Maybe with varmint bullets designed for yotes , but collateral damage is real and you want that bullet to bust up when going through a wall to reduce potential of grievous C.D. as much as possible . Velocity and bullet construction are what allow it to break apart. For in home defense you must plan on misses and shoot threw.

Why would you prefer a caliber as limited as a 300 blk? I would most definitely prefer a caliber such as the 556 or 762 because it’s more well rounded for close, medium and longer ranges. Where as the 300 blk struggles to really reach out and touch someone effectively at longer distances.

Ideally you need more than one gun for home defense. I have kids in various rooms. If i shoot through a wall i run the risk of shooting them. So i use a P99 with frangible bullets in a lockbox. Also in the lockbox is a key to the safe next to me with the AK74.

300blk & if you want to go bigger 8.6blk if not it's long distance then 300 win mag or 338 lapour but 300blk is a all rounder

So basically… get an ar9 for home defense. Lol 300 blackout is still bad if you live close to neighbors let alone live in an apartment. An ar9 for example with hollow points… you can blast away and rest assured your target is stopped and no walls have holes on both sides. Lighter gun and less recoil under high pressure especially being realistic most people don’t even shoot once a month.

The logical side is 9mm hollow point. If you live where neighbors are far away then sure I’d say go 300 black out sub sonic.

Using 300 black out for all around is pointless… obviously get a 5.56 for that use.

If you’re good 9mm, 300, or 556 will do. Get good at something and know its limits.

I have all three of those, but i would only shoot my subsonic SBR 9mm and 300 bo inside my home. Outside my home 300 supers, 556, 50 beowulf and grendel 6.5…not necessarily in that order.

Home defense? Massive barrel clearing tight corners? A no go. A caliber that easily penetrates walls where family members might be? A no go. Difficult to safely store where u sleep? A no go. Sbr's are great for clearing a building u don't belong in. Not the one ppl live in

@tools&targets already proved suppressed subsonic vs suppressed subsonic 9mm is the way to go over 300blk.

147grain 9mm was quieter, cheaper, and hit 20 ft lbs harder.

People hating on him because people are haters 😂. However what he said was accurate. Subsonic loads are perfect for home defense and give more power than a 9mm with the control of the ar platform and supersonic loads allow you to hunt small to medium game, hence the optic with magnifying glass 😂

8.6 blackout is the next big thing ..getting rid of my 300 and getting the 8.6

Subs are trash

300 blkout is versatile more than home defense you can have it as a truck gun I mean it’s a great shooter out to 150yrds so if you are within that yardage most ppl would be it’s perfect and shooting it without suppressed is just as fun with supers it hits hard specially with the right ammo I like the spicy boi phantom defense 300 blkout check out the speed an lack of over penetration I love the 300 blkout
