why you should go to the movies alone

I´m watching movies at the theaters alone now because my friend keeps bailing on me because ´something´ comes up. Sad, but true. Oh well.

A year ago I watched all The Lord of the Rings movies alone in a theatre. That was an truly wonderfull experience.

I remember back in high school I use to go with friends but one day which I remember very well, I bought two cinema tickets desperately someone to go with me so that I don’t seem weird but then I couldn’t miss the movie so I went there alone. From that day I realised going to the movie alone is best thing that ever happened to me. I just get lost in the story. Forget about my surroundings and not giving a single F about who thinks going to movies alone is weird. They have no clue how much I’m enjoying it 🤣. The danger of being alone is you get addicted to it how peaceful it is. No drama, no nothing but most importantly, alone people don’t give a single F about what people think because there’s a lot going on their mind, they just don’t have space for BS and drama. This is what the people who have a big mouth jealous of. They just can’t be alone in 2 minutes let alone going alone 🤣 so now they want to take their BS and drama for someone who doesn’t give a flying fuck.

Enjoyed the video clips. There really is beauty everywhere, even in unlikely places, if one just stops to look.

I used to go to a lot of movies alone, but I haven't gone to a movie in five years.

I came to the movies by myself because my ex girlfriend didnt like my movies and i have to say i enjoy going to the movies by myself, i dont get negative criticism, i like opening myself to a lot of things.

going to the movies alone is a stupid thing to do since it completely destroys the lifeform of going in a dark room with bunch of strangers obsessed like yourself and staring at a lit screen, not only staring, but feeling several strong powerful emotions of various stems in the brain that connect and stimulate what the film is about and is to be enjoyable for

I highly prefer going to the movies alone. I love the movies and it is the experience I want when other people are not there. It’s my ME time.

As a person who is a fiercly independent loner, I never understood whats some folks gripe with doing things alone. I go to the cinema alone, I go to restaurants alone, I go to concerts alone (even multi day music festivals), I go shopping alone, I travel alone...If someone wants to join me, sure, but I am not going to be waiting around and waste my life and opportunities because I cared what anyone thinks about me (btw. some people are too self-important, no one cares what you do, I promise) and becase no one was around to join me.
The only problem is, that my local cinema, that is the only one in the city screening indie movies, operates on a system, that there need to be at least two people, otherwise they are not going to play the movie. But I had to leave disappointed only about two times haha.

I never thought of it like that but I do go alone now if only because of timing. My mates are lazy or something. lol. However, I do enjoy a amerced film with both friends or a full cinema for the shared live reaction to a new film. For example, seeing A Quiet Place was most interesting in a new dinner theatre where se5rvers are bringing food & drinks but yet it's so quiet you can hear chewing. Or a fun full cinema experience was seeing Once Upon A Time In Hollywood w/ mum at the local Hollywood Cineroma Dome on sunset. It was fun to hear the amerced audience so into it & to see where they laugh together or sigh . That film brought old & young together & did a great job of reliving the place we grew up.

I watched Mulholland drive because of the 20th anniversary. That art cinema is on a big street, and it was a one time show. I arrived in the last minute. Asked the guy, is there any tickets left??? He said, hmmmm, acually only one sold. And I tought: what, there is only one left because someone cancelled or whaat? Entered the movie theater and there was only one old man. Also it was the biggest hall with a buch of empty seats. It was my second best experience. (First one wast Taxi driver in cinema haha)

The first film I've ever watched alone in theaters was the movie "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" let me tell you...that night was an EXPERIENCE. I've never felt so happy and so concentrated in a movie before. It felt so different than watching a movie with someone in theaters. It might be one of the best nights I've ever had. I can't tell if that night was so good either because the movie itself was hella good (please go watch it) or it was because how I was feeling and experiencing watching it alone. Damn, I need to convince my parents to let me watch movies alone more often.

Some of my best movie experiences were a result of just wandering into the cinema alone for a matinee showing. You don't have to worry about anyone's opinion, don't have to re-hash the movie directly after it ends, and really allows you to reflect on your own opinion without social bias.

Secondly: You're spot on here. I see movies alone more often than not and it really feels like the purest viewing experience. I saw "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once" alone and stony with less than 10 people in the theater and it was one of the best theater experiences I've ever had.

Thirdly?: Finding Nemo was my first theater experience as well. It was the opening scene with the barracuda or whatever it was that scared me as a kid.

My theater played the director's cut of Blade Runner. I went to see it by myself and the theater was completely empty. It was an EXPERIENCE

I always go to the movies alone. Always. My wife and friends do not understand it. It just that I try to be into the movie and experience everything that the movie has to offer. Going to the movie is something magical and when the movie is great, it is the best experience and feeling you can ever have.

I went alone for the first time last night. It was very awkward. Not because I was alone, I actually preferred it to going with someone. But because I was a 17 year old boy in a screening where every other person was over 70. I saw Elvis, if you're wondering

Everyone made fun of me and felt sad when I said I went alone to see a movie. It was the best movie theater experience I had. Literally just me and one other person in the theater it was incredible
