You don't HAVE to upgrade plugins. Even v9 works in 2023.
ОтветитьWhat should you do about WAVES New Business Model? STOP TO USE WAVE PLUGINS !!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop to use any subscription only software!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьBunch of crooks
ОтветитьI am done with them!!! will never use or buy their products Chris. I am a regular blue collar worker, wouln"t be possible for me to afford updates etc... IK multimedia for me Chris....Sadly I also will not be watching your tutorials anymore...Waves involment.
ОтветитьI gave up on Waves several years ago. They STILL have not learned how to treat their customers.
ОтветитьI’ve deleted all my Wave plugins. I will only buy plugins that are a one off purchase from now on
ОтветитьUA is doing native now. You don’t need to pay for Spark.
Ответитьno.
ОтветитьOnly be slave of your guitar.
ОтветитьTotally agree with you Chris.
ОтветитьI predict that your prediction, "Maybe they will change their model prediction and offer more options in the future", will come true later on today (3/29/2023) in a just few hours time.
ОтветитьBlack list the greedy fuckers don't buy anything on their website.
ОтветитьI like the way you think. I agree with you.
ОтветитьCommercial suicide comes to mind!
Ответитьyou can NOW update your perpetual, they want $21.60 for the year for just 1 Vocal Rider? when i paid $29 for it?? umm, no thank you WAVES, i will pay $29 for DynaRide 2 (TBPro Audio) , or pay $39 for Outlaw (WA Production). and NOT repay EVERY YEAR for same EXACT plug-in
ОтветитьIt's disgraceful they even TRIED to do this and I don't trust them anymoreso won't be buying waves again as I think they will try to do it another way. Now we know what they want
ОтветитьIch bin nicht auf waves angewiesen. Gibt es mittlerweile bedeutend bessere plugins Anbieter.
ОтветитьMy L3 Multiband Compressor Plug-in!!!! No!!!!! This is bad news. My goodness!!
ОтветитьGreat advice Chris! Thank you!
Ответитьbaba u straight on. bang on
ОтветитьI'm glad they listened to what we had to say. as an apology they should abolish the wup and we will forget about this incident. waves take example from competitors like plugin alliance, softube, etc. free updates are nothing above average. it would be a nice gift for loyal customers.
ОтветитьFU-c Waves product... We have been
Robbed. I have over $2,000. Of waves bundles. Now if I need to change computers. I can't reload my waves product...with OUT needing to Pay Waves more money... it's down right criminal. They should have offered monthly subs for those that havent already spend tons of money with them. They should have had options for users that already purchases software from them.
"CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT NEED TO TAKE PLACE... THEY FALSE ADVERTISE THEIR PERPETUAL SOFTWARE LICENSE... WAVES HAS LOST MY BUSINESS FOR EVER!!!!
It is imperative to align with the interests of the public, as the current actions of WAVEs are unjustifiable. The purchase of bundles should not necessitate monthly payments, particularly for plug-ins that are relatively low maintenance for a corporation. This approach by Waves appears to have an insatiable thirst for profit, plain and simple. While there are many alternatives available, as a company, you have the right to make decisions that suit your best interests just as consumers have the right to make their own choices. Nonetheless, we need not wait for the outcome to act. By uniting now, we can strive towards an outcome that benefits both Waves and the consumers. Let us work together to achieve a mutually beneficial solution. Just as you balance the mix, lets balance this! Just my $0.02 PS, you have a great platform, keep doing the great works
ОтветитьWell, good news they reversed. I get the 'you can use whatever plugins'. My problem is... I invested, over the last 20 (?) years, thousands of EUR. Bought them. Paid the update plan when necessary. And now, when there is a new OS, I cannot use none anymore? This has nothing to do with that I have alternatives. I like a lot of WAVES plugins, bought them, and I want to continue using them.
ОтветитьThis is already backfiring for Waves
ОтветитьThey made an update they now have the perpetual licenses and the subscription plan.
Ответитьas long as i know how to eq, and use my ears i don't their plugs,
ОтветитьWaves have adjusted their position and are reinstating perpetual licences alongside the subscription options. Like they should have done all along. They certainly raised their Internet traffic over the past couple of days. Maybe that's what they were trying to do all along.
