Hi Allan, you can talk about studying in USA or another foreign country. For example, there is no visual effect class in my country's collage and I want to study it in USA. Is it the same process?

This was really insightful; thank you Allan!
It would be awesome if you made more videos about this, especially with building a strong case, getting publications, etc. I would love to work in Australia or within the EU in the future and have been starting to research about visas. What good timing haha. Looking forward to seeing more!

I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic but about working in the UK. I've been in the industry for 15 years and I get jobs here in Toronto fairly easily. But no matter how many times I apply to companies in the UK, I never get any interest. So many job listings from the UK specifically state they won't sponsor Visas to begin with. It's quite frustrating. I always assumed they look to hire British citizens first and the fact that companies there can easily hire anyone from the EU without a visa requirement. Now that Brexit has gone through, will it be easier for US and Canadian artists to get work there since I assume they'll be on the same footing as the rest of the EU when it comes to needing a visa?

I have a very specific question on this topic. I'm currently working as FX artist in Rhythm & Hues Mumbai, 2 years ago I tried applying for pg diploma course in VFX in Canada. I applied to serveral colleges there, they liked my showreel, and my IELTS score but I got rejected in every single college that I applied for. After enquiring about this to immigration consultants here in India, I was told that it's because my bachelor's degree in computer science. They said they would not consider a professional degree for arts related course. Now that I dropped the plan of studying abroad and have started working here, I do have plans of working abroad in future (Canada and US mainly) to learn more and improve my career. How likely my degree is going to have an effect on getting me a job outside my country.?

UK is the worst atm, but luckily boris has changed the regulations (previously it was only EU who can settle for work in UK - which was total bullshit) so not only eu but also anyone from Asia has a chance to work in the uk.

Being a digital nomad is for most people, a crappy way to live. Almost everybody I've talked to has had the same issues - You can't save money because of travel expenses, you're contacts are all overseas, and if you're on a visa the company has you by the balls. You get screwed with taxes. And your relationships suffer too... You can't buy real estate. I'm sure I've missed something but that's just off the top of my head! You have been warned!!

Hey Allan really loved this video. It seemed this video was more targeted to the already established artist with work under their belt, Ive finished my formal studies and have been getting mentored for the last two years and have only recently been able to secure work here in sydney. I firmly believe that travelling and working is in my immediate future but i just want to know what steps i can take as a junior to set myself up for travel as soon a possible

Hey Allan, my name is Jc and I think I have a very unique situation. I'm 18 I want to work in the U.S. Im from Canada but I do not want to work for another company in the USA I want to run my own video company as I shoot small budget music videos. Ive looked into where if I have a company where I would want to do work in the US I would have to invest a lot of money that I of course do not have at 18. I also have not registered my company in Canada. I have clients in the US that want to work but I want to evenutally permanently live there and work there legally. I just don't know where to really go about this as its a difficult situation for me because I also have no family over in the US that are citizens. I see with some visas like a tourist visa I can go there for up to 6 months to tour. Which is risky if I were to get in trouble for working there. I just don't really know where to go about this if you could help me out I would very appreciate it so much as I want my music video company to be great.

Hey Alan. Let's say I got years of experience, VFX Certificates and a good reel. Would I still be able to relocate country without a degree only based on those three things?
Because I've heard it's hard to relocate to USA/Canada without a degree.

Secondly: As u mentioned on the video having like 5 reference letters in places you worked is helpful. Would those references help if they were from little different companies? For example commercials company, courses, product companies etc.? Or it has to only be VFX references where you worked.

Third: I was reading the Eligibility criteria for visa work permit in Canada and one of the things was: You are a graduate from a program at a Canadian University.
Does it count if I finished a program/course Online from a Canadian University as well? Or it has to be in Canada physically only.

Hey Allan, This video was quite Artist centric, my question would be: What is the likelihood that producers and production staff could quality? For Eg: I've worked closely with some big name directors and my goal is to actually get hired directly by their company, but I am sure LA is full of Producers - Have you ever heard of production staff being granted Visas?
