the possibility of exchanging those ideas would be such a good thing for Ableton. Yeah, some will say you can use the session view for that but I'm an arrangement guy. And this is what I'm really missing.
ОтветитьNepstar leaving 😉🤨🙄
Ответитьableton - options - preferences - look feel - allow multiple instances check
ОтветитьI have a Macbook Air, and am very grateful I can zoom Ableton's GUI to the exact size where my aging eyes can read it, and no larger (for maximum interface real estate). ¿¿Can Bitwig's GUI also be precisely zoomed??
Ответитьstudio one is great too
ОтветитьA couple things:
1. Do you like Bitwig because it seems to be pattern/sequence-based? I mean, it seems to be almost like an MPC but in software.
2. Could you give us the videos that you watch and recommend to learn how to use Bitwig or create a video that teaches us how to use it?
Has shares in bitwig😂
ОтветитьAnd it works on GNU/Linux
Ответитьi got bitwig for one reason, my mac broke and i was stuck with a PC and didnt wanna get the software on different platform again, then i saw bitwig on rent to buy, since trying it i am sold, 100%, seems a lot easier to use, thanks for this info, very informative
ОтветитьWait until you try REAPER
ОтветитьBitwig is nice, but my heart belongs to Ableton, me and Bitwig are just friends... Also Bitwig is not into women like me.. and i'm gay so....
Edit me and Ableton are actually in a love triangle with FL Studio, but we suspect that FL Studio is secretly going with someone else so we are thinking about just dumping FL Studio
🤮
ОтветитьSo have you tried Reaper?
I'm asking because over the holidays I plan to woodshed on a DAW to use after starting a project on MPC. I don't care about virtual instruments -- have plenty of VSTs as well. I want something with great intuitive workflow ideally and high reliability. Less hassle, more efficiency. The less I have to stare at a laptop screen, the better. (I work in software industry during the day :) Thx.
You can open multiple sessions of ableton by using a terminal command “open -n” and dragging the the ableton icon from finder to the terminal voila your welcome I saved you 3 seconds on google
ОтветитьNO CRASH ON LAUNCH = inta bitwig buy. Ableton overpriced, can't even open a project bc of 1 vst they can't even program to desactivate so that you do not loose your work. Losers.
Ответитьcap, use all daws
ОтветитьI'm using bitwig for a couple of years now and I still learn new things everytime i use it. Sometimes I miss little things of ableton (have bin a user) but overall I love Bitwig and not planning to switch again
ОтветитьI have not tried it by have read the specs. It seems to do things that no other DAW does with ease. This is a modern DAW for sure.
ОтветитьCan the ugly Orange be taken off of BitWig I think the orange is ugly & puts me off of using it!
If everything but the ugly Orange is configurable & adjustable why force the ugly orange why not allow customisation of it?
I would prefer the ability to change that Orange to something more appealing to me but don’t see the option!
And the open screen has incorporated the Orange theme which is ugly I updated hoping that could be changed!
But it seems to be permanently embedded to the theme which is cool apart from the Orange trimming!
I understand that the Orange may mean something to the developers maybe it is part of their flag colour’s but Orange is ugly!
Only the fruit is acceptable and rare items but my DAW is not one of them I like BitWig but 5he Orange has to go they should allow customisation!
If they do already how do I change the Orange trimming on the buttons I prefer a choice of colours & Orange is not one of them!
The same way I like to colour my tracks is the same way I don’t want to be forced to look at ugly colours which I didn’t choose myself!
If the Orange is permanent feature then I will not enjoy as much would without the Orange theme! Not sure why it is the colour scheme choice!
But prefer Ableton Live Colour scheme but BitWig GUI is more modern looking & would like Ableton Live to upgrade their look which is dated!
Even Live 12 looks the same boring minimalist theme which is played out & boring looking was interesting 10 years ago but today is boring!
Problems which not exist in Fruity Loops Studio <3 :) :P
Ответить3 minutes in! You can do that in ableton. Just copy and paste all tracks in arrangement view!
Always save unless you e got 16gb RaM minimum lol
You can have more than 1 instance of Ableton open you just need to activate it in the preference section
ОтветитьYou did not even purchase bitwig yet you're that excited to make a video crapping on live? loool
ОтветитьHopefully 🤞 you try Bitwig 5.1 it’s even better.
ОтветитьOne word (Actually 2): Studio One ! no need to work with 2 scenes for a single song.
Ответитьmultiple instanzes are possible in live too
ОтветитьSTABILITY OVER ABLETON
SANDBOX PLUGS SO DAW CRASH PROOF
Man, that template with the 150 Hz low cut on every single track makes me really sad 😢Please don't do that. Your mixes will thank you later.
Ответить6 hours before switching? That's novelty. You wanted to use something different
ОтветитьHave you use fl studio?
Ответить1. You can easily drop down another session's tracks/clips/instruments/whatever and drag it onto your loaded session... i do this a lot actually. I also drop down samples in user library and have all my tracks/presets/favorites FROM OTHER SESSIONS. (Collect all and save puts everything piece by piece in the User Library). Ableton Live also allows dual monitoring for both session and arrangement view simultaneously. Also in Live 11 you can click "multiple instances" in the preferences and run multiple Live 11s simultaneously. [Which blew my mind] Ableton Live can also run other DAWS in Live as if they're another plugin [meaning... if you can do it in Bitwig, you can do it on a bitwig loaded in Live, destroying this concept of "theres things that can be done in this that cant be done in Ableton"] ... I'm not sure if any other daw can accomplish that. Also transients... every track has transients... you could split up any clip by transients... into a bunch of samples, grab any of these clips and add them into a new session.
Thats a cool thing about Live, anything you want done could be done at least 5 different ways... you just have to put in the effort of learning how to.
I use bitwig since version 1.4 I never regret it. the most stable piece of software I know. I never would go back to ableton.
ОтветитьAs a Reaper user, you can only laugh at such “reliefs”.
ОтветитьOnly last point is valid for me, ……. However …….-did you think how much of Ableton these guys stole??. Pretty much everything
Editing audio clip in ”spread sheet” is nice but Ableton will add that if they find it usefull.
What about audio quality?
How is audio stratching in this DAW? Pretty much all other DAWs has copied Abletons ability to stretch audio. That is an expensive algorythm. I doubt it is as good as in Ableton.
I was with Cubase since the days of Atari. It took me a while to switch to Ableton. I switched once I was sure audio and DAW mixing is good quality too. I liked the idea of making music in Ableton. It allowed me to think differently.
What made change your mind about Ableton is ridicilous to me. I can’t believe this DAW changes your workflow so drastically. What kind of music are you making?
Give us an example
The Grid is t he best. I've switched from ableton to bitwig 2 years ago.
ОтветитьAfter one second of seeing the user interface : stops the video and leaves and continues working on live. (looks like some kind of fruitty loop bs for 1997 :'( ) (it might be mega awesome, but that's it for me with bigtwit)
ОтветитьI use Bitwig to create all of my tracks and then export the stems to mix in Luna.
Bitwig feels a lot snappier (apart from automation) than Ableton in almost every aspect and it's a joy to use. I can also run about 2-3x the amount of vst's too.
yes the audio editing is super annoying in ableton... never made sense to me that it doesn't edit in the loop window...
ОтветитьI hate Bitwig's browser.
It's SO BAD IMHO.
I watch this and think how much I’m sticking w/ Ableton 😅
