New Citroen C5 X review

This car is a likely money pit from hell both in terms of depreciation and costs of repair.

Also, the car has the following major design flaws:

1. It has a relatively small boot for its huge size

2. The sloping roof means that there is insufficient headroom at the back.

3. Very thick a pillars meaning reduced visibility particularly at junctions

4. Distance between boot door and the floor means loading is difficult particularly for heavy luggage

5. Lack of rear wiper is a serious safety issue particularly in heavy rain

Idk why French cars aren't appreciated.

I've just sold my 18-month-old C5X 1.6 hybrid after owning it for 12 months. The depreciation has been crippling and it's value has plummeted by £12,000 over that period - I could have leased a brand new Range Rover for that. The drive comfort is wonderful and in hybrid mode it would easily achieve 90mpg. That said, the car has been really glitchy including pop-up faults with the climate control, heated driver's seat, reversing camera, auto wipers, auto lights, auto locking and electric tailgate. The weird slider thing to put it into gear (by sliding it backwards) always needs a double-check and its really easy to accidentally put it in reverse rather than drive, because its so counter-intuitive. The voice assistant is absolutely useless. Its such a shame because I was so excited to get the car and wanted to love it - but didn't.

Frech Rolls Royce was the C6, not this, this is boring and bland.

It's beautiful. French design is best in the world after all.

My dream car

I dont like that there are USB -Cs because they look like USBs with that trim so i thought i could charge my reading lamp but when it ran low on power i realised that they were USBs.

The more good Citroen makes their models for Europe the worse they are for India 😂.
Just look at the c3 and c5 models which they are selling in India, they are absolute crap.

My original car was the Peugeot 408, and I changed to this Citroen C5X last week. I like French cars.

Spooky fact. I've just bought this very car. I pick it up this Monday. I wish I'd seen this first, as I probably could have got some more money off, given the way Matt treated it...😀

I drive a BMW 320i from 2019 now, and have driven a lot of cars. But my god, the BMW is awful to drive long distances with. I Just have standard suspension and it’s harsh, bouncing and bumpy. A lot of people do not know this and fall for marketing, but actually buy a very unpleasant car to drive in for longer than half an hour!

Citroen does this so much better and deserves more points for this than the german equivalent.

If you want comfort with BMW you need a 5 series or 7. And maybe with active suspension on a 3 series… but that is all double the price of this citroen car. Crazy that I realise this after 15 years of driving cars…

Citroen do NOT offer the 1.6 180 petrol in the UK , only as Hybrid , that cancelled the car as an option for me. The tiny engine is hopeless and the hybrid for long trips is pointless and your are dragging that heavy battery everywhere killing your mpg and also you suffer a much smaller fule tank - lose lose!

This should be launched in India. I'm very desperate to get such a designed car in my country. Loved the brand Citroen but their India operations are pretty much not as impressive as they are globally.

What an amazing car, just like the old C6 but a new refreshed version.
it looks really good, all those people that picks german cars only do so because they are an item to showoff while the C5x is much more unique and in many ways better.
I had the pleasure to drive one of these for a week while i had my own C3 Aircross in to the mechanics and it was addicting, even the new C4 is really good with the same suspention !

You are correct Citroën did license hydro active suspension to Rolls Royce and Bentley. I have a C5 x7 Exclusive hydro active 3 plus. I will have to book a test drive to see how it compares to my V6 saloon?
