I don't think wordpress is that bad, it can just be a pain to work with. It's a great way to freelance.
ОтветитьYour understand of wordpress was so limited at the time 😂😂 (hope its got better) 😂
Ответитьwhat a bad take.
ОтветитьAt this point feeding clients Wordpress is dishonest as it’s not the best option for their long term success in all of the aspects of the new digital age. But as he mentioned it makes a quick buck for “agencies”
ОтветитьIn a good way is okay to use Wordpress but if you want to make some changes as you said, it's great if you learn how to code. So, in my opinion, I prefer to learn code first and then using another websites builder like Wordpress, Joomla, Wix, etc. and the frameworks too. Companies now, they asking you if you know how to learn to use Wordpress and also if you know how to code from 0 for they can hiring you. If you can programm by your own to make projects, it's okay.
Ответитьi am developer but i love wp , developer dont have limitations or boundry
ОтветитьUm might want to look up the definition of "developer" literally means someone who creates something 😂 this dumbass
Ответитьif you are building themes and plugins and the result is from your creations, the yes it's for developers and it's works really nice as framework. However I agree in case of the next next next people
ОтветитьI had no idea what wordpress was ... boy did I find out.
Lets get scammin boys !
Thank you, Joshua, and I hope life is treating you well. Take care.
Ответитьim getting a lot of clients from WordPress. Not because I am using WordPress, but because I am showing bad design practice in many of the themes people use thus giving me new clients. I just took over a business site that they paid 1000$ down payment and 120 a month. The theme they used the title did not properly scale to mobile, the animations slowed the site down a ton (Google has tools to check speed) and the SEO was very bad. A lot of themes have tons of bloat that is not even needed for same effect. WordPress is great if you need to throw something up and add a bunch of tools but other than that, most designers can spot a WP theme when the site loads up. Me and my partner Specifically look for WP sites now and test them, we have yet to come across one that meets our metric standards.
Ответитьi didnt know pantheon cool for practicing wordpress, thanks man
ОтветитьYou were so sweet to your dog awww!
ОтветитьEven with coding in WordPress is a drag — Webflow is top tier. You can design faster and not worry about maintenance all the time.
ОтветитьGood luck building a website manually.
ОтветитьI love WordPress.
ОтветитьI was introduced to WordPress as an employee at a small business with only a basic graphic design background, no coding/development experience. My boss hired a guy to make us a website and him and his team built us a WordPress site with all the e-commerce stuff. This has been a good and bad thing. Good because its user friendly on the backend for most to be able to use without any issues. Bad because most of it is made up of 3rd party plug-ins and whatnot that cannot fully accommodate to our needs. I can see where it would definitely save time but there isn't any way to tweak things and that has been an issue.
ОтветитьThis is why the developer is not the owner... Wordpress is the #1 CMS on the Internet to this day.
With that being said, it is a pain in the ass sometimes.. code is easier once you understand it is the irony
I wasted so much money on WP "developer" because the owner thought his developer could make my website. I want to sue for a non-working website but I don't know what lawyer would take it on. :(. I got hussled.
ОтветитьIf you’re that upset over a “job title” then that sounds like a “your ego” problem. Sorry, but plenty of us WP freelancers and one person agencies do just as well and often better monetarily than “real developer” fanboys. 😂
ОтветитьI don’t think it’s necessary to Shane people for using Wordpress in a different way to yourself, your quotation mark hand gestures are unnecessary. Buck toothed twat.
ОтветитьNo such thing as a "real" developer; just different classes of problems and different tools which work best for those classes of problems given certain contraints (e.g: time and budget). I currently work as a back-end PHP developer and I don't mind WordPress as far as I've explored it so far. I'll need to take a closer look at front-end development for WP -- maybe that'll make me dislike it.
ОтветитьThanks, I like to learn more. Thanks for the teachings @Joshua Fluke
ОтветитьDevs hate WordPress??? You just have to use it the right way if you are a dev. Some clients can pay you a nice money for doing a wordpress website and it will take you just some few hours. Easy money!!! why do devs hate wordpress, lol. If you need some custom work you can use Oxygen or create your own theme from scratch.
Ответитьgreat!
Ответитьthe name wordpress developer got jacked by advanced wordpress users. happens in all professions its called lying lol
ОтветитьMeanwhile, those of us not plagued by snobbery laughing all the way to the bank from wp dev
ОтветитьI know what you say when you say that developers dont like wordPress, but to actually call it a scam where people who cant code uses themes thats not theirs is wrong?? You can make big projects with WP, you can make ecommerce with WP and you can pretty much do what customers wish for if you just know how. We had a customer one time who had a website where developers where building it, their costs where way higher than ours, and she couldn't do anything on her page. So mainly we moved an builded her a page for a much lesser price, and now she can control her own images and everything there without spending big bucks every month, so tell me who is the scammer?
