A folk musician told a story at a show I went to, about a sort of hermit man in her rural community who was found dead on his property, half-eaten by a bear. She was like "the autopsy showed that he actually died of a heart attack and the bear ate him after. Which made us all feel better about his death for some reason." Something in her delivery was hilarious. So anyways I guess bears sometimes do sometimes eat humans, but it's pretty uncommon.

It should be noted that the only time bears do eat humans, is if they are a body that has been rotting. Thats mostly when they find human remains in bears. If they have been dumped or if a person dies from the elements.

I have been watching a lot of bear videos and I have to say…majority of the videos I’ve watched are of the bears eating people, alive. Then burying the half eaten body somewhere and patrolling the area. Usually the bear is then hunted down and killed by rescuers trying to locate the missing person, who they find half eaten. Yes most of the humans eaten we’re traveling solo but I specifically remember in 4 cases there were 2 people camping and they were all killed and eaten by a bear.

The first case was some dude and his girlfriend camping, guy loved bears, gf didn’t. It was close to winter when bears were going into hibernation, the bear ate them both and there’s supposedly an audio out there that their camera caught of the attack.

Second case was a daughter and her stepdad camping. They woke up to a grizzly attacking them and ultimately killing and eating them. The daughter actually called her mother while she was being eaten alive. That’s harrowing.

Third case was an older couple who went camping late in the season. They took their dog with them. They sent an SOS out to a family member saying “bear attack need help”. Both of their half eaten remains were found.

Fourth case was two dudes who were camping in Alaska maybe. They set up an electric trap that worked the first night but not the second. Polar bear came up and dragged one dude away, killing and eating him.

There are several more cases, more single deaths, but also getting attacked and eaten by the bear. I don’t think it’s rare at all for bears to hunt and kill humans. You’re part of the food chain and once you enter their territory nothing will stop them from preying on you.

I felt like it would've been nice if you covered right after the bear chomps on her shoulder in Annihilation, a woman comes up and starts shooting for distraction and the way the bear acted and just the pure strength it had to grab her and knock her around I felt like it should've been talked about BUT it was pretty gory and I'm not too sure on how you take gore.
