That is not a proper way to weld a plate. Undercuts and porosity will not pass. Please don’t follow this example. Otherwise you will fail the test.

I don't know why I'm not seeing people calling this a fake. I've seen different sets of plates in this video and anyone who has ever welded an open root joint like that knows that a 6013 would not fill that huge root opening like that.

If you did a well test, you would have already failed. There should be no Ark strike on the other side of the bevil. Try again.

My sadistic weld instructor had us use 6010 for our certification welds. While the day class got to use 7018. He told us we’d thank him when it came time to get a job because we’d be better welders than the 7018 guys.

Why not 7018?

This man knows what he is doing. Depending upon the place you're working. I was always told no cutting wheels on a weld test. Only wire brush wheels.

I'm afraid that would fail a test due to mechanical damage from the cumbersome use of the cutting disc scoring the plate. Besides that I don't take advice from somebody who operates a grinder with the guard removed.

Using a cut-off wheel to grind and remove slag is not a good habit to get into...

I welded and cut and bent both ways so many of these I get sick just watching you set this up. I had a box full of these test plates made up and had to weld them in every position. Predominately with 7018 but also 6010. I still have burn scares, laughing. Brought back old memories. Thank you
