Selous hunted elephants almost exclusively for ivory but he shot and killed nearly everything else he stumbled upon too. He said that elephant heart and elephant fat are delicious and were one of his favorite meals. He liked fish fried in elephant fat. I'm not squeamish but I tend to eschew organs.

Harvesting the old, mature bulls puts so much meat in the hands of the villagers, monies go to conservation efforts, and benefits villagers, anti poaching efforts and habitat. Areas where hunting surplus elephants is legal, gives value to the elephants and, therefore there is far less poaching in these areas, than where they are "protected" and hunting is not allowed, poaching is thriving. Hunters are the leading conservationists and our money goes towards saving far more animals than these "so called" animal rights groups, who glean most of their proceeds straight into their own pockets!! Put your money where your mouth is