ОтветитьI always had as a challenge to use to the maximum if not exclusively the plugins natively included with my DAW in my case Cubase, this new one makes only reinforce my idea.
ОтветитьWaves just sent out a notice that they will offer subscriptions and perpetual licenses.
ОтветитьUpdates and single plugin purchases are back plus subscriptions. Waves reacted to negative feedback of the user community.
ОтветитьI received a mail from Meir Shashoua - CTO von Waves - they will continue with perpetual licences, additional to the subscription model
ОтветитьI am DONE with WAVES !!! I sent them a personal message and also to one of their sales reps . I am DONE with them , NEVER will give them my business again !!! However on the flip side , I really don't need waves . I have a Hybrid setup and use UAD plugins sparingly anyway , however waves just made it easy for me to say GOODBYE !!! That's another reason why I'm happy that I use mainly hardware that I would NEVER want plugins for at all !!! , such as my Avalon 737sp , my Apogee track 2 , my Manly Slam , my SSL Gbus , my Empirical labs EL8's , my Maaq Mastering EQ4 etc . So not missing waves AT ALL !!!
ОтветитьWe spoke - They listened. Looks like Waves is doing some backpedaling
ОтветитьThanks, Chris and well said. Improve your skills and don't be enslaved to plug-ins.
ОтветитьI just got an email from Waves cto saying they are bringing back the perpetual license model so you can choose both.
ОтветитьMessage from Waves (I've removed the names of Waves' representetive)
Dear Waves community,
My name is ////// of Waves Audio.
Over the past few days, many of you have expressed concerns about our decision to discontinue perpetual plugin licenses and our move to an exclusive plugin subscription model. I would like to start by apologizing for the frustration we have caused many of you, our loyal customers. We understand that our move was sudden and disruptive, and did not sufficiently take into consideration your needs, wishes, and preferences. We are genuinely sorry for the distress it has caused.
After respectfully listening to your concerns, I want to share with you that we are bringing back the perpetual plugin license model, side-by-side with the new subscriptions. You will again be able to get plugins as perpetual licenses, just as before.
In addition, those of you who already own perpetual licenses will once again be able to update your plugins and receive a second license via the Waves Update Plan—again, just as before. This option, too, will be available alongside and independently of the subscription program.
We are currently putting all our efforts into making perpetual licenses available to you again, as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you can keep up-to-date on this news page, where we will post the latest updates on perpetual license availability.
I would like you to know that we are committed to you, our users. We listened to your feedback, and we will continue to listen to you. Waves is a company filled with users and creators, just like you, and we are all as passionate about the products as you are. With this in mind, we will strive to find the way to make things right by you, and hopefully regain your trust.
Thank you for your feedback and continued support—I wish you all the best, /////

I don’t trust them at all. We’ll see if there aren’t any shady terms and conditions. Again, remember, according to current Terms if you sub then you lose your perpetual licenses. Also, their subscriptions are lame and not flexible enough. I wouldn’t call this a big win. Just a little win with a company that hates it’s customers.
ОтветитьWhat do you need to mix? A channel strip (Gain, Filters, Compressor, Expander, EQ), De-esser or dynamic EQ. Distortion/Saturation, Delay, Reverb. Maybe pitch correction. And some other Plug-Ins on the Master Bus. Those effects are provided by so many Plug In manufacturers. What bugs me is that I bought the right to use these plug-ins and with such a move they restrict my options to use them in the future. I hope somebody will take legal steps against WAVES to protect the ownership rights of their customers.
ОтветитьWaves just reversed its decision.
ОтветитьI'm sorry but this is all a delusion. You ARE slave to the tools you work with, one way or another. R u mixing in the box or hybrid? Then you're a slave to a computer. You mix with a DAW? Well, you can't do it without plugins. What you're saying is that you are not slave to one particular option or another which is very different, because, guess what: you can very easily run out of options in the future. If Waves' model of business catches on and others follow it, soon everything will be subscription even if you've already bought it. Which is why it is vital that we react and react in a very strong way.
