Nice, video. I do think it's important to note that this setup comes with limitations.
- Things like transcoding are going to be limited to 1 client and I'm be cusrious if it can even transcode a high bitrate 4k stream.
- Very limited amount of SATA ports
- Power usage (a rPI4 or other low power device might be the better option)
- Power limitation, adding more disks will require a power upgrade
- Disk life, This case was never made to be running multiple disks at the same time. So once you start adding disks you'll run into issues with them dying quickly
- Reliability, for fun it's perfect. However, do not leave any important data on it!
- You say nothing of backup, which is the most important thing
Please help 😢 it keeps saying permission denied even tho im entering the correct password, please help
ОтветитьUsing ubuntu server, anyone struggling to get Plex to find the directory the server is sharing files over?? I cant find the folder at all...
Ответитьi cant seem to set up the network drive windows keeps telling me its not found
ОтветитьTry a home budget solar panel that can run the pc alone. I don't know if home budget solar panel even exist 😂
ОтветитьOld laptops or the Intel NUC's are awesome choices too. But might be more pricy if you don't have one already.
I always like two partitions at least. One SSD or USB for the Linux and HDD's for data. The OS benefits from the fast IO of flash memory, and if a HDD isn't used at all it get's powered down. Backups are easy to manage, especially if it's a USB-stick. And for de/en-cryption it's also nice if you can't hit a wrong folder by accident.
Definetly saving this video for later when I find time to try and set it up, sounds very promising and not too complicated thanks for the instructions 😊
Ответитьlol sue due.
ОтветитьIf you wanna run minecraft on a home server with ok hardware afternoon is great. Gives tons of features customization and it's free
ОтветитьCan I run docker container like that as cloud? On small scale?
ОтветитьI want to delete Linux
Ответитьi have had a homelab for nearly a year and thanks to your video, i finally configured and learned how to use containers properly, THANK YOU!

Ответитьcan someone help me determine a unused IP
ОтветитьWill this stream 4k video?
ОтветитьWhat up address do I use for my server? Is it the same as my Wi-Fi’s?
ОтветитьOn the powershell side I keep getting connection timed out. I'm not sure why that happens
Ответить@hardware haven, by chance do you know if we can use NAS online outside from home?
ОтветитьIt is easy. And then just skip why you set up network masks and how.
In my opinion. Do it properly and do every step. Then, you have made a proper guide.
Thumbs down.
The Almighty algorithm showed me this as I'm starting to build my own home server. Made a lot of better decisions because of this video. Immediately subscribed lol
Ответитьduuudddeeee.... how to get a static ip, ISP gives us a dynamic ip
ОтветитьCan I use both a 120g ssd and a 1tb hdd for the home server ?
Ответитьheads up "sudo i" is a great way to stay in a sudo prompt if you'd like while doing setup but remember to type "exit" to get out of it after. < use at your own risk.
Can you instead use windows 11 for a Minecraft server?
ОтветитьIf you want to keep the services segmented, i highly recommend VMware ESXi 😊
ОтветитьWhere do i obtain all these movies
ОтветитьDoes linux truly improve over windows? I'm new dont hate me. I'm so used to windows after years of it and if its a matter of customization I feel it isnt worth it, but performance would certainly sway me.
ОтветитьThis is the best video I saw this week
ОтветитьI made home server from my old mac mini 2018
Ответитьthis would work on an old laptop correct?
ОтветитьDid you also have tutorial of How to install ubuntu server 22LTS in new CPU and make it accessible from anywhere using ssh. In short I want to make my own VPS which I can access from anywhere and NGINX on it and run multiple websites.
ОтветитьYou didn't had to edit the bits out of the videobro
ОтветитьFantastic video. You’ve earned my sub and I look forward to seeing how to make the Minecraft server accessible from outside of the network.
I’ll be moving my Jellyfin server over from my main PC too.
LOL had to throw it in there that he got it off amazon prime, who gives a shit
ОтветитьThis was awesome man!
ОтветитьIf anyone is using this as a tutorial dont forget once you plug your ubuntu install flash drive into your new server make sure to go into the bios and set that usb drive to be first in your boot order, otherwise the computer will just boot into windows like it normally does!
ОтветитьMy ssh keeps saying access denied
Ответитьadamlarda 2 tb 20 dolar
ОтветитьAnyone, into computers AT ALL, should try Linux. My windows went down; I had to run Linux from a flash drive for a few MONTHS when I was at uni. ugh. Linux saved my bacon! You learn a crap-ton of stuff playing with it too. like, people barely ever need to use 'command line.' idk. :D i wanna get away from tech.. but I end up needing to study it more to do so :D the world we're living in is pretty weird.
ОтветитьI love this channel. I quite dislike tech, it seems a requirement in this life... like, you have to be in the web in order to do anything 'in the developed world.' But, it is interesting :) idk. It'd be cool to start a streaming service :D or something. idk, I had a friend years ago who ran an online radio station. pretty rad idk
ОтветитьI can throw any type of naming convention in multiple languages, formats and folders. Jellyfin figures it out and prepares everything perfectly, it even assumes the episode if one of them does not has any indication of what episode it is (not AI related, probably just looks for whats missing and fills it out)
ОтветитьOoh i have a pavilion, though its a more modern, gaming focused version. It's got an RX 5500, obviously it's a pre-built so i don't really care about the processor and it's upgradable. I got it off Amazon for roughly 600$.
Sorry for the rant lol, I got excited when i heard pavilion 💀
If you use Docker container instance of Home Assistant you cannot use add-ons or meaningful Dev tools. Gotta flash the image. Just wanna throw that out there
