Can't weld without an autodark er I'd be arc'n out all over the place lol
ОтветитьSome people are old school and fight technology and some people are always trying new stuff it’s just a personal preference but auto darking helements are better in my opinion.
ОтветитьI still got one of those, don't know why😅
ОтветитьNot only do i use a fixed shade mask but i have to hold it just because i have no head strap
ОтветитьHehe never used onea them
ОтветитьMe lol. An instructor switched my lens in my hood to auto darkening so I could focus my lines. Then the lens got a crack, and all we had available was like the 20 shades. I was like dammit, not again lol. But my beads have actually been better than when I had auto on.
ОтветитьI’m dead af
ОтветитьI’m dead as fu
ОтветитьI’m dead as fux😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😊😊😊😊😂😂😂😂

ОтветитьI’m 💀☠️ as fux😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😊😊😊😊😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьI can’t see a thing in this helmet!
ОтветитьI use both daily!😊
ОтветитьWho turned the lights off???
Ответить😂 hilarious yet true.
Ответитьu guys trust auto dark or u close eyes for first second?
ОтветитьHii
ОтветитьWhat is a fixed lens or auto darkener thingamabob?
ОтветитьI learned to hold the end of the stick before flipping it down helped me aloot
ОтветитьIve never used auto dark stuff. At 56 im not gonna.
ОтветитьThis is me whenever I have some dirty job that I use the old fixed shade 13 for, after mostly running TIG from behind an Optrel Panoramaxx 2.5 😂
Fixed lenses are super reliable and never run out of battery though, every welder should have at least one fixed hood.
Welders with auto dark will often either remember where to go by starting at a ready position (like he still does in the video he does not remove his hands or stance to pull down his hood. It's a head nod.) Or the surface of the welded material matters less and they can start far or near where the weld needs to be like on a welding test.
ОтветитьI tried going to an auto dark after years of fixed and I could not break the habit of flipping my hood up and down every time
Ответитьlike driving w tinted windows at night
ОтветитьThe mechanic shop i first learned to weld with only had a fixed shade for us to learn and im grateful thats what i started with. Also had a snowboarding accident where i hurt my dominate arm/shoulder so i became very proficient in welding with my non dominate hand. The injury was a blessing in disguise becsuse in the the field somes you just gotta make it happen and youre forced into some very uncomfortable situations where you wont have a choice
ОтветитьA welder is a machine, a weldor is a person.
ОтветитьAuto hoods are better in most situations unless you work for the pipeline
ОтветитьIve done better on tests with a fixed lense than an auto darkening for some reason.
ОтветитьWhen I started welding there wasn't auto darkening lol
ОтветитьThat's some fine acting!
ОтветитьFixed shades are not useful for production welding in any capacity get a auto if your in a shop your neck will thank you and youll save time
That being said
Low amp tig (mostly thin stainless) and some pipe and boiler applications are the only reason to use them
New welder here and I learned everything on an auto darkener is there any reason not to use one depending on the situation or type of weld?
ОтветитьThis video hurts my eyes watching this . Welding life tough
ОтветитьOnly a 4 inch window for me,
ОтветитьJust close your eye for a minute or too and open them and you good
ОтветитьYeah, but batteries are SO cheap, and so are new lense covers for the convenience, why subject yourself to fixed lense? You CAN shit outside and wipe with a cactus, but you have indoor plumbing and a 30 dollar bidet toilet seat, idk if I'd brag about how tough I am if I'm just doing the weird thing
ОтветитьNever picked up an auto dark lens, but I'll use one.
ОтветитьI just bought my first auto darkening hood, sure beats the wearing two sunglasses method.
ОтветитьFuck fixed shade lenses
Ответить"hey we work in a fab shop where we have consistant lighting, but i bought a hood that should be used for out door purposes to make my life more difficult because thats what the real welders on the internet buy. it was over-priced too, you should try it"
ОтветитьAuto lense = Training wheels for welders/toddlers 😅
ОтветитьI welded the table so many times learning how to strike an arc with a non auto darkening hood.
ОтветитьWe used fixed shade for years. Scared of damage to the eye ( ignorance on my father and I thinking) a few years back switched to the auto lense......ill never go back to fixed!
Ответитьi’m new to welding actuslly in the welding class in my HS and at first we used fixed shade and i found it hard to weld so i bought myself an auto darkness one
Ответить43 years of welding my eye doctor said do not use automatic helmet.
ОтветитьMe
Ответитьme after my auto dark broke
ОтветитьStart with the fixed shade, get better and then buy an auto dim. It makes you better at laying beads down, trust me.
ОтветитьMy dad bought me one about 30 years ago, cost about $330AU still have it, it needs batteries, haven't used it in years, bought a new one 6 months ago, cost $330. But is adjustable.
ОтветитьAuto dark is a blessing.
