Ответитьhedders and lifted cams are really cool and all that, but they only work when going fast. just driving around not doing you any favors, and the dancing cars with the cams only smoothing out past 90 forget it

ОтветитьThis is a win! Peak horsepower looks good on paper and it is real. On a pull through the gears, how long do you see peak hp? The better target for street performance is increased torque thru the power band, and MORE pull through the gears. Improved torque also translates to sharper throttle response, for a more exciting driving experience. Peak hp works for racing with tight gears, and running there in a race, but on the street, not as effective... you'll be slower.

ОтветитьBefore changing exhaust manifold, heads are the best to go for considering they controls how well the engine flows in air and out exhaust so yes these headers seem disappointing now but I'm sure you see much more of a difference getting heads first then exhaust
ОтветитьHeaders are the first mod you will makie that will result felt difference in horsepower. Gains will depend on how restrictive your stock manifold is to begin with. Even good manifolds will result in a felt difference in horsepower. More on log type manifolds. The more restrictive the oem part, the better gains. On V8 applications, long tube headers, especially with stock log manifolds, will feel like a totally different engine with long tube. Is it worth it? That depends... are you staying n/a? then absolutely. Are you going to supercharge? then yes, and headers will help the supercharger make more power along with downpipe(s). But if you plan to go turbo, then forget about it because your gonna run a turbo manifold anyways to bolt the turbo unto, so dont waste your money, plan your buids out in advance. In my case, i installed my header and exhaust before supercharging. In the meantime i made extra power and liked that, and when i went to supercharge, i was already set up for making more power down the road. You may also notice slightly better mpg(because your removing restriction that robs horsepower and gas mileage, allowing the motor to "breath" and "exhale" exhaust fumes better than it did before. Therfore a more effiecient motor. I noticed gains above 4k in a 2.2 ecotec motor immediately on wot.

ОтветитьIf the stock headers were some rubbish log style cast iron headers then you would have seen your 7-10HP but the factory Miata manifold is well designed. It also comes down to what manifold you use not all aftermarket headers are the same some just look good but offer little over the original design. If it was a built motor you would also find the original became restrictive at some point and need and upgrade so going to a high end or custom made manifold would make a bigger difference.

ОтветитьThat stock exhaust manifold appeared to be a good design already, resembling a shorty header. And it would add more power times two on V configuration engine, especially with V8's that have each exhaust port dumping immediately into a single pipe.

ОтветитьOne thing to think about is how much horsepower the engine has, and power gained as a percentage of that, rather than a specific number. So 5 HP may not seem like much, but it'd be a lot worse if this were a 500 HP engine.
Also, since this engine has basically 100 HP, the math is easy.
Well, looks matter a lot and that looks worlds better, plus a better curve and a few extra horses 👍🏼

ОтветитьRacing Beat header, Flyin' Miata full exhaust, and Flyin' Miata light flywheel made my '01 Miata want to rev SO much more. So even if it doesn't make a lot more power, freeing it up makes a world of difference.

ОтветитьThose primaries are way too short, the collector is crap and it doesn’t have a choke to expension and depending on the year of the miata those primaries may not be in order correctly. Mazda changed the firing order and that effects header design. In a 4-1 collector you want a circular patern. Also the primaries are probably too big in diamter.
