In the past it was mandatory for every healthy 18 years old to serve 2 years later 1 year in the army........ Yes although many do remember those days some of us thought we were trapped there and just binned that time.
With different goals in mind serving a time in the army can be felt that way. On the other way......... I guess every man and woman should by law attend shooting lessons financed by the government the swiss example.
