Was hoping to watch something quirky about the tokyo network. End up its just 16 minutes of baby step instructions on how to ride a metro.

Me: yeah that makes a lot of sense, well done Tokyo.

Adding Pasmo to your Apple wallet is very useful because you can use your phone instead of the card. Money can also easily be added through your Apple account on your phone

Doesn’t Tokyo also sell tickets that give unlimited travel for a given time period? 24 - 72 hours? Those are usually cheaper than paying for each trip individually if you’re a tourist

Here is my explanation. Check where you are, check where you need to go. Follow the lines and see where to transfer. This is what you learn on you cereal box when you are 4. Apps make it most easy. This guy is otherworldly

Man feeding coins into the machines and doing fare adjustments around Japan is awful.

They need to cheat off South Korea and get everything going on 1 card.

Japanese transit was a total letdown. Horrible.

I just came back from my trip from Tokyo and I was so impressed by their train system. They're clean, quick, punctual, well-maintained, extensive and efficient! If Canada had transit system like this, I'd have ditched my car! Riding on these trains are such a joy!

If you travel through this country, you shouldn't fully charge Suica or Pasmo cards at a time. They are both issued by train companies in East Japan and the remaining balance is only refundable from each issuing company. That means if you leave Japan from other cities such as Osaka (ICOCA teritory) or Nagoya (Manaca teritory) etc., you can't get a refund.

And you give no help in identifying which station you are arriving at. Are the names and/or numbers indicated on a screen in the train? Are they indicated on signs in the station that you can see as you pull into the station? Also seems easy to confuse the platform number with the station number. Is it better to go by the station name?

I hate the "you can use IC in a lot of locations." Every YTer says that. I already have a Debit/Credit card accepted more widely than them without the extra step. It's not good, it's annoying. You couldn't have booked the Hotel or Airfare without one, and they are also accepted in 7-Eleven along with a Million other locations. You even have vending machines that have pay wave for them in the US. You shouldn't be impressed by them; Honestly should be mildly frustrating.

Also, any well-travelled YTer like you knows they aren't unique to Japan. Actually, in a way, I think the card I used when travelling in Queensland, Aus, was better since (outside of rare online methods) you can't use them for the Shinkansen.

There is one other map which Japan YTer John Daub often mentions, the TokyoCheapo Walking Map, which shows roughly how long it'll take to just walk to a station, which could save you a lot of time.
