QUESTION: After completing this shower pan project... did you paint the shower walls or floor with RedGard or some similar product? Very interested in your recommendation on next steps (if any) before installing the tile. THANK YOU SIR!

I liked your first videos but once you get finished with this step and waterproofing the cement board walls do we lay the floor tile first or the wall tile first and how do we lock in the drain that appears to just be sitting there surrounded by gravel? Thanks.

My basement already have concrete so do I still need to add 1” and half concrete or ?

How did you hold down the durock to the inside of the curb? Im thinking screws but wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the liner ?

Just had a bathroom remodel this past year and now less than a year later my tiles of my shower at the bottom have darkened! I think the tile guy must have made some sort of mistake!!! What would cause this?

Did I miss the drypack mortar bed mixture? Important that the mortar bed for the 'tile' be porous so water getting by the tile and grout weeps downward to the vinyl membrane. This allows oxygen to follow downward and inhibits mold growth from stagnant water especially around the drain.

Put water in before you put the dry in

Good video. I have tiled bath and shower surrounds, but never a pan. One thought - maybe cover the walls with plastic before the cement board. This adds cheap water-proofing.

How did you install cement board on curb without putting screws through the membrane?

Just curious, how thick do you keep your mortar near the drain in the pre slope. I hear 1/2” is the min but curious what you work with.

Outstanding video. Thank you. Unfortunately it looks like you may have stopped replying to comments of this older video, but i have a question. I'm installing a shower in my basement and the clamping drain was installed previously by someone else. The primary drain plate was in stalled only 3/8" above the concrete floor. Is that to shallow to install the pre-slope mudd bed? Do i have to choose a different method of install or change the drain or? Hopefully the mudd bed on concrete can taper to that thickness.

Can you use cement instead of mortar?

Excellent floor but you need a window in there, it looks like a crypt. Lights never match natural light, you'll be depressed every time you shower.

Silicon in the drain really?? Butyl is the correct solution in the drain area. The silicon will fail miserably! And tucking the pan into the wall so the moisture can wick up the wall🤦🏻‍♂️. So many thing’s your doing could lead to failure.. and teaching others these methods.
Furthermore, your floor needs to be underneath your walls so the water doesn’t seep down the wall in between your mortar bed And wick up the walls..
hope you didn’t nail into the curb as well.. 🤦🏻‍♂️ “don’t install a pan like this or potentially suffer the consequences later on.. especially if it is high usage shower”. You seem like a nice guy and your intentions seem well but you need to do some more homework and training before you try to teach people your methods and set them up for failure.

How come you laid down mortar twice before the liner and after that was a useless method mortar before the liner.

You forgot the metal lath

Mud bedding mix has a minimum depth allowance of 1/2”. You only have 1/4” around the drain. This too soon will fail! Always read instructions and follow manufacturers specifications.

Can someone tell me how to get rid of this type of shower floor for a pre-made pan? These are a pain if your drain pipe starts leaking.
