I love Kratos seeing the soul and having absolutely no idea what it is. He watches it, he listens to the howl in the distance, looks confused, looks at Atreus, back to where the soul was, then back to Atreus and nods. Like, the poor guy is trying to be a good father here but he’s having this whole all silent conversation with himself, and in the end we see the growth in Kratos, he simply understands it’s his son’s magic, and just accepts it. There’s no concern, worry, or need to know more rihjt now, it’s just simply Atreus, and for now thatll be sufficient.

If you didn’t know about Fenrir in Mythology. He’s a wolf-giant who is a son of Loki and is destined to devour Odin during the event of Ragnarök

Fuuuckin' hell... it's hard to watch. I have a 14yo husky, I can see him getting slower and weaker by the month, he already almost died three times but just refuses to do so and carries on.
The first time we fought for his life when a tumor ruptured in his belly causing an internal bleeding, it was BAD, I really can't stretch enough how truly bad it was, so bad I actually had to take putting him down under consideration and these few days were just the worst. People always say it's better to put a dog down than to force him to suffer and you know what? I agree, it's absolutely true, but that situation made me realize something; it's not just about ending suffering, there's an other end- what if he's still got a chance and you will be the one taking it away? It's the worst because you just can't know. Everything was stacked against my boy, even the vet said he actually never had a patient recover from such a state, so when he finally not only stood up on his own a couple of days later but even wanted to go for our usual walk into the park I actually cried like a child.
We had another tumor cut out from his head few months ago, he's still going and happily so, he lost his hearing some time ago but joyfully "listens" and reacts to gestures, he loves his treats, our weekly visits to the countryside... like.. fuck, I can hear him having troubles breathing even as I am writing this and there's nothing I can do about it, I can see his legs slipping away from under him but he still loves the walkies. So yea.. this video hurts to watch.

I lost my dog two weeks before Ragnarök released (liver cancer). This game truly helped me through the grieving process because her passing left me heartbroken. However, seeing Atreus and Fenrir’s relationship reminded me that painstaking loss can never equate to the true and genuine love shared between two best friends. One of my favorite games of all time for that reason alone. ❤

A couple of details from Fenrir's death scene:

1. You can actually see a part of Fenrir's soul entering the knife

2. Kratos observing the light of Fenrir flying off is the moment where he thinks back about the his fated death at the end of GoW4.

Very subtle, but you see a trace of Fens spirit going into the knife when he dies or passes on.

a sudden thought. Ktaros doesnt do a lot of physical contact with people and animals because hes too strong, theres allways the chance he could go to pat one of the wolves heads and accidentaly crack their skull. but now that fenrir is, well BIG fennrir he doesnt have to worry, so he can give the good boy his scratches and pats without worry

If I remember Fenrir in legends correctly, he's basically Clifford, the big red dog, but he's a wolf and I believe some kind of God-killer.
