How To Install Hardwood Flooring (For Beginners!)

Unfortunately this video is about laminate flooring, not hardwood flooring. Whole different kettle of fish.

After watching that, there's no way I'd tackle it myself. There were a few problems that were only easy to solve because a professional was on hand to say how to solve them.

Why do you cover the floor with that material

So if start on one side you have a full width board but what happens if you get to the other side of the room and only a half width board will fit? How do you figure this out so it doesn't look weird?

How is it holding up without gluing the tongue and groove together?

I have all of my flooring… The contractor who was supposed to install them had an emergency and had to fly home. I still have the flooring. I want to install them myself. This is the perfect starter video. Hopefully by the end I see everything I need to know .. to install them. Love the vibe of this video 🤍 such easy explanation

does floating instead of nailing lead to easy separation in weather changes such as summer vs winter? I think I will nail mine but this looks easier. Also I am putting over old hardwood does that make a difference as well?

Nice video but disappointing you did not go into the issue of how to do the front first row with shims chalk line etc. Just saying you're going to create your own shims and do a chalk line doesn't explain how you actually did it

Wrong, wrong, wrong.... those two imbeciles have no clue.... the foamy insulation will NOT support the planks, the floor will be in self destruction process since the first steps on it. Why such crap is allowed on yt?

Why cut CUSTOM shims. besides your wall you shim upto has variations. Just do straight line chalk or pencil. and put screws in floor along line every foot or so. WAY MORE SIMPLE AND STRAIGHTER TOO

DO NOT BUY HARDWOOD FLOORS ONLINE FROM HOME DEPOT. THEY WILL SEND YOU A DIFFERENT BRAND AND COLOR, NOT THE HARDWOOD FLOORS YOU PAYED FOR. You can return the product but delivery is also an issue. They will place you at the edge of your scheduled contract and you will have to accept whatever they send.
Home Depot has the worst customer service. Online Home Depot does not have a fluid communication with the stores, but they encourage their customers to buy hardwood online. I bought Optiwood hardwood and they sent me a different brand and color, less expensive hardwood (Wellmade brand). Worst for the delivery of online-bought items they subcontract companies that do not have proper equipment to unload the products. Thus, delivery takes forever and no one is responsive to your claims.

Would you please be able to provide a list of material for this project?

It’s easy the only hard part be making cuts around doors. Also don’t put the planks right up to the walls leave room for expansion of the walls and the floor of it too tight it can buckle
