Great video Chad, I went to the Phils a month ago without anyone. I met an incredible lady after one week while I was staying in BGC. Was very easy to find and couldn’t be happier so far. She works and has not asked me for one cent either for herself or her family and thinks that’s so bad for Filipinas to do.

Chad, I have been in the Philippines for seven years now and that was after coming back and forth visiting for a few years before that and I have to say that this video and the message you organized about expectations for coming to the Philippines and the array of results possible.....is dead spot-on. This is the perfect explanation in my opinion. You covered all of the possible dynamics associated with any expectation a foreign (western culture) man may have. I will save this link and give it out to guys that I may talk to in the future.

I got lucky to an extent and I have had a wonderful experience in my retirement here. I got to know some people prior to coming over permanent and that was my ace in the hole.

I have always advised guys to set themselves up to give themselves plenty of time to have a look around before making their final decisions about a move but I have not ever been able (or have taken the time) to enunciate all of the nuances to consider and be aware of and you accomplished that with this video.

It’s very useful to provide a balanced perspective of reality there. What you described in the beginning of this video is exactly my situation in Japan as I approach retirement age after living here going on 14 years - no friends, very limited to no dating opportunities and general social isolation. Being invited to join Japanese socially never, ever happens here. There is a lot to experience in Japan, but foreigners are always treated as outsiders. These are all reasons for wishing to relocate to the Philippines. Your message is very important to keep in mind - moving to the Philippines is only the first step. Taking action towards achieving goals is critical for success as is in any country. I’ll definitely be taking your advice when I first arrive. Thanks!

Many guys think that if they meet a Filipina online that they will be their liason to the philippines. Most Filipinas aren't that well traveled even in their own country, so don't be shocked if they get you lost somewhere. This girl may not be the one for you, so keep that in mind, and whatever you spend is an investment in your own future in the philippines. Doing recon missions is extremely important, and going several times at different times of the year and going to at least two or three different places is ideal. Most people will start out in an area that is more westernized and then branch out from there, depending upon their comfort level and needs . Really sit down and make a list of your wants and needs is important as it will help you target a place that will make you happy. A girl is going to want to direct you to what is comfortable for her which is close to her family but you need to remember that this is your retirement and not her welfare department so do what is best for yourself and if she isn't happy then astalavista baby.

Respekt for getting out and doing what ya do, man. I think a lot of guys can get too target focused and never employ the strategy of just building a friends group. Having female friends is an advantage in several ways. When out in public, other women are looking over and seeing "hey, he must be ok, other women trust and socially approve of him, and they seem to be having fun together", also, every female friend you make will have a circle of their own girlfriends, one of whom may be the perfect gal for you. And third, it just gives you options, as you mention, to travel together, to try restaurants together. Once you've spent enough time in Asia and Latin America, you realize you shouldn't hook up with every girl that's willing or interested. Going to bed for the sake of going to bed is a lame habit over the long haul. Cultivate some r/ships with women that you just enjoy being around, without wanting or needing more than the friendship... and subtly signal to the girl exactly what your intentions are... to be friends. She gets the meals at restaurants she probably couldn't afford, the travel, the insights of how foreigners think... and you get a gal pal that may lead to you to the gal that you want a serious r/ship with. And ya never know, you may meet a good expat buddy that may just be the perfect match for your gal pal.

Coming back in just over 2 weeks. So excited to be with my ldr Filipina. Ill spend 3 months there to look for ideal place to retire before I begin my retirement life. Was there in January for a month and had a blast traveling the islands.

Well half of the depression comes from what the government does to us. Also, how they spend our tax dollars. It will drive you crazy. So yes, getting away from that will help drastically.
