Other games make challenges like this a tad easier. How so? Simple; Natural Gift.

Natural Gift is labelled as a Normal move, which counts for the challenge, but actually does typed damage based on the berry the user is holding. This means that in the early game, say you had a Lombre with this move, as well as a Chesto Berry... Suddenly, you're dealing super-effective Water damage with a Normal-type move against Roxanne.

Wanna make an even better pokemon for a run like this? Do it in X and Y. Because then, you can get your hands on Dedenne. How is it broken? Well, it learns Natural Gift too, but it also learns the move 'Recycle'. Simply use Natural Gift, then Recycle the berry, giving back your ability to use the move again.
