Tbh, unfortunately many people I think would've responded how Kim's father responded if they hadn't seen a physical taping of the abuse. Many males protect one another's b.s. and won't check one another, even when they are wrong, and use the excuse that "everyone makes mistakes". It makes me wonder if her father was abusive to her mother.

Sadly, in a lot of cases of abuse so many people aren't believed. Very often when it occurs to women, people find ways to justify and minimize the abuse and blame the victim for being a victim. I'm an abuse survivor myself.
