DON'T choose the WRONG CODEC for Sony FX30, A7IV, FX3, A7RV

maybe somebody know, why I see same size files on SD card? I lot of files has size 67.3mb, 134.4mb, 201.5mb.... but files are not same duration (2, 3, 5 secs and others...)

The difference just come when you do in vfx field. Ex: tracking, keying, rotoscope,… All-I is the best option for my experience

It's not really true to say HS isn't usable in PAL countries unless we use 50/100p. We've been watching 24p content on Blu-ray for years, with hardware that is able to play it natively without issue.

PAL/NTSC isn't really a thing anymore. I can't remember the last time I had a problem with any 24p/25p/50p/60p content on any of my "PAL" hardware.

How do I get 30fps to match gopro and iPhone

I've learned that XAVC HS doesn't work on Adobe Premier Pro unless you switch back to XAVC S & You can edit just Fine. I'm Hoping that Adobe comes up with a Update

My footage from a shoot last night on the A7IV was recorded to a cf type A 80gb, the record settings were Xavc S-I HD 24p, and they read on catalyst browse, but not davinci resolve or quick time player… Idk if it’s because my MacBook is from 2016 or because I’m not doing something right, but I need help lmao

The XAVC-I with 25P 250Mb/s hav an very Shitty Quality, with moving obijects.

So can a7iv only shoot 50fps not 60 ? In pal Australian standards

How have mac users found using the XAVC S Codec with the M1 chip?

From my understanding, XAVC S-I would yield better quality when looking at solid colors as an intra frame codec should suffer from less compression blocking effects

This should also be helpful for a scenes with excessive movement like a confetti canon of if the frame is full of a flowing stream

Also an all intra frame codec would mean your editing computer wouldn't have to interpolate frames like with a more compressed codec, resulting in a much smoother editing experience
at the cost of a larger files size but that also happens when working with prores

It's weird seeing people call XAVC S-I "all I codec"
I used the FS7 a lot and that camera had XAVC I, XAVC L while the A7s as a b cam did XAVC S

XAVC I was all intra
XAVC L was long gop
XAVC S was even more compressed

Now we have XAVC S-I??
That's the new intra frame codec?
That naming scheme just hurts my brain

I always use proxies edit the stuff final the timeline then replace the media with orignal and Color grade it then render h265 is good enough regarding quality and size

Everyone get a v90 sd card and shoot s-i, you'll have less headaches when editing lol

I just use XAVC S 4K for balance between amount of data and image quality on my FX3 and I´m very happy so far.

All intra seems to not crash my editor as often. I uses Vegas... and compressed files crash a lot. All intra means huge files sizes for me but better than crashes.

Great video. Personally I don't understand why people with an FX3 would shoot anything in compressed mode. If you spend this money on a camera, why save money on data? Get everything out of it :)
