I would have used the nearest repeater search function and loaded it from there. That is predicated that you had to save the local repeaters on to an SD card and then loaded it into the unit. Thanks for the video! 73
ОтветитьI really like that screen and navigation hub.
ОтветитьICOM, are YOU listening? Quick should be quick. My recommendation is any time a tone is selected, IT SHOULD BE ON. This would save operators time and make it QUICK without the quick button. How about adding OFF to the list of tones? DONE and QUICK. 73 KT1R
ОтветитьOne thing about all the cheap Chinese radios that I love is the full keypads on the front. Yaesu and Icom need to bring that back for their HT’s. Going mainly soft-menu-driven is a serious downgrade.
ОтветитьIntuitive would be to upload data directly from phone app. All these HTs live in 90.
ОтветитьI've generally only owned Icom HTs. I like how they're laid out. Baofengs and my Yaesu 4x are very different, but ok once you figure out how to do it. Good video.
ОтветитьOne thing that always frustrates me with both Icom and Yaesu repeater programming is that the tone squelch system and the actual tone frequency seem to always be on different pages.
ОтветитьI have had the 51, 50, and the 52. All program the same and are all super easy to navigate through very similar systems. Just like their mobiles and HF radios share very similar systems. If you know one, you know them all.
ОтветитьThat a very nice display . All the info is right on it. I only own Icom HF radios. 73
ОтветитьI've got an ancient Icom W-32A HT that I bought used as one of my first radios. In addition to having crossband repeat (your "myths" video), it has built in help. Press help and a keypad button and text scrolls along the display to give you some idea of what the button does. Oh, and it has a nicely contoured metal case.
ОтветитьI visited that store a couple of weeks ago, amazing store and amazing selection of ham radio gear.
ОтветитьI remember having the same trouble with the 705 when I first got it. I even say down with the icom rep and it took us both a while to figure it out. It really shouldn't be that hard to do...it's not like ALL repeaters don't need the setting...
ОтветитьJust needed to hand program a Yaeso FT'4X for tone. At first it didn't bring up the repeater. I then noticed you program the receive & transmit tones from the same menu item. I then had to figure out how to switch from Rx tone to TX tone which was the * key.
Every radio is different even if from the same manufacturer.
Anytone 878/578
menu/settings/chan set/new chan/confirm/name/channel type/tone/tx power/rx freq/tx freq SAVE - DONE. Maybe the only linear setup I've used. I think most radios have you jumping through menus. The Yaesu nailed it with the CFL on the FTM-200 and 500, why though does the 300 not have the CFL and the PMG? Even the FT5D is more intuitive than the ID-52. But brother that ID-52 can be as much un-intuitive as the worst but it makes up for with that stellar audio!
I literaly hate programming a new HT... unless, of course, it's Chirp compatible. 😁
ОтветитьRTFM!
Ответитьyea, but the ID52 has full CAT via USB, or via Bluetooth
ОтветитьAnd this is why I made my beta testers use my radio without a manual at the beginning- because if i didn't this is what would have happened
