It is always a mistake to let someone else define you. Your description of what a chiropractor is and how we assess is severely antiquated. You are describing a chiropractor from 1950. We treat the neuromusculoskeletal system. While true that in the past, chiropractors focused on 'vertebral subluxations' as the answer to a patients problems, modern chiropractors use movement assessment such as SFMA in addition to thorough history taking and physical examination (eg orthopedic, neurologic, vascular, functional and palpatory). Modern chiropractic does not box itself in with a philosophy, we use best practices to treat our patients. This may include: myofascial (soft tissue ) therapy for example: Active Release Techniques, Cupping, IASTM, Stecco, Manipulation, corrective exercises, etc. X-rays are used only if clinically indicated. They are not compulsory. I study with osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists and other professionals. An average chiropractor and an average osteopath may be quite different and limited in their approaches, however, a great chiropractor and a great osteopath will be quite similar. I won't try and define Osteopathy, please don't try and define chiropractors. We are all working to improve our skills and knowledge as colleagues.

This is a really helpful breakdown of the differences between osteopaths and chiropractors! It’s fascinating to see how each approach and philosophy shapes their treatment methods. For practitioners, incorporating innovative tools like the Posture Analysis Machine (PAM) could complement these techniques, offering real-time visual feedback on alignment to enhance patient assessments and engagement. Thanks for such an insightful video!

His comments regarding treatment procedure is not necessarily correct. The chiropractor I went to was easily able to take x-rays and on the same visit adjust.

Seriously guys, go to an Osteopath instead. They work the muscles before doing any chiropractic adjustments. It's both gentler and more effective in my experience

It seems like the same thing.

This is a valuable overview. However, it would be helpful to inform people that every medical practitioner, whether an osteopath, chiropractor, physiotherapist, or others, has unique interests and approaches to treatment. These preferences are shaped by their training, experience, and specific areas of expertise, such as scoliosis, sports injuries, neurological conditions, or even cranial therapy. Therefore, it's advisable for patients to reach out to a specific clinic and ask questions to determine if their approach aligns with the patient's needs. Additionally, some chiropractors excel in global rehabilitation techniques, so it's essential to avoid assumptions and always inquire about the practitioner's expertise. For instance, I often order X-rays, but this may not be standard practice for most osteopaths. The key takeaway is that healthcare providers can be generalists or specialists, and the choice depends on the patient's individual requirements. Wishing you the best in your practice!

Chiro here, we don't image unessecarily, it's only a tool for further investigation its not indicated in most cases unless the pt dosent respond to care or needs to see a specialist. Were taught to always follow the nice guidelines and since we treat a lot CLBP and neck px imaging isn't really indicated in initial assessment based on what Nice outline.

We always do thorough case hx + phys exam as our main diagnostic tools imaging should be used if the result of the images changes the plan of management.

We also utilise dxa refferal as we can't adjust without an osteoporosis risk assessment so we send for a dxa when people flag up high risk which actually proves useful as a lot of people don't know their bone density status.

I hope people think we're gonna send you for a bunch of scans as soon as you walk in the door as that's what we're taught not to do!!

Chiropractors also look at the body as a whole it’s important to address the nhs only push physiotherapists and osteopaths
Such as physiotherapists to do rehabilitation and osteopaths to massage etc
Even though chiropractors can do it all and are the highest level of holistic care physicians as they can order ,take, interpret xrays when they get licensed they focus on the muscular skeletal as a whole also

I went to a chiropractor and they injured me as well as none of the adjustments they did improved anything, and the stretches they advised me to do didn't do anything. Complete waste of time and money and for some reason they adjusted my neck to help fix my back, which made no sense.....and they injured my neck, I am still injured 6 months later.

Here in the U.S., it’s strange…the path of the D.O. Is very different…they are indistinguishable from M.D.s except from a course in OMM…they prescribe and some do surgery…I do find D.O.s tend to be a bit more holistic…which I prefer…but M.D. or D.O. have same privileges here…

No one from the science or medical community have been able to legitimize or validate chiropractic medicine. Osteopathic medicine is also not based on cause and effect science. So it's only appropriate to compare these two examples of QUACKERY! At least Osteopaths spare you the theatrics of the CLICKER "adjustments." LMFAO!

Thank you for your video! I've suffered from lower back pains in the last couple of years and had osteopathy and chiro. But I totally believe in Osteopathy as it works like a miracle 🤩. Only in 1 session, my back pain was GONE, each time!!! Osteopathy is more expensive here in France but in total it ends up cheaper because I only need 1 session! Philosophy is good and effectiveness is amazing. I totally agree with you that one must find an osteopathe that we can trust. My body reacts really well as I fell very relaxed at the treatment. Wishing you all the best to bring this miracle to those who suffer from unbelievably severe pain!🙏

Thank you for the informative video
I'm a chiropractor and I was thought that diseas is the result of a disfunction of the nervous system not the spine. We adjust the spine to release nerve interference. We rely on the patient's innate intelligence for healing. So please correct your opening statement :)
I love osteopathy too ..

Osteophaty and chiropractise are fraud. They just crack nitrogen between joints and give you short relife... I have just been in some ostophaty clinick and i paid 40$ for 30mins of streaching, and listening pseudo science stuff. I have master in kinesiology, so i understand that most of it was bullshit, they tell you 5% of truth and rest is bullshit... The sharlatan was toucging me on neck and he told me your l4 is blocked, and i told him i have pinched nerve before in my lumbal spine and i told him where, and why and he started touching my neck and talking about my lumbal spine. And nonsence that i need to fuck girls and let them suck my dick for pleasure... What a Godless bunch of sharlatans...
