The sad part is they wanked Red and Charizard to all Hell and back using a composite and massively underplayed the strength of the Greymon line.

Let's start with Red and Charizard. First of all, I have to point out that Charizard was a composite of Red's Origins Charizard, as well as Ash's and Alain's from the anime. These are two entirely different universe's and thus don't scale with one another, and the same goes for Masters before you bring that up. So, a lot of the scaling used for Red's Charizard isn't valid, and they gave said Charizard moves it didn't canonically know.
In Origins Red LOST the Sllph Co fight against Giovanni, his Charizard being knocked out by one not very effective Double Kick (That sent it flying) and one Surf from Nidoqueen that blew a hole in the wall. That same Charizard later go manhandled by Giovanni's Rhydon in the Viridian Gym, only winning with a plot armor Seismic Toss, that shouldn't have knocked the Rhydon out. It got a plot armor save in League against Blastoise as well, as it was nearly one shot by Hydro Pump off the jump, yet still somehow managed to win. Then it got absoultely wrecked by Mewtwo until it magically Mega Evolved.

About said Mewtwo, keep in mind that Orugins is, again, a different universe to the main anime. You can't really correlate him with the movie 1 Mewtwo who could create a hurricane with the wave of its hand. Origins Mewtwo is featless. So, at beast you could say Charizard is some kind of glass cannon, but the best attack power you could give him is somewhere around wall level, or small building as a high ball.

Origins Red isn't the strategist they make him out to be either, if you watch the special, his battling style is very pedestrian. Death Battle gave him Ash's unorthodox battle style. So, if you go off of the actual Red and Charizard they said they were using and don't pull in feats from an entirely different universe, well they're really weak.

However, even with the insane high ball they gave Red and Charizard, they still wouldn't have been able to win the fight. Greymon has been shown to survive attacks that could warp the Digital World, and beyond that MetalGreymon is able to destroy such an attack with a swipe of his claw. MetalGreymon would also be comparable to his fellow Ultimate-Level MegaKabuterimon who destroyed a Saturn-like planet in his debut and broke out of a pocket dimension. WarGreymon would scale well above that. As I said, they gave Pokemon the biggest high ball they could by compositing and ridiculously downplayed Digimon, and they still came out saying this was a stomp. With the actual stats, Greymon would no-sell everything Charizard could throw at him, and them one shot.

I love Pokemon, I've watched the anime and played the games, and I've done the same for Digimon. There's no bias here.

So much cope in the comments by people who've never seen Digimon and don't realize that they're on a whole other level of power than Pokemon. Every form is several times more powerful than the last, where even the second form is on par with your average strong Pokemon. Like getting upset over why Naruto can't beat Goku.
