In my experience Serbia is a miserable place to visit, purely because the Serbs make it so. Where as most other east Europen countries have embrace the freedoms won after the 1990's the Serbs seem to enjoy living in their communist period misery. They still worship Tito (not the worst communist dictator, but no saint) and the consider Milisovic a hero. And of course they just love Putin and totally support the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
They have a dislike of wealthy visitors from other countries, they are surly, dour and sullen, best avoided.
