As an Oriental Orthodox(Indian(മലങ്കര)),this video helped me to get a clear idea of similarities and differences between our(Oriental and Eastern) liturgy 🙏.In our (Oriental -Indian)liturgy there are 3 readings from the holy book before the readings from gospel
1.From old testament (Before the liturgy starts)
2.From acts of apostles/commmon letters from apostles except St.Paul(north side of holy altar)
3.Readings from the letters of St.Paul(South side of holy altar)
Follows the readings from holy gospel by the chief celebrant (Not like the deacon in eastern liturgy,The deacons are allowed to read the gospel only on the feast of St.Stephen)
My parish does not have anyone ready to do the chants properly. Having witnessed the full chant while travelling, I am now studying this so that it can be enjoyed here.
ОтветитьIs the Patriarch of Constantinople still Orthodox?Heard he holds some heretical views.
ОтветитьThis was so helpful! Ill be attending my first ever divine liturgy tomorrow, and ive kept myself from attending for many months now from fear of not knowing what to do or how the service works, but it seems a lot simpler then i thought.
ОтветитьA wonderful commentary, so clear and simply presented; thank you to the narrator, and the film of this beautiful service
ОтветитьHello my name is Connor and I want to tell my story, so I'm from Kentucky heart of the Bible belt born and raised a southern Baptist protestant, I was very faithful for a long long time but in the last year I thought God stopped speaking to me so I strayed and dabbled in other unsavory things which I won't go into detail. But fast forward I came back to my faith but I still feel wanting more I want to worship God more.....idk I just want to worship like the first Christians and before this channel i knew next to nothing about the orthodox faith other than the great schism and the orthodox have many different rites. But I found this channel and I have one question how do I become orthodox ? i want to convert and also how do I tell my parents ? because they seem less supportive than I thought. Please pray for me and if you can please answer my question. God bless my brothers and sisters
ОтветитьVery nice and informative video! As a Catholic, I appreciate the value of tradition and I find beauty in it.
ОтветитьVery well explained 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
A little note:
During the Small Entrance the Priest takes the Evangèlio>Gospel and places it again on the Holy Table passing it through the Holy Gate.
That symbolises the Entrance of Jesus at the city of Jerusalem. Inside the Gospel there are the words of God, like that the Jesus came to preach and spread His word/the truth.
That’s the meaning of the Small Entrance.
During the Great Entrance the priests takes the blessed bread and wine and delivers them from the Pròthesis (side altar) to the Central Altar on the Holy Table.
That walking around the church symbolises the way of Jesus carrying His Cross and going to Golgotha.
The Holy Gifts (bread and wine) on the Holy table are symbolising Jesus on the Cross.
Again, very well explained!
Greeting from Orthodox Hellas☦️🇬🇷
Amen ✝️
Ответитьvery informative.
ОтветитьIt's somewhat different from the coptic liturgy using the liturgy of St. Basil. Which liturgy are you using?
ОтветитьThis is beautiful. This seems to be as close to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass of the Roman Catholic Church (Latin Rite) as one might find. The intentions seem to be the same but the methods are a little different.
ОтветитьThe liturgy is beautiful. I attended during Easter week and wow.
Ответитьmy taking is that this is Armenian Orthodox Church. Right?!
ОтветитьThe Epistle should be read by a tonsured Reader, not a parishioner. If no tonsured Readers are available, then a parishioner may read.

Ответитьwhen does the liturgy start
ОтветитьI’m about to be catechumen in the Greek Orthodox Church I’m so excited!
ОтветитьSo beautiful 🙏🤍✝️
ОтветитьI thought it was Written In The Third Century
ОтветитьIn orthodoxy we worship not only with our words but with every movement of our body, even the walls participate with their depictions of scripture
ОтветитьI’m converting to Holy Orthodoxy from the Roman Catholic Church
ОтветитьAntidoron Is not for everyone is for those who couldn't have communion.
Ответитьthis is so much more unifying, connected, and spiritual than I have ever seen or experienced in Roman Catholic mass. Incredible.
ОтветитьHey, how do I tell my loving, protestant parents that i want to go to an orthodox church? I know they will accept it and I am very grateful for that, but how do I tell them that i want to switch churches??
ОтветитьWhy do they go SO FAST at times ?
ОтветитьI know WHAT happens in the Divine Liturgy. The big mystery is WHY anything is done. What is the deeper, symbolic meaning? Is there a deeper, symbolic meaning?
ОтветитьSo do Catechumens need to be baptized by Orthodox Rite even if they already have been baptized by another Rite?
ОтветитьI am recent convert to Eastern Orthodoxy from Roman Catholicism!
ОтветитьAnyone have the link of the opening song?
ОтветитьExcellent presentation. Using this with catechumens.
ОтветитьThank you for your teaching.
ОтветитьI’m thinking about converting to Orthodoxy
ОтветитьThis was a great explanation and wow was the church service beautiful. Our notes are different we don’t do that row. That was awesome, I nearly wept.
ОтветитьTheir is a high resembelance between an Ethiopian Orthodox and Eastern Orthodox church Liturgical structures. One thing in particular differs in each other which is Proskomedia / Great Entrance /. We as an Ethiopian Orthodox Church have an Entrance after the Gospel Reading before starting the Anaphoric Prayer but the Priests and Deacons don't hold the Sacramental offerings. Basically Our Liturgy starts with preparatory and supplicatory Prayer then the invocation prayer or Trisagion will be chanted. Then after Intercessional Prayer will procced. After that the liturgy of the word will be conducted consisting of reading Paulian and Catholic Epistles proceeding. Before Gospel reading a specific hymn will be chanted from psalm then after prayer for Catchemen is going to be conducted. Anaphoric prayer will proceed and the Jesus prayer will be chanted in high voice 41 times both by priests and laymen. Finally communion will be given to the congregants. Specific hymn will be chanted by chantors while conducting communion the liturgical prayer will be concluded by a Conclusionary prayer held by the Arch Priest and arch deacon of that day.
ОтветитьAre you Greek Orthodox?
ОтветитьNice, but.... God doesn't exist! Then... what's the sense of all this: none!
ОтветитьThe Holy kiss made sense in the past- when women are on one side and the men on the other side
ОтветитьThis video was so helpful to give me an idea of what to expect. Thank you so much for posting this
ОтветитьI just attended for my first time ever, I grew up AG , this was so beautiful. I had very little idea of what was going on, but like my youngest said “it was like a beautiful drama”. I’m planning on continuing to go, I hope eventually we understand! This video helped.
ОтветитьThis is absolutely beautiful!
ОтветитьI love that version of the Trisagion Hymn that I hear in the background at around the 3 min mark
ОтветитьWhere does Scripture state that we have patrons for churches?
ОтветитьIts not so unlike Catholic worship.
ОтветитьHer voice is so soothing and easy to follow. May the Lord bless her!