ОтветитьYou hate it because you don't know how to use it moron.
ОтветитьWell it is certainly possible to dive into the php (which is quirky) and to massively modify the css. Or even modify your plugins. Or, you could, back in the day. WP is getting more and more automated--and that brings more and more "smart" features that override whatever YOU are trying to do. Spent this afternoon making custom css changes (in the designated box) and then updating not the theme but Wordpress itself--which now overrides most of this afternoon's work. I'm looking for a BASIC theme that will let me do stuff... but you are just full of complaints (not really coding--here's how to not do coding).
Ответить“The_post() “ is this function name 😆
ОтветитьSeveral false stuff and I would say biased vision.
Wordpress Isn't good or bad, Wordpress is a good tool if it is use for its intended purpose (simple websites, blogs,...) and used the right way.
You can do Wordpress with no code, with Symfony and Twig templating, you can even use it just as a Back-office content platform and use React as a front.
Moreover on 2022 I'd say that it is no, longer profitable to work on WP, clients that pay well won't need simple websites, Client who needs them now won't pay much and would even go for Wix or Squarespace rather than WP.
I'd say in 2022 it is a good thing for big companies with internal dev teams that needs to deploy simple sites for a specific purpose.
I'm a UX designer turned Wordpress "DeVeLoPeR". I love Wordpress because with Elementor and some plugins i can deliver good looking and performing websites for my clients in a short amount of time. Also they have a really good time feeding content to the website because it's easy to learn even for a completely newbie. WP came fitting as a glove for me that while knew some CSS and coding, didn't really like to lose a lot of time writing lines from scratch. I deliver value to my clients displaying responsive layouts + Nice SEO implementations + good and reliable cloud hosting.
ОтветитьI am so disappointed. I've been coding for the past 5 months in JavaScript, HTML and CSS and I thought I would be able to use WordPress as a way to use my skills. I haven't check what Php is about? Is it similar to JavaScript? I am trying to figure out now is it worth my time to learn Php after 5 months of JavaScript? Or should I wait till I get comfortable with JavaScript before I jump into learning Php?
Well, thank you for the excellent video, maybe I can use WordPress which you mentioned as a way to make money for freelancing, thank you for the excellent video.
how come you thought it's a good idea to not cut out he dog patting part. lol
ОтветитьI think the best plugin is Advanced Custom Fields, it can be made into full development if you structure the themes right. I switched to strapi / headless CMS personally
ОтветитьYes. But but I would like to differ your stated two types of WordPress developers.
I agree with the two you defined, but there is also third one (or possibly more according to granularity - level of depth), who is actually working with WP API, making modules, editing WP in depth and also is able to work with its DB, and is using for example PHP and JS snippets inside of WP because of some plugins that allows that or have just extra application based on WP functions but for different purposes.
The structure of WP developers would then be (according to depth of knowledge and skills):
1. The admin & user - person who is able to provide this type of installation without server setting knowledge, and knows the WP structure, methodology and BPs
2. Wordpress developer - person state above by me, which has deep knowledge of WP and its technologies, who is able to create & edit or just connect to/inherit WP functions and add its own functions (functions not in programming meaning but in user meaning)
3. The actuall Wordpress dev - person who contributes on main version of WP which is distributed and offered to world
*Need to also mention that some server knowledge in order to prepare whole server, domains, VPS or hosting and so on could be relevant either for the first type - as the high level of admin / WP user which we can understand as implementation in general, or the second type which is more technical and this ability is kinda default.
In my opinion I would always choose Drupal over the Wordpress, I don't like the monetization inside there and the reality that WP has huge gap between WP template and WP admin/core. Drupal is comprehensive and mostly not paid.
So this IMHO to clarify this topic. Thank you for vid.
WordPress is a piece of shit! People, how are WordPress developers are not real developers.
ОтветитьI guess the thing with WordPress is there's a ceiling. You can't evolve into a 'rockstar' dev that takes projects for tens of thousands $ no matter how many years experience you've got
ОтветитьWell I usually make template and I also get some so it fine 🙂
Ответитьbla bla bla y mas bla bla... este tipo no sabe. otro video sensacionalista para adquirir vistas y "laiks"
Ответитьsoft devopers ways btter than wordpress developer because all thems and plugins that wordpress developers use created by software developers or programmers the create them and you buy them to to use it never compare it
ОтветитьNeed to learn advanced custom fields
Ответитьwordpress reminds me of myspace when we used to change our background
ОтветитьThere's no coding in what you showed us because you showed us from the user's perspective and not the programmer's.
ОтветитьLoL so I should learn to work with bloated code, unused theme functions and sell templates as websites to clients who have no clue what they are buying.
ОтветитьWordpress = ez money
Let haters hate
Hi ! I want to create a website, however I was thinking about getting a developer. And Im wondering if wordpress can be more affective and gets more traffic? Thank you
ОтветитьThanks.
